Colby Chandler of "All My Children" is getting a makeover ... sort of. Ambyr Childers, who's played Adam's (David Canary) once-spoiled-now-saintly daughter since 2006, is leaving, and Colby's been recast.

Starting May 7, Colby's going to look like 25-year-old newcomer Brianne Moncrief. A graduate of Fordham University's performing-arts program, Brianne has a lot of stage credits and a "Sopranos" episode to her name.

This really disappoints me. I know SID mentioned she was pretty much on her way out a while ago, but I thought she was safe. I didn't like her as Colby at first, but she really grew into a great actress. I'm saddened to see her go. Hopefully she'll turn up on GH as Serena.

I know, there wasnt really a need to recast her. AC was doing a fine job in the role and was perfect as the daughter of Adam and Liza. It wasnt like she was a horrible actress or had opted to leave, and it wasnt like fans didnt like her (or she'd have been gone long ago), it just reeks of a recasting for the sake of recasting.

Btw, does anyone see a resemblance between AC and Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl?

Too stupid for words. They should have done a Colby/Dre/Cassandra triangle and put Frankie with someone older. They had to pair Jesse's son with Liza's daughter. Hate it. Stupid. What else is new?

I hope Amber goes on to bigger and better soon.

The pairing of Jesse's son and Liza's daughter would be a smart idea. Just one little problem...FRANKIE WAS BEEN BORN 15 YEARS BEFORE COLBY IN REAL TIME! I understand the need to SORAS and de-SORAS from time to time, but the real-time age gap between these two is just too great to ignore. On the other hand, though, I'm not a fan of Amber's, and I'm glad they've at least chosen someone with some acting experience who can keep up with David Canary. Just wishing that the birth timelines made a modicum of sense.

    • I really wish we could see that episode...absolutely, my memory could be faulty, it was a very long time ago. I'm not going to contradict what the actors said--there has to be a reason it made them so uncomfortable that they talked about it in the press and complained to TPTB. I think that was the first one where they made the point that they wanted to educate the audience about the subject.
    • I just did with GL and its made me very happy!

Oh yes, trying to get into any soap from scratch starting post-2010 would be hard. I prefer to go back to the good ol' days, before the decline.
    • Can we talk about how iconic the 1994 tornado was on AMC? I was scanning through old episodes last night and came across this episode. The tornado was epic and the storylines/aftermath were so good (Julia's scar/Noah!; Jenny/Ray/Nola/Jesse in heaven with Tad, etc).  For 1994, these special effects and budget for this big event were amazing. 10 out of 10!  The only thing missing is Erica!  I can't recall where Erica was at the time, but I really wish she had been involved in this storyline.

    • On the way to her own engagement party? I've read that the show had trouble getting the audience to sympathize with Rita, but...that seems bizarre. Maybe I can understand the issue with the censors, given that at the time, rape wasn't depicted the way it is now, and marital rape was even less acknowledged.  Wasn't Chris Brooks' rape one of the first honest stories on the subject? I just don't think I could get into a show I didn't have a working knowledge of. I know it's a different era, but I really tried to get into GH once Maura West joined, but it just never jelled.
    • Yes it was! My mom and I convinced my dad to get one. He was--how shall I put this?--on the thrifty side, but one day he came home with one as a surprise. To this day, I'm convinced it fell off a truck. (He knew people with "connections."

) BUT, we had our VCR and we could watch our soaps. That thing lasted forever! It was built like a tank. Even when we got new ones with more features, we kept that one.

Blasphemy!  (Haha, I get it.  But, you should try watching AMC! 80s-90s was so good.)
    • I thought about saying how I resented the fact that those two newbies were tripping up the Puppetmaster of all Puppetmasters, when the best others could do was a stalemate (or less...). But, well...*sigh*
    • I read years ago that both Zaslow and Lenore both complained that it came off as a seduction because of CBS censors, so Lenore asked if she could say, "you raped me" to leave no doubt with the audience, and that Zaslow insisted that Holly's rape played realistically
    • Wow it’s official, Gatwa is out… https://www.avclub.com/ncuti-gatwa-addresses-doctor-who-finale-statement DW fandom on Reddit is in a furor over how things went down and apparent last minute scrapping of the original ending. Also…Billie Piper again really?
    • He comes pretty close, talkin' about how Reva is full of love and joy, blah blah....which is bilge considering he was the one responsible for throwing her out of Josh's life over working with Alan.
