He didn’t make any comments about Simone. The peanut gallery on Twitter twisted his statements. He was talking only about he deals with pressure, particularly this year as he was in pursuit of a Golden Slam.

Ok so he wasn't nasty about that but the dude is still a crybaby shown many times including at the recent Olympics.

I don’t recall that at the Olympics. You mean his comments about the heat? Novak is faaaaar from perfect, but I don’t think he deserves the ire for doing things tons of players do all the time (like smashing his racquet). It’s also very lucrative to pitch him as the devil in contrast to the stainless, “classy” Federer, the cash cow of the sport.

This has nothing to do with Federer who IMO is too perfect.  Novak had a meltdown after he lost the bronze metal match and threw his racket. He should stop giving advice to others on pressure.

I’m certainly not going to (or trying to) convince anyone to feel differently on Novak. He’s no victim. But I’ve seen Roger throw tantrums frequently throughout his career to crickets from pundits. I wish the chattering classes would be more honest.

U.S. men’s tennis has been so dire for the past 10-15 years, so we seem to get these articles every once in a while. They pinpoint the right players (Nakashima, Brooksby, Korda), I guess. At least those guys mostly break the mold of servebot-forehand-type of American ATP player we’ve seen get attention in recent years.

The drunk crowd is acting a whole-ass fool tonight on Ashe.

First time in the Open era that there are no American men or women in the quarterfinals at a Slam or just at the USO?

I am not a Federer fan. I never cared for Borg who was pretty much treated the same way by the press because he was a "gentleman" Borg had his moments too. Big difference is opponents like McEnroe never pretended to be sweetness and light like Djokovic does or wants to be.

These ladies’ matches are on too late, oy. Andreescu and Sakkari look like they might be in it for the long haul tonight.

That's why this tournament the best! These late night matches.  Joker is responsible for the lateness anyways... Lol

The match ended at 2:15am EST?! 😧  Crazy. You can’t start a match after 10pm.  Something has to be done about that.   Unfortunately, injuries is going to be part of Bianca’s career.  The talent is there but she just can’t stay healthy for a long time.

Yeah, no way I’m staying up that late on a school night.

I heard Sakkari was spectacular. Hopefully she brings it against Pliskova. I’m pretty cool with anyone left except Pliskova or Bencic holding a winner’s trophy on Saturday.
