Just finished watchting the 1st episode that SN aired at 4am CT/5am ET, and it's not to bad.....

Billy Dee Williams seems to be playing a janitor.....

There's a hilarious scene concerning Maxie and Coop.....

Jason is in jail on GH, but on GH:NS he's not.....

People are going to freak if the woman in the ambulance is who the show is hinting at........

The show is mediocore at best.. Alright for a first episode and I hope it improves. It was all over the place and that got a bit annoying. I guess they were trying to show how hectic it was at a hospital but I wish there was a bit more focus

Robin was such a jealous witch and I hated how she snapped at Leyla. At least she had the decency to apologize. Looks like it continues next week and I hope Patrick ends up with Lelyla, especially if Robin starts to rekindle her old feelings for Jason

I was surprised at how graphic that scene between Coop and Maxie was. I didnt think they'd go there. So Mac finally knows about them too. I didnt get what the big deal was bc she's 21, legal and able to do what she wants

Im glad the nurses got as much airtime as they did bc I thoughet they'd get the shaft. Regina parricularly was on a bit. LOL at her channeling Epiphany at the end.

HATED how much Epiphany was on. Way too much of that annoying hag. I cant beleive she told Dr. Ford that she doesnt tell doctors what to do; she just follows their direction. LIAR! She proceeded to do just that the entire episode.

I noticed that when Robin was talking to the pregnant patient, she told her that Kelly was in surgery. That seemed wrong bc she should have told her Dr. Lee was in surgery.

LOL..and do they really expect us to beleive Brenda is back? Not unless they've recasted. I wonder if Barrett will be connected to Coop, being as they have the same name

One thing I didnt like was the glaring continuity error. Jason is in jail on GH yet he was free as a bird on NS and now servign community service for shooting Spinelli. Is it really that important to have Jason? His inclusion seems VERY forced. They just have to have him around to play the overall good guy hero as if none of the other males could fit that role

First impression. Sort of a cross between GH at its worst and Grey's Anatomy at it's worst.

Anyone remember when we had a really great GH spinoff. It was about these interns? Or for that matter a great Medical show weekdays at three that used to be about a hospital and featured great writing and characters that were likable?

I'm watching now and I'm already bored. It's completely uninteresting and the writing is beyond stupid. I mean laughing gas causing an explosion? Um, ok...

This is definitely a huge flop for me, I expected so much more. A show like this had so much potential. However, this is just the first episode, but I don't know if it'll get better.

I don't think the show is boring. Quite frankly, Nightshift is what GH should be every day. Drama within the hospital, not bullshit about mobsters and their whores.

Yes the show is like ER, but hey....GH and I mean the OLD GH is what set the standard for medical stuff back in the day.

Nightshift has potential and I think they did a very good job w/ the episode. They are doing a good job of showing how crazy the ER can be, without being over the top.

I find this show to be rather entertaining. It is better than what we see on GH right now. At least I am not watching it to hear about Liz loves Jason, Jason loves Liz, Lulu and her men, Carly and her men problems.

They are finally getting back to the hospital, which is what GH used to be about. This is just the first episode and I see it having great potential over time. It has a better feel and a better flow between the characters/actors.

I pretty much agree with everything you said - actually all of it! lol

I did enjoy the RISQUE Coop/Maxie scene though - haha.

Oh and did y'all notice the pregnant woman was AMC's ex-Allie Doyle? That was cool seeing her again - it's been years for me.

Oh and that opening isn't that great - I loved the city skywalk in beginning/end - but the montage and music isn't too good.

Wish they didn't have the credits in alphabetical order either, although I know it's fair, but giving Spinelli top billing....eh.

I actually really liked it. It could use some improvement - Layla is a cardboard cutout, for example - but overall it's a fun summer show to get in to.

I will DIE if the burn victim turns out to be who they hinted! Also, how great was it when Regina finally did something right?

Right now I am going to wait till I see another episode.. As I was telling someone earlier, it's weird seeing certain characters in various situations on both shows:

From the previews for next week it looks like they are going to have Maxie in a possible triangle with Coop and the new doctor on there; while on GH, it's the whole Logan/Coop/Maxie/Lulu thing.

Then we have Jason in jail on GH but on probation as a janitor on NS.

It was good, but I want to at least see it again to see if they smooth things out some.

    • Has BTG been using flashbacks much? Of course, as a new show there aren't many f/b worthy moments but I think they can get by w/o having to use/recreate the Leslie reveal scene. What other 'soap' tropes have they employed or ignored so far? We've talked about the lack of traditional cliffhangers with lingering camera shots. They have done a couple of fantasy scenes. Has anyone apart from Dana had talk to themselves scenes? Montages?
    • Thank You!!! @rsclassicfanforever and to anyone else who contributed to the vaults over the years. I have dipped in/out and gotten my life watching Y&R early years. I never would had the appreciation for characters like Lorie Brooks if not for the Vaults, so again, Thanks.
    • Another lot of skipped episodes to look forward to when the time comes on Videoland. So annoying. They have skipped so many, especially in  season 15 where they skipped 19 episodes throughout the season. Is it just me or is the vault down? It's like a different error message this time so it's hard to know if it's me this time.
    • thank you for uploading the rest of season 12!!! I hope i can get them soon the links down! Thank you again for posting the B&B classic episodes to revisit!!!!
    • Hmm, okay.  BTW, my only problem with Kai & the surgery story is where is this guy's family? And, another BTW, I think I may have inadvertently added to that rumor from last year about a male descendant of Justus Ward. You see, that is an idea I could really get behind! Like I would pay to see those scenes. And, true, I did hear it ... [sheepish grin]

Yes they can. While rare, its not like soaps in the past havent said F that and used flashbacks of a scene even when a recast has been done. OLTL used to do that
    • Well, I am glad to know that & for it to make sense, so thanks for the info &  the perspective, also. At the end of AMC 1.0, I thought the new young talent was really quite good, but I missed Eden & NuBianca just ... well, I wasn't 100% sold on her & Bianca was so important to me. But then, Tad & Dixie were also important & yep, there's another problem, for me I mean. I'm not your typical AMC fan but I hung in there anyway. I know what you mean because it wasn't as good as it once had been but it was still Agnes's show in Pine Valley. Some of that is a bittersweet nostalgic clinging to the past, I guess. By that time I'd been through so many show cancellations. AW, Santa Barbara, PC, The City, GL, ATWT.

Betsy Snyder, when she was at DAYS was part of the WGA winning writing team before she died, tragically far too young.
    • Yep Edmund and Tad went under cover to infiltrate the... Willow Lake (I think?) old folks community scandal that was exploiting Phoebe, etc.  (Which at one point led to Edmund rescuing Brooke from quicksand--common around Pine Valley I guess

) EDIT maybe I'm wrong.  I found the quicksand scene

But for the story all I can find is Edmund going undercover as the gigolo "preying" on older women, Eduardo (no one would recognize him with that disguise and name ) so the drag must have been.. a different story?
    • But then he HATES the original Heather Webber (Cher's half sister played her, right?) and we know what happened when Robin would step into the role a year after this.  He does seem pretty spot on about actors who show promise otherwise.  It's interesting he knocks OLTL early on (though I loved all the recently released episodes from this era we got) but does give a lot of credit to the actress playing Cathy despite earlier complaining about her story.  And over all, while quite negative, his various pros and cons on the shows sounds about right with what I know of the shows at this time. This was a July dated issue of the magazine but and I know they date mags a month or two in advance--obviously when he wrote this he didn't know Lovers and Friends was gonna go off the air (in May I think).
