^I agree YRBB, I still know people who claim Y&R hasn't been good since Bill Bell stepped down. In a way, I do agree, but Bell wasn't going to live forever.

He was right, her solo HW run was from 1999 to 2002. For most of 1998, she was listed as Bill Bell's co-head writer...

Also, if I remember correctly, it was reported that Bill Bell himself wasn't too thrilled with a lot of what Alden offered. Of course she's way better than anyone who came after her...

Kay was listed as co headwriter for many yearsat Y&R between 78-93 (not associate head writer but actual co)

BTW Sylph, I too am a bit bewildered where all this Kay Alden love is coming from. She was generally reviled on boards and by fans during her solo tenure, but then Latham came and was even worse. Kay had many faults, which many seem to ignore now that the show is in a much worse creative state.

I think it has to do with the fact that she is currently the best HW around and that Latham era sucks big time. And I do remember what fans wrote about her stint.

Are you sure the Chancellor mansion stuff was Ed Scott's idea? Kay Alden used Jill/Kay nonstop, so I assumed all their stuff would be her idea. The sperm story was at least interesting, although a bit crazy. I'll take that over a boring Reliquary.

Kay and Ed had a horrible working relationship once Bill Bell stepped down, the executives at Sony sided with Kay and Ed was let go in December of 2000.

The sperm crapfest was definitely Kay's move though, it's well known she had a big hard-on for Eric Braeden...
