It gets a ratings increase very briefly and then months of poor followup. What stories do they even have for this? They have already done all the fires and crashes and so on. Emmerdale is such a mess these days that it will be tough to give them much. Corrie is a mess too but has endless PR and hype. It's different for Corrie and EastEnders, which are considered landmarks of British television and pop culture.
