Email Testimonials

Amy Handelsman is one of those people who seem to have a knowledge base that never ends. She's a bi-coastal producer, writer, executive, and dramaturge, who has developed feature films, network and cable movies and pilots, and plays.

Amy's strength lies in her familiarity with all dramatic and comedic forms, and her remarkable facility for assisting writers in adapting one medium to another. She recently served a 5-year-stint as Creative Director of the Showtime Development Project at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles, where she developed films from existing plays. She has continued on as producer on these projects.

Handelsman's experience at the Taper, as well as her work for HBO as a theater consultant for the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, will be of great benefit to playwrights. Her earlier career as a book agent at ICM in New York aids her in helping first-time authors. The knowledge she gained as an editor for Sports Illustrated and Fortune will serve journalists. Finally, her many years as a story analyst at Warner Bros and Paramount Pictues, and as an executive or producer at Disney, Tristar, PBS, ABC, CBS, Showtime, and HBO, have made her a great asset for screen and television writers.

A sometime-journalist herself, as well as a sports fan, Amy has written about boxing for such magazines as Playboy.
