Holy Smokin Hot! I am a little jealous, my BF's eyes popped out of his head when he saw Sarah. I was very happy that she was on for the whole show and we just didn't see her walk in a bar at the end of the show. Oh and Sonny, nice porn music. I loved how they interacted with the writing of the napkins and the looks. And I am eating my words. I said previously that I would look at her and see Carly. Nope, Total different vibe and attitude from her and I love Claudia (except the name) She was smokin, I cannot wait for her scenes with Maurice tomorrow.

Greg Vaughn was on fire today. His scenes with Liz and especially Sam were so amazing. Take that bitch!

When will Carly learn? Your kid is heading for killing someone and your wanting another one? Great move. If you are concerned that he is acting up in school, why are you talking about Coop not being the TMK when he is upstairs? How about going outside for some privacy? Didn't you notice that the Devil Spawn ask if Daddy and Jason killed Coop? To me and I think most parents that would be a huge red flag.

I was so happy with this show today. Sarah made it for me as did Greg

- Epiphany pisses me the frak off! I haven't been able to stand her since day 1, but god, all the woman does is berate people for talking to each other. GOOD. GOD.

- Kate rocks my ass (28/01) and Sonny sucks boots.

- Sam > Liz. Someone said on another board that the only thing worse than a selfish bitch is someone who behaves the same way and pretends she isen't. Sam knows she's been horrible. She knows she's made rediculous mistakes. Liz doesn't. Liz thinks the world begins and ends with her and Jason's lovenest.

My friend thinks its some character named Diego Alcazar(sp?) becuase of something that was said today on the show. She said the guy that works at Kelly's(where goergie worked) made a comment about being a photographer and that he take pictures of girls(apperently there was some SL on GH where Diego took pics of girls in college) and so she thinks that this guy is Diego with plastic surgery. She said that she is convinced that is who it is.

wow, good point and ITA. I like that Sam is a bitch, knows it and she owns that. She doesnt pretend to be anything else or try to come off as a saint. Unlike Liz who is a selfish, hypocrtical bitch just like those she condemns, yet views herself to a higher standard as if she's some innocent angel.

Well I pleasently surprised. Yes milk does a body good. Sarah looked good and hot. I love the vibe I get from Maurice and her and well tomarrow looks even sexier. There were hardly any words but the eyes and body language said it all for me.

All I need now is some Johnny and Lulu interaction and I will be in heaven.

see, i would love sam IF she owned up to being a skanky selfish bitch, but she doesnt. ever. she plays the "woe is me" card. the feel sorry for me. have pitty for me. poor poor me.

i also dont see Liz as someone who thinks shes perfect. she knows she has made mistakes, but she deosnt obsess over them. she moves on from them.

What was so great about this episode is that it wasn't Sarah Brown-focused. And it didn't end with that homage to CarSon Hate Sex, thankfully. Most everybody on canvas got some love yesterday under Garin Wolf's direction.

Monica was on fire tearing Luke a new one (and the music at the beginning Q scene was so reminiscent of Santa Barbara's background music, I almost cheered. In fact, all the background music was old-skool GH). I love seeing the Qs go beyond the high-jinks. Especially Monica and Tracy! There seems to be purpose behind their snarky humor now, instead of just being filler.

Kate and Jax have great chemistry! And I want Kate's lilac-blue coat.

Jax really is the Voice of Reason. Carly is deluded. Pest Spray talked about how Sam knows she is a bitch and flawed, while Liz behaves the same way but pretends she is the opposite? Cujo has the same problem. Thinks she's God's answer to Saintly Motherhood -- and let's everybody know it -- when in fact she is WAY far from that particular illusion. I suspect she loves Michael being all "protective" and "manly" of her -- another guy who views her as the center of his universe now that Sonny and Jason are struggling to pull away into a different orbit.

