I loved Ashley Bashioum's Mac.... but I'm not sure I'd want her back, not unless the whole Jill/Kay thing was undone and the whole Mac/Billy thing (original actors please!) was finally resolved. All those years of them wanting each other to boil down to nothing.

Yeah, I couldn't get into Rachael Kimsey either.

@ DeeDee I remember during her brief return before her permanent replacement, Ashley was in the kitchen in the Abbot mansion with JT when Colleen came back into town (perhaps for Colleen's "welcome back" party?) and he was in between those two. She was kinda flirting with him but seemed to be holding back.

Also, earlier on when she was introduced, in her scene with Billy during prom night when they were at the Chancellor's mansion, it was a tender moment. But I don't think she gave it her all. I believed she was falling in love with him. But there was something missing. It could be just me but that how I felt about her. She'll always be Mac to me, though.

The recasts played her whiny but, then again, the writing changed dramatically during that time so they could've been more than capable with that role.

When will this show revisit the juiciness of a girl vs. girl action a la Diane/Phyllis? They can't even do that with Victoria/Sabrina because they're a couple of wusses. And they could do it with Phyllis/Sharon but I'd love some new blood to get in a bitch slap or two. What's a soap opera without a bitch slap or two?

Oh, I forgot. Y&R!

I thought Lily vs Amber was going to give us that. Or Lily vs Chleo. But once again we'll need a mini Dru to do such a thing. & with CK in the role the storyline was more like woe is me. If we had mini Dru the storyline would be more like bitch test me again. Do you know who my mother is.

I was going to mention the potential of Amber against Lily and agree that Christel can fight her own battles as well as Gloria can be altruistic. But even Amber has nothing on the women of Y&R's history. I can't remember when she actually put her foot down on something without sounding whiny or put her foot down on something that actually meant something. As much of a moral wasteland Diane was, she still had more of a humanity to her than Amber does. And that's because the writers were friggin' good.

I don't understand why these people who get paid as much as they do can't create fleshy, HUMAN characters! Despite being a bad actress on OLTL Alderson, I still root for her and Cole to be together, even to run away; no matter how bad an idea it is. Y&R's writing these characters as if they don't want audience to care about them anymore. And it's really working.

I have been enjoying this week, but the show is still messed up. And, WTF? Amber wants Daniel to move in? :o

Enjoyed Katherine remembering Phillip though and the scene between Jack and Sharon, as they reminisced about the Phyllis/Nick affair.

This week was an improvement on last week.

I am loving the renewed sense of Jill....she needs even more episodes. Jess Walton is sexy and a terrific actress. Time to give her the A storyline she's been in desperate need of.

I am loving how Adam does everything in his power to belittle the lame Sabrina with her French bag of b.s. Adam is a fantastic character and Chris Engen is a great actor. Kudos to whoever found him, he's awesome. I am also loving Adam's galpal Skye...a smart, somewhat bitchy woman. FINALLY.

I am loving the hints of the magic that is Victor and Nikki. When lame Sabrina broke up their friendly 'thanks for my cell phone' exchange I wanted to break my TV. The problem is that a happy Victor and Nikki is a boring Victor and Nikki...perhaps they need to stay broken up...but have a hot affair that they both regret and conceal, I'd like that.

I am loving the destruction of David Chow. Vincent Irrizarry is a very convincing gambling addict and Don Diamont is beyond fun, finally Brad is back to being the supporting bastard de jour as he used to be!

However, the show needs to do itself a favor and get rid of the entire Fisher/Baldwin clan. The only one who gets to survive is Lauren and baby Fenmore...Christian LeBlanc has become such an albatross to the show, Michael Baldwin seems to have run his course, such a shame. Ditto Greg 'I play a barista' Rikaart and Judith 'I can open my eyes REALLY wide' Chapman who both used to be fun but are now such drags.

I would love for Michael to stay also, but LeBlanc needs to start acting again. He used to be so compelling. And he needs to start getting a darker side again, just like Lauren needs to turn bitchy again.

