Thursday: 2.4/3,001,000

Friday: 2.5/3,178,000

Well, is it really a surprise the soaps did bad on Christmas and Christmas Eve?

I only watched my shows on Soapnet and the other soaps that aren't on Soapnet I didn't even catch. People have things to do and with soaps not being what they used to be, people would rather be elsewhere. Even Days with it's great episodes those two days is not anything worth people going out of their way to make sure they see it.

Good for all the soaps. Good for Days. The Christmas show the day after Christmas strategy seems to work well. I have to say with the numbers we saw in the ABC release I thought Days would have higher then a 2.1. It just made it sound bigger. I, too, question that numbers a bit. Something seems weird.

I don't know. Only 3 days will be counted and some people took the whole week off due to the short week. Those that did that had more time on their hands then before Christmas and the week between Christmas and New Year's. Usually, late December-mid January brings solid numbers, even in recent time. The last few years the highest numbers usually came the first 2-3 weeks of January. I remember MLK day numbers always being good, even recently.

Happy to see all the soaps get a bump, it is much needed. :)

FINALLY, OLTL gets the ++++++ in all demos!

It was really a great the Xmas week leading into New Years.

I know many treat OLTL as the red headed step child but it seriously has improved and deserves the positive #'s.

Finally the Marcie kidnapping is coming to an end and everyone is going back to Llanview. I predict good things in 2008, but then I am not psychic, just OPTIMISTIC :D

I think it's good, and I definitely think it's better than ATWT. I find that unwatchable and just a year or two ago it was still one of the most literate soaps left on the air. Luke and Noah is the only thing worth watching on that show and to me even that story isn't very good. Jean Passanante has turned it into an even worse imitation of her AMC days.

I've actually had the chance to watch some other soaps besides DAYS, and I must admit that DAYS is becoming a wonderful show that I haven't seen in quite awhile. It's been a lot better than the summer of 2007 that's for sure. I haven't seen ATWT in over a decade, but honestly, it hasn't taken me long in order to figure out who is who and what's going on with whom. ATWT is kicking butt too and I've scratched my head in disbelief because why does GL suck so bad? I've tried to be optimistic with GL but can't seem to because the show is really THAT bad. The storylines are choppy, the comedy scenes with Dinah's Christmas ITL was written as BAD comedy, and the Christmas Eve show that was taken outside the GL studios obviously looked like they were taped in NYC because you could obviously see some of the familiar skyscrapers in the wonderful Big Apple. And it's suppose to be Springfield? Dumb move Ellen Wheeler.

But good job DAYS and ATWT!

    • To bring over from the May Sweeps Thread from @Chris B   I know the fashions have gotten mixed reviews but I actually like what the new costume designer is putting the cast in. It feels more modern and the more tacky pieces I feel make sense for rich people. They're buying for the brand and the price and we often see celebs in things like this. Especially for a character like Nikki, I feel the more over the top (and tacky), the more realistic it is.   I agree. While it has been hit and miss no question, I have found it fascinating to watch what the costume designer is attempting to do with the various characters and their clothes. Some have been overdue. Some have been fascinating. But (outside of Billy) not boring to watch. I definitely find it more modern as well.   My growing issue has been it's not good that the best reason to watch Y&R as of late has been to see what people are wearing rather than the writing. It feels like a red flag.
    • Haha. The fact that I stopped regularly viewing at the same time and know what you are talking about is chef's kiss.    I'm slowly bingewatching Nurse's Ball Week. But it's slow for me because a lot of the same tics and writing flaws for me that made me throw up my hands is still evident *cough*CVE*cough* Thankfully, there are some things I like also and from a glance in the GH May Thread, it seem like it had a good Sweeps with good fallout. And do I even need to mention Nina finally slapping the taste out of Carly's mouth? See? Regardless of her flaws, I do enjoy Korte-headed episodes over CVE-headed episodes because they always seem to have more emotional resonance to long-time fans.
    • And that charity does still get mentioned from time to time. I want to say the last time was some time this year, too.
    • Oh, no. Vernon has definitely had his moments.   Choose silence anyone?
    • Search YT for Edwyn Sanchez, he posted an AI enhanced episode of ATWT and it is beautiful.
    • That's so funny, that's how I listen to Montecito - while walking my dog. I'll have to check out Forever & a Day.
    • I need to listen! Forever & a Day was a fun soapy podcast to have available when I walked the dog.
    • A few years ago, Devon and Nick started a charity organization together, I think it's for housing in the community.
    • I’m hoping to start getting to know Vernon better this month. He’s really only been a bunch of noble and good tropes so far. I don’t want him to be taken down the way Ted has been, but it seems he was a long-running Senator and no matter what party you are, lasting longer than twenty years means you’re looking out for you (and not who you’re supposed to be looking out for) most of all. I want to get to know both Vernon and Anita beyond their Dupree posturing. Clifton Davis can sleepwalk handling the kind of material Christopher Bernau and David Lewis handled and I’d like to see more than just a saint.
    • I thought Emily/Hal was a really interesting pairing. And I think KMH played that version of Emily very well! It might not have been what people wanted from Emily, and the writing got pretty gross at the end, but I thought she embodied that character effectively.
