Re Jamal/Alec

AMC took a cue from the headlines in a highly charged storyline spotlighting the fragile family ties between white corporate conniver Alec McIntyre and his biological son,Jamal Johnson. Jamal, who had settled with his loving foster parents,Tom and Livia Cudahy, wanted no part of his dad.

In a bold move,Jamal took legal action to dissolve his paternal bond.AMC didn't pull any punches during the volatile trial. And in a surprising twist,Alec recognised that he wasn't great parent material and gave up all rights to Jamal.

Sorry that I cannot supply the pic.One shows Tom and Livia facing Jamal and the other is a single shot of Alec.

Sharon Case also played Debbie Simon on ATWT.

SOD Who shot Roger?

It's always exciting when a detestable villian gets shot, but the aftermath is usually a big yawn. Typical scenario:Amid a sea of red herrings,a beloved main character is accused, tried and often jailed before the real culprit-a non contract player who won't be missed-is exposed.

But GL broke the mystery mold when Roger Thorpe ate lead on the night of Nick and Mindy's engagement party. After crashing the party and infuriating all members of the Spaulding and Lewis clans,Roger was shot in exquisite slow motion.

The suspects were lined up:Jenna,Holly,Dylan,Billy,Alex,Gilly,Nick-the list went on and on,since virtually everybody in town had a reason to hate Thorpe. At first,it appeared we were in for another merry-go-round:Alex was briefly arrested,Roger's archenemy Billy Lewis, was framed by crafty Roger himself.

By this time,we'd put our money on Bess,a recurring character whose storyline usefulness was waning. But did our heads spin when we found out that family man Billy Lewis had committed the crime after all!what's more,Billy was actually carted off to the clink to serve a 9 year sentence.

Now that's a whodunit.

John and Jill's Divorce was THE best breakup...ever. Jess Walton sold that storyline for the better part of a year. She played Jill like a woman at the end of her rapidly fraying rope. Jeanne Cooper and Veronica Redd were both terrific as their characters forged an uneasy alliance to decimate Jill. Jerry Douglas, of course, was a pro throughout.

It climaxed with...

John: I need a moment with my...Mrs...

Mamie: You mean the bitch don't you?

Jill: *gasp*

Bo/Billie/Gina

Throughout their romance,Bo and Billie faced one stumbling block after another.History, coincidence and destiny conspired to throw the couple off the path of happiness. Billie's troubled past with drug and sexual abuse was revealed and she was arrested for her father Curtis' murder. Bo was nervous about getting involved with another woman after his wife,Hope, died and he lost Carly to Lawrence.

It seemed to take forever for Bo to pop the question to Billie.

Then the greatest obstacle the lovebirds could ever face presented itself-or rather, herself:A mystery woman who looked and sounded exactly like Hope but called herself Gina. Was Hope really alive after all?

Love triangles are par for the course on soaps, but DOOL put a new spin on an old predicament when Gina/Hope entered Bo and Billie's lives.Rather than pitting Billie against Gina and having the two women competefor Bo's affections, the writers turned them into friends.

Billie shared her home and clothes with the mysterious newcomer, and instead of duking it out,the two forged a genuine and compassionate bond. Neither woman wanted to hurt the other. The upshot was an interesting triangle that stood out from the norm in which a toothache sweet heroine and a resurrected wife who fight for the affections of a clueless hunk-who doesn't deserve either of them.

I left out 2 categories

Most Long Awaited Love Scene Austin/Carrie DOOL

Most Romantic Love Scene Bo & Nora's dance OLTL

    • Has anyone ever totted up how many women on GL slept with both father and son(s)? Reva gets a lot of crap for it but she's far from the only one: Claire Beth Blake Olivia Dina Did I miss anyone?
    • I think Long was probably planning to have Claire suffer from Post Partum, but she left the writing staff shortly after Claire had Michelle so that element didn't get explored. And I always assumed that when Claire returned in the late 90s/early 00s.. that she was realizing that she messed up by not staying a part of Michelle's life and became resentful/bitter over her previous choices.  That was my theory.
    • Jenn was a huge part of the success of Days back in the day, and that contribution shouldn't be dismissed.  With that said, I do think her and Jack's time on the show should remain as occasional visits/drop ins. When Missy returns to play Jenn, Jenn is back to being Jenn.   Jenn in her glory days was head strong, fiesty, and was a live wire.... and her scenes with Jack on Friday was classic Jenn with Jack being the voice of reason.   It was the foundation of their relationship back in the day.
    • Claire was always tightly wound, I think what Long was going to do is to throw the three into this impossible situation with no bad guys, Mo, knowing how to take care of kids from growing up but unable to conceive and Claire, who didnt know how to take care of kids and was totally focused on her career, gets knocked up.  Ryder took Claire off the deep end as a convenient way to make story for characters he wasnt interested in (though Pratt blames McTavish) with little effort. It was later explained to be a brain tumor (though why was she a bitch again when she returned?) \ Claire did sleep with Rick, she was his first!
    • I'm sorry, truly I am, but this literally made me LOL. Tempting fate, much?

    • Oh, I have very little doubt that Missy feels some way personally and privately.  Donna was just saying she actively spoke out against Days in public in reference to the gay storylines, which she did not. I don't have super strong feeling about Jen one way or another.  She was always a side character to me.  I still think Missy is Jen regardless of her stupid beliefs.
    • I hated the swap-over; Clayton Norcross, to me, was far superior in the role of Thorne than Jeff Trachta ever was. And the recast left me disliking Thorne when he was the superior son to me. As for Teri Ann Linn, I feel like she got the raw deal. Kristen was very clear as a forefronting character, especially in her rivalry with Stephanie, and it feels like she was dropped off for Felicia, and they never returned it. Not to mention the subpar recast with Tracy Melchior in 2001. Someone like Brenda Epperson (ex-Ashley, Y&R) would've been more suited for that role.
    • I just remember when Leo was marrying Craig (?), Greg Rikaart stated a line and made direct eye-contact with Melissa Reeves, and when the camera cut to her, she looked away.

Rikaart had a mission that day, and he succeeded.
