I suppose it probably doesn't matter, but any word on if anyone has been tapped to be the new Hollyoaks showrunner?

Especially given all the mediums the show will operating on going forward and the creative adjustments that might be required. And how the budget might be affected by it- something I haven’t seen spoken about too much.

If I had to guess, it will either be someone promoted from within (to avoid having to throw money at an experienced ‘name’ producer) or someone from the Waterloo Road team, being a show that is younger-skewed.

No word on who has been named, yet!

Yeah, a bit surprised the new EP hasn't been announced. When Bryan left I'm pretty sure it was announced quickly that Lucy was taking the reigns.

I have no frame of reference regarding these 2 Acting Executive Producers, but Kieron Richardson has said that their material kicks in from January. Though a quote suggests it’s actually from the later part of 2023.

One of them is called Hannah Cheers (previously Sowden) who previously worked on the show and has been drafted in from a Co-Producer role on Emmerdale. Given what I’ve heard about the current Emmerdale, that might not be hugely encouraging 🤣

I'm so new to the Uk shows haha so I don't have any frame of reference. I just started Watching Eastenders because I heard it was getting good with Crenshaw guy.

Hollyoaks was getting bad so I hope these new people can help. 🙏

The new whodunit story has started like a lackluster tbh

Have you liked anything from Lucy Allen's stint? I started near the end of Bryan's and i don't really like her material.

I’m not quite sure when her material started.. 2021? I don’t know. Was the Darren kidnapping her fault? That was so bad but funny.
i like the pairing of Ethan-Sienna for a while.
But the rest was so boring and lazy. Not energetic. I mean I made it through 2005-2007 and some of bad actors on Oaks. But 2021-2022 was really boring with some highlights here and there but nothing memorable. 2023 has been a snoozefest tbh

Wow I missed the announcement that it would no longer air on Channel 4. That’s pretty big, and worries me. I personally was okay with Lucy Allan’s run but obviously things weren’t working as well as I thought. It’s sad to me this show has been viewed so poorly since the 2010’s and now when it could be strong at times and have a real identity.

Getting rid of Grace is one of LA’s mistakes (although I get how she’d be seen as expendable, long before Kirkwood left she just lingered on, her killing a pregnant woman is something I’ve never looked past, and I’d say once Trevor was gone, a lot of the spark went out) but we never really saw her as a mom so when she went to prison and sobbed over Curtis it felt hollow. Much like Damon and Scott’s farewell, this brother relationship was completely ignored after the initial storyline. And I’ll take this opportunity to say how I hated that Ollie and Imran’s beautiful friendship somehow became completely forgotten and that even before the recast.

I thought ED somewhat improved by the time Hannah Cheers’ name appeared on the credits so we’ll see, but no longer on Channel 4 does not bode well…

I hope they finally get rid of Goldie, but I was glad both her sons came back, especially Hunter.

One thing I do like which I get others may not, is the Norma character, Glynis Barber is incredible in that role, and I’d say bring on both Ronnie and Roxy as her daughters (just kidding, but one of them might happen).

I guess we’ll see Maxine’s insta family which was unnecessarily complicated with step-kids and kids from previous relationships be one of the first casualties of the post-LA team, I do like Mason though.

Sooooo… We lost Grace Black because of that stupid showrunner BUT there is some hope for the show

Hollyoaks star Hannah Ashworth is coming back to the soap, as actress Emma Rigby has been photographed on the set. Last seen in 2010

The Sun has shared photos of Rigby on the set, including one of her sharing a hug with Ste Hay actor Kieron Richardson.

I’m so excited. I’m currently rewatching september 2009 to early 2010 and I remember how much I loved her.. I hope she will share some scenes with her ex husband Darren!

Someone on FB mentioned that her story might be about her mother being dead and bringing the news to Darren who has to take on the Twins. Would be cool. But I doubt that.

I hated how the showrunners destroyed the Ashworth family! Especially Rhys deserved better. At least they redeemed Josh and sent him packing with Micaela

Did we ever get confirmation Rita Simons is nüMandy, or is the verdict still out on that?

We still have no idea who she's playing. Rita seemed to imply she isn't playing Mandy on Twitter.

The Hannah news very much surprised me. It'll be so good to see her again, but of course, I'm weary at they'll be doing with her.

Damn. Was hoping there was some kind of confirmation!!
