SOD: B&B Revamp?

What they really need to do is take the focus away from Nick/Katie/Bridget and the Logans - Heather Tom and Jennifer Gareis aren't talented enough to carry this show, Jack Wagner should be backburnered for a while, and we need to see a lot more of Stephanie/Brooke/Taylor. If there's a decent Brooke/Ridge SL coming up, I'd be OK with that too.

New music and camera angles are all well and good, but B&B needs more than cosmetic changes right now.

I agree with everything but the bolded part. With the right writing, Heather could be the next Susan Flannery. She proved that on Y&R and OLTL.

I guess I'm in the minority but I don't really want Amber back. I don't think she fits in that well on Y&R, but I don't think she would on B&B now. All of the new young characters on B&B seems too.....mature for her, maybe? Although I could probably tolerate her if they had her work for Jackie in a competitive fashion house against Forrester. I am hopeful that with Steffy, Marcus, and Owen, B&B can get some of it's young-ness back. SF, LAD, PD, and the others are great, but I think we need some youngsters around too.

And about Heather Tom. I do think she's amazing. But some of her material has been so repetitive that a small part of her is becoming tiresome. Give her something fresh to do.

I don't think we will EVER see Flannery on the front burner again. She is retiring, and it shows.

Taylor has been RUINED. She could be brought back, but I don't know if Brad wants the real Taylor (strong, stable matriarch) on his show.

And Brooke...also RUINED...unless she can mature past a "young girl who lives based on hopes and dreams". Much as I like KKL, I wonder if she has the chops to play a more mature Brooke?

This seems kind of like a funny thread for "spoilers" :-).

I have decided I like the new rocky, fast-cut scene transitions.

BUT...the show doesn't match it yet. So, I just saw one (watching real time for once a year!) where we saw these scenes of LA/Beverly Hills and a shimmering pool...and it all looked good. Close up on a window. Okay...we're going inside. But then...inside...we have a slow, classic conversation with Katie and Brooke.

The interiors (pacing, style) doesn't match the exteriors at all. If they don't bring these elements in harmony, it is pointless. This is one show that is so staid...so landlocked...I'd love to see stylistic transitions within the scenes too.

ETA: While pacing could be fixed on the rooftop scenes, I'm totally loving the exteriors. Moving trees, sunlight...it all adds a lot to the scenes. I actually think GL looks beautiful often now too...especially the Bill Lewis wedding yesterday.

Where is JamesF? He is the best person to tell us how B&B should look. I especially liked his remarks about Stephanie's mansion. :D

Here are the remarks:

I really don't get the love for B&B's sets, particularly the Forrester mansion.

Setting aside the faux mansion-foyer=dining room aspect of it which is laughable, it's so dated. I mean has it ever been changed in the whole time its existed? In 1987 it was relatively glamorous and represented contemporary, modern Californian chic with the decor. But it's not 1987 anymore and I refuse to believe billionaire fashion moguls would be living in a house that looks like a latter day playhouse for Jackie Collins.

I'm of the opposite view with B&B in that I think the sets have decreased in quality over the years with all of the offices (except Eric's, now Nick's at FC) becoming very generic. The Forrester mansion seemed to be realistically glamorous in the 1980s/early 90s but now it seems plastic and threadbare. I've always hated Brooke's house so I wouldn't count that as anything special either. My biggest problem with all of these "mansions" is that none of them have anything resembling an entrance foyer and Brooke's is the worst offender with her living room/kitchen/diner and crappy stairs leading to a first floor that's at shoulder height.

It's much easier to have the entrance right in to the living area for logistics purposes. That way you leave the "door open" (sorry for the pun) for people to just walk in or walk out easily, instead of having them go down a hallway.

Remind me what Santa Barbara did in this regard. I seem to recall they had some kind of foyer, but it still opened easily into the main room. (I'm talking Capwell mansion).

Sure, but at least they can update it, don't you think?

Everything.

I suppose. The only set that I would change would be Stephanie's house, as to me it looks a little bare. I think the other houses are fine, that's just me though.

I think they should build 50 small, standing sets that never need to be torn down. They could convert Brad Bell's office into the chapel or something.
