ABC New Daytime Promos

These make me want to watch soaps less.

I don't think any have actually watched a soap in their life they were just paid nicely to say they do. Vincent Pastore is the most obvious since he just signed on to guest star in October.

Are these people actually fans? Does Mel B even live most of her time in a place that airs AMC?

I actually think the promos are... OK. Not bad anyway--I think they do get your attention, but... I think more are set to run because I heard d-0list star Elizabeth Berkley did one for OLTL...

The thing is it'll be useless like all ABC soap promos cuz they will never air them in Primetime. Preaching to the converted is pointless.

I guess they're designed to appeal to teenagers. It went straight over my head. OLTL is ranked #1 in that demo. A whopping 70,000 teens are tuning in to OLTL. Woo hoo. Let's ignore the 800,000 other viewers and promote to the teens! And the ABC Spin/PR department puts out a statement saying OLTL increased it's viewership in the 12-17 demo by 55 percent! Brilliant promotion strategy. Just Brilliant!

Oh, so the Passions viewers found a home in OLTL? ABC must be proud.... <_<

I am assuming that, if The Mole is low-rated, that it doesn't cost them much to run daytime promos then. (i.e., they either don't have a lot of advertisers lining up, or it is not costing them much to forego an extra ad). Of course, daytime promos SHOULD run during the highest rated shows with the most desirable demographic. But that would require (a) integrated network management, across dayparts and divisions, and (B) a desire to INVEST in soaps.

Translation: it will never happen. Much as I'd love to see Y&R promos during, say, CSI (which I don't watch)...it'll never happen.

I know who Big P.ussy is.

Mob done right. The Sopranos.

Elizabeth Berkley is more Z-list.

I thought the promos were good. I like the song and I used to love the Spice Girls and I love the Sopranos. I thought ABCD finally did something RIGHT.

Also, Mel B. has lived in LA for years. Remember, Eddie Murphy is her baby daddy. And he's LA based.

I noticed that there are two different promos of Mel B for AMC. One for SOAPNet and one for ABC apparently. Why two different ones, I wonder? I liked them, but agree that they could have went with prime time ABC actors or more A list celebrities.

    • She did have a thing with him in the late '90s, before she inexplicably disappeared with no mention as to why, although I can't remember if they had sex.
    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
    • Oh. That. I pretend that never happened.

I did think of another possibility. Did India ever sleep with Alan? They kind of toyed with pairing them up, but I'm not sure they ever became lovers.
    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
    • Funny I randomly saw Kami’s lengthy post about the 44th anniversary of the Walton’s finale last week pop up in my news feed on Facebook. A few inaccuracies to her post but overall it was pretty insightful and interesting to read.
    • Well, depending on rewrites...Jennifer Richards potentially slept with Brandon and Alan. It does feel like we're forgetting someone, but then again, maybe I'm confusing that with brothers, which would include a lot more.
    • Maybe it’s me, and the fact that RC isn’t at the helm, but since Cwikly and Ford have taken over I’ve noticed the show doing a lot of things differently directing wise, and since the storyline of John’s demise began, the show has been using different scores, and dare I say better ones than this time last year. It’s interesting and I wonder if the any of it is Noel Maxam’s influence before being promoted.
    • I think Nicole is about to figure out what's going on between Andre and Dani.
