I don't think revamping the show is the answer, and they probably won't do that. They need to tweak things here and there, mostly in the characterization department. Definitely have Phyllis grow a set again. The giggly homemaker shtick is REALLY wearing thin. Jack needs to be redefined too. They need to reestablish his gray side as well, and it looks like they might be doing it with this Alistair thing. I actually like him with Sharon (and Sharon Case is such an underrated actress IMO), but they are a bit too sickeningly sweet at times. Also, Gloria needs to be toned down.

Also, I don't care what rabid fans they have, but please BREAK NICK AND PHYLLIS UP. UGH, they're so boring and the whole basis of their relationship is sex and video games. Though I don't necessarily want Jack and Phyllis back together, their relationship was so complex and there was so many layers to it, Peter Bergman and Michelle Stafford brought out the best in one another.

^^^I agree Y&RWorldTurner, and I'm a Phick fan. They've just become so boring lately. I'd like to see them try Phyllis with Brad, DD and MS have mad hate chemistry! Plus Brad could use a new story. I'd also like to see a new opening or for this one to be updated with new shots, they still have that shot of Nikki when she had the Rod Stewart hair style.

I liked Phyllis and Jack well enough, but I don't think they'd be the same if they ever got back together, too much has happened. They work best as friends now IMO.

Phyllis needs someone new though. I am LOVING Jack & Sharon though. Peter and Sharon(Case) are great together IMO

They seem to be building story for Phyllis and Nick. I don't mind them being backburned and a little boring right now if it means adding some relationship layers and building up to something--which I think they are with Adam's fasination. But I agree with everyone else in that Phyllis needs her edge back. Thing is, she has had an edge with him before but it seemed to evaporate once LML took over and married them off. I wonder if it's an acting choice on Michelle's part to keep her subdued. I'm not interested in Phyllis back with Jack. I'm really glad that ship seems to have sailed. Same with Sharon and Nick. Let's move on to ...

It's time for Nick, Phyllis, Jack, and Sharon to spread out and stop being in one another's universes.

There's no layers to Nick and Phyllis's relationship PERIOD. She had a complex relationship with Jack that was riveting to watch. It's only sex on the couch and video games with Nick, which is something I don't care to see almost every time they're in a scene together.

A little boring right now? Nick and Phyllis have been boring ever since the affair ended and they became a legitimate couple. What made them interesting was their forbidden affair and sexual chemistry. Now, all of the forbidden-ness is GONE and they're not interesting anymore. As I said before, no layers to this relationship whatsoever, that's why I don't care, and I did care when Phyllis was happy and in love with Jack, so it's not a question of marital bliss making them bland.

I think they have room for everbody. But they need to get rid of the weakest link CK & TS. Who really care that CKLily is a model she'll never be a modle like how VRDru was.

I love to see Nina back or bring back Mac see if Cane would hide that he's related to her.

I hope Michael get the storyline back where he was trying to find out who his real father is.

You right Brad does have his good points.

I'm just so excited that LML is gone. I knew she was going ot be a hack when she got rid of talented young actress. Who are willing to improve.

Keep Jack, Sharon, Nick and Phyllis in business together. Love Jack and Sharon. Bring Heather Tom back as Victoria. Victor/Sabrina looks interesting but something about the actress playing Sabrina is not working.

Get rid of Amber and Jana.

I really would like to see a Diane Jenkins return (in the form of Alex Donnelly)

The USA episode of Y&R tomorrow looks promising as far as Jill, Nikki and Katherine (who is decked out in 'blood' diamonds, take THAT LML). It appears Ms Arena Bell knows how Jill Abbott is meant to be! That being said, both Jill and Kay need storylines that are somewhat independent of each other. I don't think they need to be so attached at the hip. Jess Walton is hip, sexy and talented: give this woman something worthy of her talents! Jeanne Cooper could really mix with the younger crowd well, perhaps she could start hating David Chow, there are LOTS of options. I certainly would love to see Cane Is a Fraud come to fruition.

I feel for Doug Davidson, he really needs a story (paging Diane Jenkins!)...I would love to see Drucilla come back and blow Karen outta the water.

