October 15, 200817 yr Member You can read the interview here. TVG: Everyone wants to know if you’re joining the GH writing staff.SR: I don’t know what I’m doing next. My production company is working on a Bollywood movie project, so that’s taking up a lot of my time. But I really need to take time off during Thanksgiving and the holidays. I think it’s important for any artist to regenerate and re-fill the well. I love scripted and reality TV, but I think a writer’s well can run dry very quickly because of the pace of the medium. The key, at least for me, is to live your life so you have stories to tell. I realize that more than ever before with Night Shift. The stories I told, that I think turned out the best, were the personal ones I told. ... TVG: When the writers in charge aren’t busy destroying the show’s legacy. Would you join GH? SR: [Takes a beat.] I don’t think I can do the pace of daytime. Night Shift is a daytime hybrid. Night Shift aired one day a week. I look at what they do over at GH and I’m just in awe of it. No hiatus after five episodes a week a year. It’s insane! I don’t know how they do it. My hat is off to everyone who works on soaps. I just don’t work that quickly. October 15, 200817 yr Member Can I just be totally superficial and say that Sri is adorable? AND he lives in NYC. Yo Sri, call a brotha.
October 15, 200817 yr Member I like that man. Alot. Me too. He "gets" what I want out of a soap...and he has given it to me in NS. I'm RECORDING it...which (outside of Y&R and some HBO shows) I do not generally do. He is also not "lure-able" it seems. Too bad.
October 15, 200817 yr Author Member OK, here comes a party-breaker... I do like the guy, he seems great. But... He hasn't convinced me his "vocation" is writing... I just don't see it. Producing - maybe, but writing... No. Edited October 15, 200817 yr by Sylph

October 15, 200817 yr Author Member Co-Sign. And I'm glad he personally (as if there was an impersonally ) said he's not interested in GH. Thank God! Yeah, I want Guza out, but I want him to be replaced by a top-notch writer, too.
October 15, 200817 yr Member And I'm glad he personally (as if there was an impersonally ) said he's not interested in GH. Thank God! Yeah, I want Guza out, but I want him to be replaced by a top-notch writer, too. I agree as well. While I love NS, I can see where he's coming from and glad that he's honest about it. I also think it goes to show what they could do with a real writer who gets GH/storytelling all of it could do. Because Sri was able to take and introduce new characters, wove them into the history of other characters where it made sense, as well as use vets and tell good stories. With NS it just reminded me how much potential there is at GH. Who knows if they will use it. Overall, totally cute interview. Love him even more, so want him back for NS 3. Hope SN/Frons sees that and goes forward with NS3 as soon as they could.
October 15, 200817 yr Member I've enjoyed the last several episodes of Night Shift. I missed the first half of the season. I give Sri credit for writing great episodes of NS, but I wouldn't be so quick to root for him to join GH. 13 episodes of NS (or however many he did) is cake compared to 250 a year for GH. I do admire his nods to GH history, though and give him props for that. But, his evasiveness hints to me that ABC and GH are definitely in his future, or they are at least talking. I just think its 2 different worlds to write a handful of one hour episodes with a bigger budget versus 250 hours per year with a very limited budget. Maybe he'll train under Guza at GH.
October 16, 200817 yr Member Be sure to invite Nelson to every social function you can, Sri. But... He hasn't convinced me his "vocation" is writing... I just don't see it. Producing - maybe, but writing... No. You're so predictable. Edited October 16, 200817 yr by Vee
October 16, 200817 yr Member I don't understand why more soap writers can't do this and respect the history of the show and its characters.
October 16, 200817 yr Administrator I think Sri knows he won't get the same autonomy in daytime like he with with NS. It's too bad he has zero interests in GH because he can totally turn that show around. Put him with an experience Co-HW and GH will be about family and friends and real relationships again. I'm not surprised he was a fan of Degrassi, My So Called Life, and that his TV idols are Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick. I'll be following Sri's career from now on and hope he makes it big with his production company. I hope he makes it big in primetime or film. But... He hasn't convinced me his "vocation" is writing... I just don't see it. Producing - maybe, but writing... No. What have you seen him produce? He really is a good writer - NS proves that. His scenes are pure and so heartfelt.
October 16, 200817 yr Author Member What have you seen him produce? He owns a production company. It's just that from that interview I don't see the passion for writing he feels. Edited October 16, 200817 yr by Sylph
October 16, 200817 yr Member His teen series that N ordered and never aired is *all* (I think) on youtube. I haven't sat down to watch yet but I thought some would be curious... I assume the release/leak is somewhat official but I have no idea what's going on (from looking at it briefly it at the least looks better than much of what N airs...) http://www.youtube.com/user/goesonwhat "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344">
October 17, 200817 yr Administrator He owns a production company. It's just that from that interview I don't see the passion for writing he feels. You don't think has passion for writing? He WRITES and directs all of his projects. If you go to his site, you'll see that: http://www.sriandcompany.com/Main1280.html
