Not only that - he keeps alcohol IN THE HOUSE and tells her HE needs a drink??? It's a miracle she hasn't had a drink in all that time. When he went to the cabinet where the booze was and saw it partly open, he looked like he had daggers shooting out of his eyes until he realized that Ruth hadn't opened the bottle. Then he proceeds to enjoy his drink right in front of her face, practically.

Speaking of clueless people, why didn't those moron police or at least Matt (I think Bill had left by that point) order Mr. Bunker out of the hotel room where Liz was so upset? Why was he let in there in the first place? IDIOTS!!

IMO,something about James Noble's acting brings an underlying weakness to his characters.Of course I've only seen him on TD and Benson.

I can imagine his Don Hughes was the same on ATWT but have no idea about his character on A World Apart.

Hope Memorial seems to operate with no patients or visitors. We mostly see staff roaming the tiny corridors and going in and out of that elevator.

Interesting how formal everyone is eg talking about Carolee as Miss Simpson.

At first it looked like the extra in the opening clip was on a cell phone until I realized it was a portable radio!

They've shown a few patients here and there, mostly interrupting conversations in the clinic.

Does anyone know exactly what the specialities of each doctor is? I know Nick is a neurosurgeon and a researcher, but some of the others are vague to me.

This show is really so far ahead in attitudes for the time - in fact more so than today's soaps.

Althea is treating her pregnancy and miscarriage in a calm rational manner. No wailing or pity party,or trying to trap a man.

She doesn't even have her daughter with her (neither does Maggie? Where is Greta?) Yet she is not painted as a neglectful or bad mother.

Then we have a disabled character whose disability is not the focus - he is even allowed to be an unsympathetic character.

Was Rita Lakin given free reign with the network and C/P supportive?

I agree Paul Raven. Its incredibly pathetic that a show airing 46 years ago is more mature and progressive than the daytime soaps of today.

I've finally caught up. So glad that Althea is back even though only briefly so far. As mentioned above I'm really happy Matt Was the one to save Liz and I can't wait to see Nick's reaction. Hopefully its calm and not his usual yelling.

I seem to enjoy Ruth's breakdown story as long as it stays on the back burner. I get tired of it fast. Wouldn't it have been usual for Bill to drink in front of her in those days? Wasn't alcoholism treated differently then?

I just want that creep Joe Finch to be found- Lord knows how many other women he's attacked. It would be very wrong for Ms. Lakin to let him go unpunished. Still waiting for Polly's nieces to come to Madison. BTW, how much longer does Bethel Leslie have left on the show before Lydia Bruce shows up, and were there any other actresses filling the gap between the two?

Well, after seeing Liz being rejected by Nick again (when will she grow up???), I think I know what's going to happen. With her prediliction for doing without thinking- here's my fearless prediction: expect her to make a beeline to Nathan Bunker's office to spill the beans about her, Nick, and Althea. Payback's a bitch, and her name is Elizabeth Harriet Wilson!!!

    • I'm furious that hack new producer is bringing back the wrong Ben Mitchell. Just bring back Harry Reid for goodness sake. Pleased about Zoe.
    • I've said it before, and I'll say it again (and again): CBS should have extended Angela Lansbury the courtesy of going out on HER terms, not theirs.  The network, Universal and Corymore all should've sat down together before the start of the last season and discussed how to ensure that MSW would go out with a bang.  Leave it on Sunday nights, of course, but really pull out some stops: big name guest stars (Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor immediately spring to mind), more on-location/international shoots, maybe convince Peter S. Fischer and William Link to return as consultants, you name it.  But give her and the show the dignity they were due. I do, too, but that's why I love her so much.  She had every right to call him and the rest of the network out, but didn't, because she was simply too classy to do that.  God bless her.
    • Its not right or safe but I notice I dont always lock my doors either   BTW, I only see that happening in Dani's house, and I assume her kids have the key.  Othr than that we've seen Dani just walk into Bill's house but that's been an actual plotpoint

And I’d love to see that beautiful smile a lot more There’s just one problem… that should’ve been sent packing with Uncle Ron
    • Yet another reason some of the characters need servants.  Since some of the sets do not include front doors, servants could answer the off-screen door and escort guests into the living room(s).
    • I remember them showing a map of Michigan during one of Rachel's adventures, and you are probably correct here.  But the map may have been used in 1978, when Sven kidnapped Rachel and characters were searching for her. They had no idea Sven had hidden her right there on the Cory estate.  So that's just another possible sighting of the infamous map.
    • The one thing that drives me nuts about this show is that all these wealthy people never lock their doors and everyone just walks in without even knocking.  I live out in the boonies with no neighbors close by, but I always have my doors locked day or night!
    • All the best people are at the bottom of the list. Lauren, Michael, Chloe, Traci, Ashley, Mariah, Sharon, Amanda, Devon. I’d rather see more of these people than anyone in the top 10.. (with the exception of Jack and Diane) because I am still enjoying their scenes.
    • The live video tribute to Drake last night with current and former actors Thread with link to video: https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn  They said that the episodes were filmed out of order over a span of time. As we already knew, re: the upcoming memorial service (not spoiling the airdate here)... the memorial service was taped *before* Drake passed away, and then the studio was on a preplanned hiatus, and the actors learned of his passing during the hiatus. New info from the video last night, is that some of what recently aired (such as June 3rd episode ) was taped *after* the hiatus, so after Drake passed away. Maybe I misunderstood what Martha Madison said, but it sounded that way. My god, I don't know how the actors filmed it, especially Diedre.
    • I did not expect Peter Reckell to be the one to break my heart today. Incredible scenes with Bo and his family.
