On this, the 26th Anniversary of Edge's cancellation, I received something very special in the mail...A script from the Jan. 14, 1976 episode (#5148), just about six weeks after the show moved to ABC.

What a beautiful keepsake!

Wow! That is a fantastic gift on this sad anniversary.... How were you so fortunate to obtain it? BTW -- It still p's me off that P&G would not accept ABC's offer to continue. I have a feeling if ABC bought the property, it would have lasted at least five more years (and they would have rallied to get their affliates to start airing it.) Oh, well, water under the bridge. I'm still surprised that it hasn't been rebooted.

How did I obtain it? I am a very infrequent E-Bay user, but I noticed it about two weeks ago, and made the winning bid. Despite the post office's claim 'that no snow, rain or sleet would keep their curriers off their appointed rounds,' we did not have mail delivery on Monday (due to the Northeast storm), so, I received it on Tuesday, THE 26th anniversary of Edge's cancellation. Of course, I count myself as being so lucky that I was one of only two fans invited to the studio on the final day of taping. It was a bittersweet day for me, as you can imagine, but, one that I will never forget.

It was one of two Christmas gift that I gave to myself. The other was an invitation to the 'US House of Representatives' Memorial Service for President James A. Garfield (from February 1882) and one of the Congressional signers of the invitation was the then-Congressman William McKinley, who, 20 years later, also fell to an assassin's bullet. I had it beautifully framed.

What can I say? I have eclectic tastes.

And they say there's no such thing as fate.

Being at the last day of taping must have been sad.

You should have seen the look on Forrest Compton's face when I told him that i could always remember the day that Mike Karr was kidnapped by Lobo Haines...it was the same day that the Duke of Windsor (the former Edward VIII died).

the rules governing our lives. To her, this is an important step. "Once the emphasis is taken off bearing children and identity, and placed instead on just knowing and loving and liking each other, well, then everything will follow in order."

Emily backs up this statement with the fact that almost all young people today are very concerned with the over-population problem. "Never before were so many people so concerned about how many children they had."

She believes people should curb their families and not produce more than 2 children. "If they feel they need more - adopt. People must start thinking in terms of reality instead of vagueness."

Emily is Arizona born, Texas raised and New York educated. She attended the Brearly School, which by the way is the school young Caroline Kennedy attends.

From Brearly, she went to Barnard. When asked why she studied anthropology and took no dramatic or theatre courses, Emily said, "When I was 14, I went off to summer stock and worked as an usher for The Fantasticks. I worked my way up to house manager, then I appeared in View From The Bridge with Jon Voight. It was an off-Broadway play.

"I started on the daytime serial when I was a sophomore at Barnard, and didn't feel that drama courses were necessary. I wanted to learn about things I didn't know. When you really think about it, though, anthropology is closely related to acting.

"Both subjects are linked to human behavior, aren't they? You know, now that we're discussing this, I might just want to become an anthropologist some day. Sure, why not? I'm also interested in archaeology. As a matter of fact, I spent some time in Guatemala on an archaeological expedition. It was really great."

Do you come from an acting family?

"My parents are divorced. My father, Arthur Prager, was an officer in the Air Force, so we did a lot of traveling when I was young. I even spent 2 1/2 years in Formosa. Now he lives in New York and works for the city in the Bureau of the budget.

"My mother is remarried to actor Dana Elcar. As a matter of fact, he played the commissioner on Edge of Night for a while. I have a 15-year-old sister, Nora Elcar. So, actually, you can say I've been in an acting environment."

What other shows did you do?

"Well, I did a segment on Hawk with Burt Reynolds and I did another off-Broadway show, Summerfree. Right now, I'm very busy with acting and singing classes. I study acting with Uta Hagen and singing with Felix Knight. I'm sure you've heard of both these fine people."

What about your social life? Do you have time for one?

"That you can count on. I've been going with the same young man for 3 years. He's a wonderful fellow. His name is Andreas Ladas and he works for American Express and is an International Banking student. He's half English, half Greek, and every summer we go to Greece and England to visit his family. We both love to cook but Andreas is really a marvelous cook. I do a lot of watching. I love to read and embroider and do crewel work. As a matter of fact, I embroider between scenes at the studio."

Any marriage plans?

"Let's just say not right now. Both Andreas and I are enjoying life and each other. We go out to my Dad's home in Long Island for visits, and we swim and just have fun. Right now, that's good. After all, we're young and you know how I feel about young marriage."

How do you like your role on Edge?

"I just love it and even more now than before because, in the beginning, Laurie was a static young lady, but now she's starting to get involved in things. She's changing and I like all the excitement connected with the change. Everything about the show is wonderful. The people are marvelous to work with and the story line is certainly current. It's just a great show and a great role. I'm very satisfied."

And on that note of satisfaction, we concluded our interview. Emily Prager is delightfully young, wise and talented. What more could a girl ask for?

I didn't realize until reading IMDB that this is the same Emily Prager who was very very briefly a featured player on SNL, along with Laurie Metcalf. Emily is also the only cast member to never actually appear on-air (her one sketch was cut). Wow.
