OLTL: OMFG, Fortieth Anniversary Spoilers From TV Guide

Blast From the Past

Long before Passions came along, One Life To Live was Daytime's wildest soap......especially back in the Reagan era, when Viki(Erika Slezak) had an out of body experience during brain surgery and wound up on a space ship to heaven. To celebrate the ABC soap's 40th anniversary next month, OLTL head writer Ron Carlivati will revisit the celestial 1987 plot by having Vicki die........just momentarily of course! "This time, heaven will be a very modern high rise.......Vicki will go up the elevator encountering all sorts of dead characters along the way," said Carlivati. Among the former stars making angelic returns are Phil Carey(Asa), Mark Derwin(Ben), Stephen Markle(Mel), and Jessica Tuck(Megan). OLTL's legendary creator, Agnes Nixon, will also appear in heaven. That's not all. Carlivati will redo the famous 80's plot where Tina(Andrea Evans) survived a plunge over the Iguazu Falls in Argentina, only this time, creepy Carlo(Thom Christopher) will force Tina to watch in horror as he sends her daughter Sarah(Justis Bolding) over a waterfall. Fan favorite John Loprieno will return as Tina's ex-hubby Cord. And remember the time Clint(then Clint Richie) was knocked unconscious and time-traveled to the Wild West? Carlivati will riff on that plot too. "Bo(Robert S. Woods) and Rex(John-Paul Lavoiser) are hit by lightning and wake up in 1968............the same year OLTL hit the air," Carlivati say. The kicker: Bo has become his pop, Asa, and Rex has become the young Bo. All three homages air July 21-22, but the Bo-Rex twist will play out for several weeks, maybe with dire consequences. Say Carlivati: "If they can't find their way back to the future, Rex will be drafted and sent to Vietnam."

We could just bring back Torpey as Jessica, reveal Bree is Natalie (I buy Erin and Bree as twins!) and get Archer out of the Buch house?

Are we in agreement now?:lol:

Like I've said before. Should MA ever leave, ET would make the perfect Natalie recast!

No touchy the Natalie. Despite the drama and misdeeds, she and Jared are the best couple OLTL has had in years, and Nat/MA was being [!@#$%^&*] on year after year til RC arrived.

You know, maybe their's a reason for that LOL........................ MA just isn't leading lady material IMO, at least not the leading lady RC is trying to morph her into.

He didn't have to morph her into anything. This is just her. It's possible to enjoy both sisters and feel for them both. I do. I understand why Jessica is mad and I cheered her slapping Nat into next (this) week. But I also felt for Nat.

I agree, JP.

We haven't seen Torpey act in... what? six or seven years?

It might surprise a lot of us to see her vs. Bree.

I love Erin, and she will always be toddler through late teenager Jessica.

But Bree is the adult Jessica. They sold me. I bought the ticket. I'm there.

I so agree.

Bree Williamson *IS* Jessica. (And Tess.. and Bess maybe.. and others im sure...).

ET was a good child actress, but imho she wouldnt be able to bring the adult side to jessica.

She played an adult Jessica for a number of years and did fine. I like Bree but Erin was just as good AFAIC.

I respect that is how you feel, but disagree. I never bought her as an adult.

Erin was great. But I suspect she lacked it in the looks department - not that it ever mattered to me!

I thought she looked more like Erika Slezak's daughter than Bree does, even though I know some say Erin and Bree look a lot alike.

She was a more subtle actress, but brought it when it called on her to be fierce. I thought Bree sucked her first couple of years on the show, her initial interpretation of Jessica was so bland and boring. It wasn't until she became Tess did Bree win me over.

ET & BW are both beautiful girls.

Honestly I didn't fully warm up to BW as Jessica until, oh, three days ago. She's a beautiful girl and a competent actress but she wasn't Jessica to me. I spent too many years literally growing with ET as Jessica (I remember when they recast her for a few episodes around the time Jessica got knocked up by Will, I was livid) that it was hard for me to accept anyone else as her. And they gave Bree HORRIBLE story after HORRIBLE story, not until her argument with Natalie last week and her conversation with Viki Monday did I buy her as the true blue Jessica. She was absolutely fantastic in those scenes, gut-wrenching and for me, finally a human being and not a breathing plot point.

And the return of ET to the show, the way they're doing it...it's really bloody brilliant. You mean to tell me that in a matter of DAYS RC can turn a plot on a dime (and not just this but post-writer's strike material) yet the showrunners at Y&R and DOOL and AMC needs MONTH to fix the crap onscreen? It's not that they can't do it, it's that they choose not to. Laziness.

ET is/was sexy as hell! Especially her last year. Now she's even more beautiful.(check out her site if you don't believe me)

And I agree Darn, it is brilliant.

I like both ET and Bree. I thought Erin was good when she lost baby Megan. It took me a while to warm up to Bree.It wasn't until the DID story that I did.I just couldn't picture Erin playing the DID story at all.