Greg Vaughan was a stand-out and I hope this puts to rest some people's perceptions that he is just some ex-model trying to act. GV was so measured and just let the tension and anger and sadness build. Not like an actor with one eye on a possible Emmy reel. He didn't overdo the self-righteous shouting like we've seen Sonny and Jason do -- he just snuffed out all those candles angrily and let that action do the talking. Lucky was written as a human being yesterday, and not just a plot-point. And, as a consequence, Sam (and KeMo) rose to the challenge, too. The way she stroked his face, you could tell she has really fallen for him and you could see Lucky's struggle in his eyes, too. The way she reacted wasn't like somebody trying to absolve herself of responsibility, it was a move towards apology and wanting to be honest and explain. I really want LuSam as a pairing now (and I wasn't 100% sold on them before).

And what a relief not having Claudia and Sonny yakking it up as SBr and MB try to outdo each other's scenery chewing. The looks and silent gestures were perfect. Sarah Brown, especially, played it just right. Her Carly had been this jittery broad who compulsively played with her hands, usually when she was on the defensive. Masculine and also physically imposing with her height and her curves, at odds with tiny, slight brunettes like Robin, Liz and Brenda. Claudia, by contrast, seems to be very feline and female. However, paradoxically, she doesn't feel as "in your face" physically as Carly was. There was also that moment of uncertainty and shock when Sonny passed her his key. She couldn't quite believe it. Like, did he just do that? Carly wouldn't have thought twice about it. Of course men find her attractive!

Sorry for writing so much. It's just I haven't watched a GH episode as good as this in, literally, years.

and it seems that its sweeps time and GH isnt goin a huge event *gasp* but rather telling storys... with people we care about... shocking concept!

i wonder if this is how JFP wants GH or id BF has backed off or what. i awlays thought for GH to be good they would nee to get rid of jill, brian, and guza... not just guza...

You know, I hope this story-telling, character-centric focus is a taste of things to come. Otherwise I will be dreading the end of the Strike.

And I'm not sure who is doing the controlling over at GH right now. I do think that the focus on characters has been WAY more balanced under Garin Wolf and I'm wondering whether his work throughout the years on GH's writing staff has given him a deeper appreciation of most of the characters on canvas? And maybe JFP has a hand in that, too. God knows I'm not a fan but she did do some good work on Santa Barbara. She just needs to rein in her urge to a) turn any soap she's on into a police procedural, b ) kill off major vets for a ratings spike and c ) stop firing actresses when they fall pregnant.

My rambling:

I think Carly, Sam and Elizabeth are all hypocritical. Just because Sam might admit that she did a bad thing doesn't mean she's being completely honest and that's the key. Most of her admissions come with a built in excuse anyway. And the current example of how hypocritical she is concerns her insistence that Elizabeth tell Lucky the truth about Jake while she wanted to hold on to all her secrets to ensure she didn't lose Lucky. Owning her flaws doesn't make her less of a hypocrite. Elizabeth comes across more as the character who knows she does wrong but focuses on someone else's wrongdoings based on intent, as in she's not doing a wrong thing with bad intent but the next person is. She's a hypocrite nonetheless. Carly's of the same variety in terms of seeing her intentions as justification but she's a lot more overt than Elizabeth and because her way of going about things is more dramatic, it's more noticeable than Elizabeth's actions.

I never see what most people see in the actors. There are probably a handful of actors that I feel deliver each and every time. Then there are another small set that I believe can deliver and are hindered by the writing. The bulk fall in the okay to good category for me. GV has his moments but he's in the bulk category to me. I think it's kind of rare when an actor takes a role and makes it his own and without giving it any thought, the only person on GH I can say that about without reservation is Anthony Geary. I cannot visualize any actor taking over the role of Luke and bringing any layer to it that AG hasn't already or more importantly, couldn't. Even though MB has defined Sonny for me, I can see the possibilily of Sonny taking on another face and different layers. I happened to have been hung up on the idea that only VM could play Brenda since she defined the character but even though I would prefer her in the role, I don't think I'd have a problem with someone else playing her (even though I don't think the role should ever be recast).

