Why did I keep having Celeste and EJ sex fantasies while the voodoo ritual was going on? Celeste was looking damn good and EJ wasn't looking too bad himself ;):P I could totally see the two of them going at it. Hot and rough monkey sex right in front of the couldren.

Totally not just you. My mind went ahead and finished this line:

Celeste: Take off your shirt.

With this:

EJ: Will that help us reach the spirits?

Celeste: No, that's just for me...

GREAT show today.

First off, the Philip/Belle/Shawn scenes were sweet. Everyone taking blame and responsibility. Finally some resolution and some motivation behind their actions. Realistic flaws for all 3 and now I see where all 3 were coming from. How ironic that just when they agree to do what is best for the child, they all may end up losing her. Good stuff. Death and danger can make you admit regrets and examine behavior. I thought Days did good with this. That scene where they all start singing "Amazing Grace" was sad.

Bo/Steve was intense. Good acting by PR and SN. Bo swearing on Zack's grave that he would give the statement up and then refusing to back on the island. Kayla showing up was a surprise. It took her a little too long to get there but damn MBE and SN had it rocking in that scene where she recited wedding vows to talk him down. Loved it and I love how this story is about their connection once again. I have a feeling we may be getting a break from Steve and Kayla as it seems they are going to stay on the island until he is better. We could use a break from them but, hopefully, it's not too long. I still like Bisco and she is even better interacting with others besides Shawn, Belle, etc. I thought she handled herself well today but Gabby is still pointless as a character.

It was nice to see Sami apologize and her and Will bonding. Loved the line Sami had about Kate's head being cut off in the photo. "It's the best she's ever looked." .

BD abd LK rocked today. Kate finally had a comeuppance IMO. She looked heartbroken but she needed to hear that. Loved the slap and her mentioning all she did for Lucas. The chord line was a good one and so true. I have been waiting for a face off like this for awhile. Kate needs to be knocked down alot because she is close to being unredeemable. She doesn't even buy that EJ raped Sami. She still deserves alot more then she is getting so I hope she gets it because Kate needs to lose everything for once. It will help take her character in new directions. LK did look great today. I just love Lucas sticking up for Sami. Breath of fresh air!

There was a weird, sexual vibe in the EJ/Celeste scenes. I thought they had a nice gothic feel to them and they weren't too over the top. It had creepiness to it and JS and TB played it well. I wonder if the test was true and EJ is the father. I have a feeling it was and that this was the trigger mentioned in SOD. In the May previews, it said Celeste was the trigger to the story so I think this test was it. The baby being EJ's will kick all this off it seems. I also like how EJ seemed bothered by having to throw his shirt in the fire  .

Another good episode. The rest of the week is looking good.

Yesterday and today were excellent for me. I feel the DiMera spirit coming, the suspense and excitement. Celeste really is the catalyst. When she appeared in the crypt garden, I knew the DiMera days were here, actually.

Phoenix, I agree with your accessment of the three young folks. It was poignant and when Belle started singing Amazing Grace, I surprised myself by bawling. Actually, I cried twice during todays show and quite surprisingly to me. Ordinarily Steve and Kayla irritate me, but today when Steve broke down and cried out as he fell and grabbed Kayla, omg, that was the most heartwrenching scene I've seen, the most heartfelt cry. wow. Great job.

I think Will is looking really good with his new haircut. His scenes were neat, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who cried over the "Amazing Grace" scene. I thought it was very, very poignant. It might be the first time I've felt anything during a Shawn/Belle/Phillip scene beyond mild interest.

I loved, loved, loved the Bo/Steve stuff. As crazy as he knows Steve is right now, Bo never wavered in his belief that Steve wouldn't be able to hurt him. He could see that Steve was struggling, both against his programming and to find something that would let him justify what the programming was telling him to do. He tried with the "you put out my eye" but Bo reminded him that they'd resolved that. And then Bo gave him nothing else. He didn't fight against him, he stuck his knife in the bar. If Steve was going to do it, he would have to kill an unarmed man who was refusing to even try to defend himself. And Bo was right that Steve couldn't do it. You could see the change happen on Steve's face right before Kayla walked up. It's why he caved so quickly when she got there.

Back to the butterfly knife Bo stuck in the bar... it has quite the history between them. It's the knife he used to put Steve's eye out. Steve carried it for several years after that -- he pulled it on Bo more than once, and he had it in the 1986 Stockholm storyline. Bo got it back after that. But the knife had seen a lot of action between the two men. It was fitting and kind of full circle to see Bo stab it into the bar.