Time for Eyal Podell to be fired. Sorry but he's AWFUL and BORING. A total dud. Ditto Sabrina, she's like an adult film star, not working at all.

I totally agree that the quad needs to be away from each other. To be fair, I can count on one hand how many times Phyllis and Nick have played video games. And as much as I like the sexiness of them, I'm glad we can say goodbye to the period of time, after the strike started, of nothing but sex on the couch. I like them. I am not a rabid fan but I do enjoy their easy chemistry and natural way between them. Yes, happy couples are boring couples, that is for sure. For me, post-amnesia Nick does not have the history with Phyllis that his prior incarnation had, I feel like we're starting over with them. I was more connected prior to the plane crash. I would like to see his memory come back so we could deal with one relationship and not two halfs of one. I'm pretty sure the new writers will continue to invest with them. I liked her with Jack, but grew tired of him screwing her over. In addition, the "drama" of Jack and Phyllis became too much for me. I know others like them. But I am glad the writers seem to be making Phyllis and Nick solid cause that means they're going to cause some trouble for them and that is when they shine.

Can't wait.

    • I don't really care about what the men are wearing, or not wearing.   What I care about is focusing on the writing and character development for each of the male characters. Andre really doesn't have a lot of character development that sets him apart from the other male characters except that he seems content to be degraded and mistreated by the elitist Dani.  I would like to know why a good looking younger guy like Andre would willingly be at the mercy of an emotional vampire such as Dani.   Martin, on the other hand, seems to have decent character development.. and it is partly due to how the actor chooses to recite his lines.  Martin was raised in a very privileged household and probably went to the best schools... so it makes sense that he would come across as thinking he was above everyone else.  Most people raised in a upper class situation as the Duprees would view themselves as better than others (it's the same trait Dani seems to employ on those she feels superior to). It makes me wonder how Nicole came out of that family being so warm and nurturing  when her family dynamics seemed very appearance oriented.
    • I know, right. I after just re-reading the thread, I'm like ooppph!
    • Lulu and Dante were divorced before her coma, but she was still in love with him.  He just didn't know.  They haven't been married for years.    I was pretty mixed about Lulu getting involved when it was just a child out there in the world, but now that she realizes it's Gio I am okay with her telling Dante.  It also is her son's sibling.  I still think it's BLQ's choice though.  Lulu is in a rough spot because I think Dante will be mad if she keeps it a secret and Chase, Brook, Lois, etc will be mad if Lulu tells. Without veering too far into the classic area of the show, I had no problem with Robin telling AJ about Michael.  It may not have *exactly* been her place, but she could see how Carly was manipulating the entire situation.  It also ruined her romantic relationship with Jason for good.  Jason and Sonny were furious with Robin and practically ran her out of town, so I think we were to believe she was the bad guy.  It was a bit out of character for Robin to spill, but KMc was leaving the show.
    • Rewatching/binging THE X-FILES Seasons 1 and 2 (almost done). So much fun re-experiencing, especially re-discovering some of the monster-of-the-week stories. THE WEST WING Seasons 1 and 2 as well - so good to rewatch now with 20 years more life experience and understanding. ALSO.... lol FOOTBALLERS' WIVES Season 3, which is just as bonkers as I remember and so so so so fun. I had forgotten about that iconic season cliffhanger. Good times. Excited to rewatch Seasons 4 and 5 since I remember so very little about them. Hope you've been enjoying!
    • @Toups Tyler Topits listed in alpha order with the breakdown writers 5/12 Monday episode. O'Connor still listed as both breakdown and script writer. Kreizman wrote today's script.
    • Marland was long gone by this point.  He quit in either August/September 1982. I think it was due to letting the actress play out her contract and use her for party scenes and/or scenes with Phillip/Justin.   I was surprised she was still on in June 1983 myself, because I figured she had been written out before Pam Long joined the writing staff. Thankfully, having episodes uploaded during this period on Spauldingfield YT site has helped to connect some of the dots.  It looks as though Pam Long starts the first week or so of May 1983.. and in those first few weeks: Morgan and Evie were both written off and Lillian/Mindy/Billy/Beth/Annabelle all come onto the show.
