In all honesty, I would GLADLY take the adult dialogue of Tomlin and Pratt than the middle school skit scripts that get churned out by this writing staff. I don't think Tomlin and Pratt are good writers by other soaps' standards, but they are DEFINITELY better than the trash we're getting today.

Wait a minute, isn't Pratt still at Desperate Housewives? I couldnt imagine him leaving a primetime gig for AMC. That being said, he could be good at AMC. I liked Gary Tomlin's work on Sunset Beach but I dunno, AMC is a really female centric show and so I dont think having two guys in charge would be a good thing. However, pairing up Pratt with someone like Kay Alden or even LML could perhaps work out. Tomlin and Pratt worked together on Sunset Beach, right? It could work on AMC as long as they stay away from some of SuBe's more campy elements.

Nope, he was only actively involved in the first season of the show. I think he only consults on the show now (which he still did when he was Co-HW of GH).

Pratt Co-Created Sunset Beach with Guza and Josh Griffith. Out of those three, Guza was the only one who actually wrote for Sunset Beach. However, Tomlin, Pratt, Guza, and Griffith all cut their teeth first as script writers on Santa Barbara. Pratt was eventually Head Writer of that show and guided it to two Emmy wins for Writing and Outstanding Drama Series.

Tomlin EP-ed OLTL while Broderick was HW. In a perfect world, with him as HW or even as EP, he could coax Broderick to join his team. I'd love to have her back at AMC. I forget how incestuous the soap world is. Sometimes I think that everyone has worked with everyone else in some capacity throughout the years.

I always got the impression that Tomlin wanted Whitesell as his HW at OLTL and Behr wanted to give it to her friend Broderick, so in the end both were co-headwriters. So in that case having Broderick around wasn't Tomlin's choice. I never saw any of Broderick in what went on at OLTL during those awful awful years.

If we had to have one I'd prefer Pratt. Tomlin is just horrendous.

The first year of SuBe was excellent...if AMC could be anything like that, I'd be up for this pairing over there. However, I really think they should employ fresh, new talent. Switching people about from show to show doesnt seem to be working as well. I know people are going to shoot me down for mentioning this, but look at Ron Carlivati at OLTL...it's worked well.

Actually, the rumor I heard was that Pratt only consulted on THE FIRST TWO EPISODES, but would only do it if he got a permanent consulting credit.

If it's true, then THAT'S one hell of a gig to land.

Back to the matter at hand though - this is just a bad move. I don't understand what the issue is with Beldner/Walsh. Unless they don't WANT the gig. Which I will absolutely give them a pass on, considering what they'd have to clean up.

The whole thing makes my head hurt. Is there any hope for AMC???

WTF!?!?

Frons must really want to kill AMC if he thinks Tomlin and Pratt should be headwriters!!!! It's too bad because AMC has really been improving lately and could become great again with a good headwriter, not another hack.