^ya know, i am walys the first to say that almost any role can be recasted... but... brenda barrett is one of those few roles i just do not think can be. no not because vanessa marcil is the best actress to every walk the planet, but because i think that soooo much of what makes brenda Brenda comes from within Vanessa. Much like Greens on AMC. Yes the role could be recasted, and it could work, but the char would lose a lot of what made that char a char people loved.

    • Concluding 1976... Raymond Schafer arrives in Springfield and begins an extensive probe into Malcolm’s death, puzzling Ed, who wonders why most of Schafer’s question sessions keep turning back to Rita’s involvement with Malcolm. Ed assures the man that Rita’s only connection with Malcolm was as his nurse; he is unaware that Schafer knows a great deal more about Rita than he does. Just to protect Rita, Ed has Mike check on Schafer’s credentials, and learns that he’s a  well-respected criminal attorney. The waitress at the restaurant where Malcolm suffered his stroke tells Schafer that the woman who was with him reacted very professionally to the sudden emergency, as if she were a nurse. Realizing that her little sister has fallen hard for Tim, Rita warns him that she’s very vulnerable and innocent, but Tim tells Rita her advice isn’t necessary. But Tim then receives a plum job offer to be chief neurological resident at a prestigious Philadelphia hospital and can’t pass up the opportunity. Evie is crushed by the news and spends the next several days at home crying. Joe Werner, fully recovered, has accepted a post as a medical aide in a destitute village in India and leaves alone, with Sarah to follow him later. Justin asks Sarah to consider a partnership with him in private practice, but she explains that she thrives on the hospital atmosphere. When a call comes from India that Joe has had another massive attack, Sarah leaves on the next available flight and arrives only moments before he dies. The painful news is relayed back to Cedars at once. Sara returns from India a heartbroken woman, but the day-to-day involvement of raising T.J. and of her career seem to be her salvation. Justin shows a surprisingly compassionate and understanding side to Sara, but, ironically, Justin’s ex-wife, Jackie, arrives in Springfield with her diabetic father, who is suffering from a heart attack. In the process of consulting with Justin on her father’s condition, Jackie comes face to face with Sara for the first time since their college days. Evie’s heartbreak at Tim’s departure turns to fury and hatred when she inadvertently discovers a letter which Tim wrote to Rita just after he left. In it he concedes that Rita was right about Evie’s vulnerability where he was concerned but reminds Rita that he badly hurt her in the same way she feared Evie would suffer. Evie is now sure that Rita somehow forced Tim to leave town and is livid at the idea that Tim was Rita’s lover. She insists she’s cutting off her relationship with Rita and will pay her back for any help she’s received in the past. Ben and Hope’s wedding plans are off, as Ben, while still insisting he’s innocent, won’t explain why the robbery evidence points to him. Hope feels his unwillingness to tell her the truth makes marriage to him impossible, but confides to Ann that she is miserable without him. Ben has echoed these sentiments to Mike but won’t confide in him, either as Hope’s father or as an attorney.   Holly is trying very hard to build a life without Ed, but since she sees him virtually every day at work, she’s unable to put him out of her mind. She accepts a date with a member of the hospital administration staff but is unable to avoid making comparisons between Ed and this young man and winds up alone, sadly holding Ed’s picture and recalling how much she loves him. Believing that the hospital board’s conclusions on Grainger’s death have settled the question once and for all, Rita has regained her self-confidence, and her romance with Ed is growing daily. They admit their love for each other, and Ed confides that he intentionally  held back with Rita for fear of making another mistake. Rita then tells Ed she has never married because for her marriage must be forever. Rita’s mother realizes that Rita is truly in love when she confides in her that she doesn’t understand why she’s been so lucky in having him love her and how she wants to be the very best person she can be for him. Ed proposes marriage to Rita and gives her time to think about it before answering. Rita painfully realizes that her past could, if it rose again against her, make a life with Ed a lost dream. But Raymond Shaefer has been quietly but efficiently carrying on his investigation and has learned that Grainger argued with Rita at her apartment. He presents the evidence he’s compiled to District Attorney Eric Van Gelder, who decides the case warrants further investigation. Rita goes to Ed’s office to tell him she loves him but can’t marry him, that she doesn’t deserve him and “can’t do it to him.” As she turns from a confused Ed to leave, she finds the district attorney and a police officer outside Ed’s door, waiting to arrest her. Ed, insisting that a serious mistake has been made, calls Mike to help her as Rita, shocked and humiliated, is taken under arrest through the hallways of the hospital in which she works. Mike manages Rita’s release on bail only after she has had to submit to the degrading booking procedure. Mike sees her alone at her apartment, explaining he can help her only if she tells him the whole truth. Rita equivocates until Mike mentions Texas, indicating to Rita that he knows at least some of the story. Van Gelder has, in fact, let Mike see the bulk of evidence in the case against Rita, to convince him her arrest wasn’t a capricious whim. Rita explains to Mike that Malcolm believed she intentionally vilified him to his father, to do him out of his rightful inheritance, and then wanted his father dead to collect her money. Mike expresses his appreciation of Rita’s honesty, promising to help her. But Rita’s tormented dreams confirm that she hasn’t yet told all the truth, and after Peggy visits, expressing firm support, Rita tells Roger she has to reveal his part in the story. Roger painfully tells Rita about his being Christina’s father to show her that if Ed knew, it would end Rita’s chances with him forever. Rita, who was ready to tell Ed the whole story, now realizes how risky that would be. Adding to Rita’s pain is her forced leave of absence from the hospital until she’s cleared and the embarrassment of seeing her name in the headlines.

