I'm wondering if freeVee has the right aspect ratio for the soaps. The screen seems more stretched than on the originals and the ones I have.

It seems like I'll be trying to pick up KL on Sunday night out here mid-stream in early Season 7 where I left off, although trying to follow it live is obviously not ideal and not sustainable, and the usual connect for bootleg eps online is understandably down again at present. I can't just binge the show for 24 hours lol. I'll see if there's a recording option. Are these the much-hyped restorations or no?

I would hope they're the restorations but we still have to wait and see. When it debuts I'm going to check out some of season one to see if I notice any quality differences. I just finished season one on DVD (which was fantastic btw) and I thought the DVD print was already pretty good. I bet it'll look amazing in HD.

I've never hated season one, but I didn't appreciate how well they pulled off the self-contained format as I did with this re-watch. There was so much care to so many aspects of the show. The writing, the casting, the directing, the set design, even the wardrobe. They did a fantastic job of laying the foundation of what was to come.

For the pilot, they’re showing the syndicated version (with the Lorimar Presents narration at the beginning). Not restored.

Yup, not the remasters. Picture is slightly better than my copies but the aspect ratio is off(not correct) on the FreeVee episodes.

No remaster ( I figured that was the case) but it still looks a little better than the 20 year old soapnet episode's that were the real only way to watch the show online for the past few years.

I just intended to watch a few minutes, the first couple of seasons are not my sweet spot. But the combination of Karen Allen and seeing the show again, I found myself drawn in. I forgot how much I really did like Sid even though he is an ass in this episode.

Having a look myself. It's hard to really know about any change in quality on S1 because that early on they look pretty close to how I watched the SN recordings a while ago. Annoying that I apparently need to dl the separate FreeVee app just to watch it on my Roku TV; it shows up on my laptop fine but is harder to find in the main Prime Video app for TV.

Makes me wonder if the remasters a real thing, or if are they only going to roll them out if it goes on demand like Dallas. It'll be a shame if it doesn't happen.

So there's going to be some cut scenes.

I believe the initial broadcast syndication package was the first 6 seasons. TNT and Soapnet might have done some of their own cutting in the later seasons.

Imma be up late on Sunday, lol. I have til then to decide if I am going to take a flier on Plex Premium for a month or so for a recording option. Really hoping these turn up on demand.

I take it back - the late '70s location work (which is top-heavy in S1) is understandably grainy but the studio stuff is definitely cleaner.

Amazon is maybe 5-10 mins behind Plex.

The second episode was not from the 80s syndication package. They didn’t have the Lorimar Presents recap and just had the regular pre-credits teaser. Plus, they even had the bumper that CBS would air right after station identification in the original run.

Most of season 1 episodes I have run 48 mins plus and one runs 49 mins exactly with the plot only running 47 mins.
