February 20, 200817 yr Administrator http://marlenadelacroix.com/?p=54 When Bo, who had been passed out while his father smothers, awoke to discover his father’s shrouded dead body, Peter Reckell harrowingly delivered the most poignant acting moment of the soap year. Word!! This was such a great scene by Peter. He is so underrated. How did Maxam stage this airplane crash so realistically? That, darlings, is cinematic magic of the sort we rarely if ever see on soaps anymore. And sadly, Days isn’t the only soap that is operating on a budget of $1.98 anymore. Certainly, the show’s executive producer Ed Scott must be lauded for putting this totally out of the ordinary soap episode together. Fantastic work! $1.98 LOL!! Major kudos to Maxam and Scott for their marvelous work. I really hope Noel Maxam gets a Director's Guild nomination for the 2008 season, as well as a Best Directing Team nod for DAYS at the 2009 Daytime Emmys. DAYS deserves to be up for major awards for this episode.
February 20, 200817 yr Member Those shows were wonderfully done; if there's any justice in the soap world (which there probably isn't), DAYS will be recognized at awards time. Peter Reckell, who's always been one of my favorites, is doing some of the finest work I've ever seen from him. I thought the scene where he regained consciousness and found out about his "pop" was better than his work during the Zack storyline.
February 20, 200817 yr Member Wasn't DAYS last nominated in the Directing category at the Daytime Emmy's in 2006? Since the directing category is decided a bit differently from the acting categories, writing category, and series category, it's not impossible for DAYS to land a nomination at the Daytime Emmy's for directing. However, numerically, they stand almost no chance for nominations in the acting categories and series. The Director's Guild Awards and Writer's Guild Awards are decided upon very strangely, its anyone's guess who gets nominated for those, since most of their soap nominations are so undeserving.

Yup, DAYS was last nominated for Best Directing in 2006. Last Director's Guild nomination was in 2005 for Herb Stein/Albert Alarr
February 20, 200817 yr Member I'm not a regular DAYS viewer, but when I started reading about Fridays show over the weekend, I made sure to record the Soapnet repeat. Fantastic stuff all around! I was totally blown away by the directing, story and acting. Kudos to the show and Ed Scott and Noel Maxam.
February 20, 200817 yr Member Thanks for posting. I'm sure other soaps will try to do a better job than Days. I hope they fail, btw. lol Edited February 20, 200817 yr by Rakesh
February 20, 200817 yr Member Word!! This was such a great scene by Peter. He is so underrated.I agree, he was phenomenal! And I like this story with Bo's illness because it's nice to see him in scenes where other people have to take care of him for a change. I bet we have some pretty great scenes ahead of us. February 20, 200817 yr Member Great article, glad to see Days getting some praise..I expect SOD to give the plane crash moment of the week as well..With so many people tuning in to friday's episode, i hope Days can get a nice bump from this...They have had a lot of publicity..
February 20, 200817 yr Member Glad to see the show getting praise. It needs it and deserves it. I totally agree about PR too. With the exception of the Zack story, he's doing the work of his career IMO.
February 21, 200817 yr Member Is there a clip on YouTube? I missed this plane crash. Would love to see what the Y&R folk are doing for DAYS.