    • Yes, but the stories are all pretty awful Seeing Victor rehashing his hatred of the Abbotts  when he married one of them and has a daughter that is half Abbott as well as walking around with Traci's daughter's heart keeping him alive makes him look worse than he already is. And I remember he and Jack chatting amicably in the past few years. Victor interfering in Kyle/Claire is just repeat of Billy/Victoria. Sharon, Nick,Phyllis etc are around but again the stories are lacking.
    • I think Kevin's 1996 Emmy was fair enough. He barely appeared for his second. I don't think anyone else on the list is that deserving but I might have gone with Moore as he did try with the whole Keesha AIDS story. @alwaysAMC Thanks to slick jones' cast list I was able to see that Nikki Rene played Tina. Not much on her, as you mentioned. Tap and a few Broadway listings (it doesn't help that a younger actress with a similar name is in a lot of roles). • Thank you. That does ring a bell. I remember Theresa and Julian's drunk, giggly fake wedding (with Julian asking "Whassup?" to the minister). Was Bruce tricking the pair as a prank, or did somebody put him up to it? I especially liked Katherine recalling how dashing young Alistair was when he'd pick up Rachel for dates, and how she wished she could be her sister, then feeling guilty once Rachel had her boating accident ...
    • And Kevin Mambo beat Shemar Moore for those two Emmys. I chalk up the wins to the voters not wanting Jonathan Jackson to eventually end up with a five peat (he won 1995, 1998, 1999). These were the 1996 and 1997 Younger Actor races. 1996: Nathan Fillion, Jonathan Jackson, Kevin Mambo (winner), Shemar Moore, Joshua Morrow 1997: Steve Burton, Jonathan Jackson, Kevin Mambo (winner), Shemar Moore, Joshua Morrow

    • Today's episode was excellent. Clearly it was confrontation day and they didn't disappoint. I'm glad they didn't forget Mona in all of this and gave us an opportunity to see how she's dealing with this. A major highlight for me were the Kat and Martin scenes. Their chemistry is off the charts and I don't understand why we haven't gotten more of this. I love how they take turns calming each other down. They feel really well matched and believable as siblings. Speaking of siblings, they anvils were dropping strong that Kat and Eva are twins but I do wish someone would mention that they are essentially hood twins which might throw people off the scent.  I'm one of the people who enjoyed Joey and the gambling storyline so it was nice to see him again. It was nice to see different characters like Mona and Eva in that element instead of the usual players. When Doug arrived I don't know what hit me but I just see a funeral in his future. He seems so hopeless and has the worst luck. I just can't see him surviving the year at this rate.