    • Thanks for the well-detailed reply. I'm fairly early in my viewing, so I have some time before it goes nuts. Thanks a lot! @kalbir and @DRW50 thank you so much. I am just approaching 100 episodes, so I'm good for now.
    • The Duprees as the main family isn't the problem, but the fact is that over 3/4 of the cast are Duprees.. so it limits coupling potential and also keeps the canvas too closed in. Too many female Duprees and no hetero, nor gay, male Duprees is also a problem.   I also agree with @DemetriKanethat the male characters are one note, and not very layered/interesting... outside of Bill, that is. To me, I would have focused on either Nicole's family and dynamics or Dani's family and dynamics instead of trying to introduce/develop both families at the same time.  Nicole's family is more developed and interesting with loads of storyline possiblities then Dani's family right now. And because MVJ and co decided to feature so many Duprees... we're less likely to be free of any outside characters like Ashley/Derek since they're the non-Dupree part of the canvas.
    • BTG: A B&B: B DAYS: B+ GH: A- Y&R: C-
    • I can not see Kat as a police officer and do not want that for her. Thats not her passion nor does she care about that stuff. The stuff with Eva and Leslie is specific to her life and wanting to protect her family. Her "detective" skills have more to do with her business background, which makes her very analytical and pay close attention to details. If this show had a corporation, she'd make a shrewed businesswoman and CEO I definitely dont want to see her sleep with her cousin's husband. That would be too much of a Hayley redux which ironically you dont want with the Sharon/Hayley theory
    • I would make Jan, Ashley's mom, Anita and Vernon's maid. It would lock in to why Leslie would choose to befriend both her and Mona. It also gives Ashley a connection to the Duprees and explains how she befriended Naomi. I would have had Derek start the show as a cop to explain his connection to Jacob. Kat needs to realize that she is MADE to be a detective. Have her go through police training, making the appropriate comments about the uniform along the way. Have her prove she is so much more than a rich princess, even to herself. Then, when Jacob's partner is proven to be dirty, Kat is assigned as Jacob's rookie trainee. At the same time, Naomi does finally get a case she can follow through on. Her client is a person that Jacob arrested. This puts them at odds because Jacob knows this person did it, as does Kat, but Naomi only sees the extenuating circumstances and believes he deserves a lighter sentence and a second chance. THAT is when Jacob will turn to Kat in frustration and she will lose her virginity to him.
    • This opened my eyes and appeals to my logic. But, don't you also think that the fact that they are so ill-suited means that, by soap-opera-laws, they aren't a long term item?  I like how Belle is written now, so I appreciate the fact that she is in this story.  But, I don't believe anything will become of it, and I think EJ is going to mess it up very soon.  Which explains why I don't get too worked up over it. I'm also suspending my outrage until I see how EJ treats Belle during her mourning.  If he cheats with Cat, then we'll know that he was never meant to be happy.
    • Kristen also raped John post-Paris with a Magic Mirror.  Her pregnancy was "delicate" and they couldn't be intimate.  She had already lost the baby, needed to get pregnant immediately again and set a Stefano tricked out Magic Mirror to hypnotize John and John thought he was  having sex with Marlena.  John woke up the next day and thought it was a dream.
    • The show is only a few months in and still finding it's footing. I'm hoping MVJ has years of story in place for these characters and will pretty much stick to that plan (obviously with tweaking along the way) I do have some issues with the initial structure. Making the Duprees the centerpiece and not having a male with that name. Making Martin Vernon and Anita's would have solved that and made the age of the character more appropriate. I agree about not having a young couple in the beginnings of a romance. And having too many married couples. Jacob and Naomi could be just living together. That makes the possibility of other relationships more viable than within a marriage. Same with Smitty/Martin. Having them married with kids limits the story especially in terms of them as a gay couple.  The white characters existing in another universe is also a problem. That ties in with the workplace/job issues. I don't think they needed the hospital-instead the police station/real estate office or Martin's workplace could have utilized and have Derek/Ashley/Vanessa/Smitty/Shanice etc working and interacting there. ATM too many characters are meeting up in cafes etc-we're not seeing them at work. We needed to see more of how various characters interact eg Jacob/Bill, Ted/Bill. There were a lot of extended family scenes but there should be more one on one to get a sense of character and family dynamics. Leslie is a great character but her bag of tricks is getting over exposed. I would hate that she is kept on and other character's made to look like idiots by accepting her presence. They'll need some good writing and twists to keep her around. We can only hope some of the lesser actors improve as I don't want too many recasts or writeouts. So it's early days and I look forward to seeing the show evolve. And give the Duprees some staff!
    • Thanks. I barely remember any of the backstory there, just his ties to her parents. It was all so convoluted, everything with Tangie.
    • 81 and 82 were rather bad, with the infamous invasion of the Kirkland family. But sometime in late 82 or early 83, Claire Labine was rehired as head-writer and immediately put the focus back on the Ryan's. This time Labine's tenure was short, but she did great work. The entire show was compelling again -- especially the Charlotte Greer storyline (one of the best plots of the entire series).  But Labine was fired, yet again, and Ryan's Bar was bombed, resulting in most of the action being transferred to Greenberg's Deli, and a focus on younger characters with little connection to the Ryan family. So that is what you are probably seeing from 84.
