Wow, it really is going to be a four-way race soon for fourth place here pretty soon! Go Days!!! Actually, I can see AMC continuing to fall in the ratings. The show is really stale right now and not just because of Greenlee. Zendall is part of it too. They are dull, dull, dull, IMHO. I find it funny that some fans think Zendall has been the driving force for the ratings for AMC...so if that is the case...how come they aren't being blamed for the drop and it is all Greenlee's fault???????

I am glad Y&R is holding steady. I think that if they start to falter, then the rest of the soaps will begin to collapse even further.

So, let me get this straight. Days gets a 2.4 on Tuesday for a teen centric episode but 2.2's on Monday and Tuesday for the Bo/Hope and Doug/Julie stuff. Wow...and we wonder why Days uses the teens as much as they do. They look at dailies and see them getting the highest number of the week and they wrongly assume we want to see them. Ugh.

On a side note, the 2.1's at the end of the week were expected. In fact, that is pretty good with the preemptions. I am going to hope for a 2.3 or 2.4 for this week.

Good for ATWT and looks like a pretty ok week for soaps. This week will be interesting with the 1st week of summer and what looks like a tight race for 4th. I am interested in seeing what teens being out of school will do for the ratings. Days usually gets some bumps gradually over the next few weeks and then holds them into August. We'll see.

As for Y&R. I hope the downward trend continues. They deserve it and more.

Because Greenlee's been driving storyline since May 1. Everything is about Greenlee and reacting to her. I know she's the reason I've started watching DAYS. I watched my first full episode of DAYS in years last week, lol.

I won't say Z/K are the end all and be all of the show, they aren't. But when they're driving the story and it's that "romantic," buliding-on type of story - be it the coma or the serial killer - the ratings do not go under 2.5. And they typically go up from 2.3-2.4. That tells me they're one of the few thing that, IMO, that actually works for the show.

The Greenlee storyline (with Ryan/Annie/Zach/Kendall/The Kids) is the majority of the show and it has been quite obnoxious, redundant, etc... Then we have Erica/Jack, and that reality show - the storyline is obnoxious and also redundant. JR's been pretty much useless since he went to the dark side (the Carey's). I'd say Sean/Colby's stuff is fine, but it can't carry a show.

Congrats to DAYS. It's the older dudes that are bringing me back in, loved the D/J, B/H stuff I've seen.

GL is up again and expect the show to gain new viewers after the Emmy Awards show, it was a great promo tool for GL and the summer action packed storylines Dinah, Jonathan's comeback and the Josh Reva Cassie showdown are going to bring GL into the 2.3's once again...just watch!.

Rugrat i'm glad you are checking out Days...Bope have been so entertaining...They are the perfect example of how to write a happily married couple on a soap..I love them investigating together..I'm thinking Days will go up a few notches over the next few weeks...This has been a solid week for the show..

Sorry, but I don't buy that Zendall was responsible for these ratings at that time. Wasn't Ryan still involved heavily in the Kendall's life around the time of the coma and for the serial killer storyline? An argument could be made that it was the Ryan/Kendall/Zach dynamic that kept people interested. Bianca was on the show so an argument could be made that she was driving the ratings or holding them steady. Wasn't Babe featured heavily at the time too?? Wasn't there a lot of Babe/Josh? Didn't Janet come back around that time?? Wasn't the show teasing the audience about a possible Dixie return?? It could have been any number of these storylines that influenced the ratings so I don't believe that it was because of Zendall.

All I am saying if someone is going to make a claim that a certain pairing is driving the ratings then when the ratings go down that pairing has to share responsibility for the decrease also. If that pairing is so strong, then it shouldn't matter what kind of storyline they are in, the ratings should still be strong because they are so popular and the force that drives the show and the ratings. It bothers me when somebody says the ratings are this because such and such are together. Soaps don't work that way, IMHO.

    • I assume they did at some point during the finale...
    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
