At least he hasn't raped anyone out of love yet, so that's something.

I saw a comment saying that Ste is wearing some cross or there's a cross background in his opening credits shot. I guess that's to remind viewers - if it wasn't already 99.9999% obvious - that Ste exists solely as Brendan's property.

What does the wearing a cross represent for Ste being Brendan's property?! It sounds like one of those fangirl things that only makes sense in that fandom, so that they're convienced things are going their way. Like when Brian gave Justin a DRAWER in his apartment (on QAF US). It meant that Brian had also given Justin his heart. Or, when on ATWT, Noah will be so damn judgemental towards Luke, whenever he did something "bad" in order to help himself or others with something they wanted. Yet, it's okay for Luke to do things to benefit Noah.

If Hollyoaks just aired the Mercedes / Silas serial killer story then I'd totally be watching it right now. If they kill her off I'll be effing pissed though. She's always been my favourite McQueen. And since Amy looks to be a target / red herring this week, same goes for her too.

Also, Karen Hassan needs to commended. She's been doing great work from the beginning of this story.

I agree Karen Hassan really has been amazing and a driving force through this stroyline I just so can't wait to see where it's going to go over the next coupld of months as you can feel that's it's all starting to come to a head and leading towards some climax smile.png

OK, I did what a lot of people have done, and tuned into the show for the Silas story. There seemed to be enough buzz around it, that I decided to check it out for myself - and it's actually pretty awesome. I haven't watched the show properly for about 6 months during the whole Tony/Mandy relationship back in 2004/2005(? (domestic violence/Grace's death/Toby Mills...)), so I was quite surprised to see how good this story actually is. Karen Hassan and Jeff Rawle have been awesome, and without that level of acting, the story may not have been as good.

But, the rest of the show isn't that interesting at all. The new Freshers suck; they're pretty boring, and represent one of the things that annoys me about this show: they have a lot of scenes that consist of dialogue that means nothing; the Gaz/blonde girl/Liverpudlian chick/ and the kid named after Bart Simpson are boring and annoying, and even though I like some of the other characters there doesn't seem to be much left after Silas to keep me watching. And I wonder how many of the viewers the show has gained feel the same? Like all big storylines on a low rated soap, they only seem to profit on the short term, but never in the long term.

I've always wanted to know this: why does the show only film with one camera? They seemed to have always filmed like this, but I wonder why they don't upgrade to 2 cameras, saving them time and money and allowing them to use the cast better?

    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
    • She’s INCREDIBLE. I’m so glad you enjoyed this my friend.
    • I loved SOAP OPERA NOW because they  did detailed analysis of the ratings.
    • I love MKA and feel like they never used her to her full potential with India. The character seemed to exist merely to fight with Alex and blackmail men into marrying/sleeping with her. As if! Then adopting an orphan right out of Little Orphan Annie...somebody BTS didn't like her, I think.
    • I mean...Sarah Michelle Gellar did go on to be a household name and food guru. I can see Ambyr doing the same with the same talent.  Amen.