From the little I saw of Skye, I loved her. I like the actress also.

    • Regarding the mobster storyline: The scripts, the cardroom set, and the writing for Joey -- are all terrible. They seem to be writing a realistic depiction of compulsive gambling as an addiction, showing that it pops into his head all the time -- it has become hardwired into his brain.  The APA (American Psychological Association) describes compulsive gambling as having a similar effect on the physical brain as drug and alcohol addiction. https://www.apa.org/monitor/2023/07/how-gambling-affects-the-brain I think Jason Graham (Doug) is doing an adequate job playing Doug as a compulsive gambler, with the thoughts/urges coming into his head all the time, and being unable to stop. However, the cardroom set is awful and the mobster storyline is a bad cliché, so it's all so uninteresting to watch. I think Mr. Graham is doing the best he can with the crap they gave him to work with. If anyone reading or watching has a gambling issue, check out Gamblers Anonymous.  They have many types of meetings -- in-person, online, video, audio, etc.  They also have resources for friends/family of compulsive gamblers.
    • Today was painful (especially for Philip).  I still feel for Xander. He was clear he was happy sharing and working with Philip. It's just one more betrayal from someone he loved. Going back to last year when he found out about Victor and Fiona, then Alex and Philip. He forgave and tried. Then Philip went behind his back again. He's been walking on the edge for weeks. This is a man who was abused, neglected and has never had any therapy for his horrific past. He has zero coping skills because he's never learned them. I hate this but I refuse to hate Xander
    • Lucy Coe wasn't even this big of a whore.
    • Kate being the one that Alex called was a nice surprise. The cut to her looking all sheek made me instantly get excited for her to get back into business mode. And the Jack reference from when she first came to town (on-screen) was inserted naturally which is always welcome. When they were talking about how much sex sells, I almost got the impression they were sizing each other up in a May/December type of way.  All the Philip stuff was gruesome. I'm happy the show isn't shying away from Xander's ugliness. I love them both, and it just makes me intrigued for the aftermath for it all to be taken seriously. I cheered when Philip spat out at that Sarah knew the truth. I'm on tenterhooks for their eventual confrontation. I was surprised that Kate wasn't a little vicious towards Sarah for Xander's obvious behavior, but maybe that's still to come. How wonderfully entangled is it that both Philip and Shawn/Steve stopped each other from getting the drug. Both equally at fault. Who/what will ultimately save Bo? And with everything going on, is a Salem where it's looking likely that EJ is about to own the hospital imminent?
    • Oddly.. Chase and Steve seem to have both vanished from the canvas in December so the Estelle return loses impact when two of her kids stop appearing shortly after her return (and I assume TR leaves in early 1986 as well). The Steve recast doesn't work... but it's odd that he has a long scene with Teri with Cagney looking jealous.. when the majority of his time on the show previously was a relationship and engagement to Stephanie (who he barely has a scene with in the episodes I see). Your idea for Wendy/Bela/Stephanie sounds just like what Ryan's Hope did with Michael/Kim/Rae... and considering Louise Shaffer was playing Rae and Stephanie.. it would have been a lousy redux of a superior story on another soap (that had months of build-up) I think Quinn becoming assistant to Stephanie was Mayer/Braxton... but not 100 % sure. I don't know if Mayer/Braxton was setting up Sarah as a bad girl disguised as a good girl.. but the actress (Joyner) was playing the scenes in that manner.. and Tomlin wisely tapped into that when he took over.
    • She’s such a caricature - which is a shame because I think the actress is capable of so much more.   I don’t know why Cady often feels like she has overcompensated in her performances. She already proved she can play much more than just Dixie Cooley during her first stint at ATWT (her best acting era). Her performances in various roles since then have been quite strange at times.
    • It feels like the show suddenly woke up today and remembered it was Sweeps month. Lots of action and forward momentum, including a delicious Nina/Carly fight.
