DAYS: New Orleans - RUMOR

When was Rion making it seem like you were wrong? He was just saying that he thought Melaswen was a great storyline. Everyone jumped his bones. At least that's what I'm reading.

I still have tapes of that crap that I pull out when I need a good laugh. However, I must confess, sometimes it depresses me more then making me laugh since it's so bad. That was Days at it's worst IMO.

Actually, I can't say that.

"Garden of Eden" was the worst. Following that is Melaswen, then Tropical Temptation.

Here's a montage of the Melaswen story, though. Just incase y'all need, y'know... a refresher. :)

The Salem Stalker story was fine it's first 6 months and then it all went downhill once Marlena is revealed.

Also, Rion, don't state that it;s a great story and make it sound like we are the minority. If you liked it, fine. But don't make it come off like you are right and we are wrong. We clearly have dissenting opinions on this but one fact is that the stories don't even compare to those 80's stories. Melaswen should've been like that but it wasn't even close. It was like a bad comic book movie adventure that lasted months. It gave us cartoonish Tony with his remarkable weather machine that controlled the weather and a volcano that was built under a island. Wow...yeah. It's one thing to be original but to be that outlandish and to expect the audience to swallow it...come on. Let's be real.

Well, I can take your argument and turn it back on you. It's only your opinion that Melaswen wasn't good and that the 80s stories I listed were great. These aren't facts. It's a matter of taste.

Anyway...let's just move on, clearly neither of us is going to sway the other to our side.

I agree. That's why I adore the Stalker story but only sorta like the Melaswen thing...clearly Marlena, Roman, Jack, Victor, Caroline, and Cassie were meant to stay dead, or else JER wouldn't have had put them in the castle and backburnered them for months. The outcome of the Stalker storyline was clearly interfered with by Corday, but at the same time I think the island thing was always intended as an "out". Corday forced JER to take this "out" even though it impeded on the original story JER had wanted to tell.

You're damnnnn right. :)

*sighs* You think a self-destructing island and a force field was unrealistic on a show where the main character was POSSESSED BY SATAN?

It is known that people can be possessed. I am a Catholic and I was told this. When is the last time you saw an island with force fields that self-destructs? I haven't heard anyone say anything about something like that.

I think we all know the SSK story was meant to end differently but this is the type od story JER excels at. He did it with Maison Blanche, Aremid, etc. He always handled umbrella stories well on both Days and Passions and this was like what happens when you drink too much and are watching some Sci-Fi channel movie and you end up with hallucinations or dreams or something. I mean, I tolerate alot but this was plain bad.

Drew is right though...you stick to those guns Rion. It can't be easy.

Agreed, Kenny.

People jump on JER because he's Days' most popular head writer, but it's Tom Langan who truly butchered the show and wrote some god-awful stories. I mean, whatthefuckwasup with Rebel Brady, and the Brady/Marlena feud? That was pure drivel! Marlena was jealous of Isabella, and suddenly the "cure" to their feud was Marlena allowing Brady to put up a picture of Isabella? Come on!

And JER didn't force the teens or newbies down our throats like Langan did..Langan's tenure might have been titled "Chloes of Our Lives".

It's not just my opinion. It's the opinion of the masses . I have no problem with you liking it. I just have a problem with you making it out to be something it's not. That's all.

Damn, Kenny. Why did you have to post that? .

Anyways, this all started because you claimed Hogan was ripping off Hogan so why don't we get back to that or back to the topic of this thread.

I like that though, Rion.

Fight for your opinions. Doens't make them wrong at all.

We'll just have to agree to disagree. :D

Rion, I so enjoy this side of you. Sticking to your own opinions, but doing so in a respectful way, even when everyone's pitted against you.

How is he making it out to be something it's not. It's his opinion. He liked the storyline, and not matter how many people didn't like it or disagree with him, why should he be ridiculed for what he liked? It's not fair.

Thank God I can have a peaceful debate!

And I didn't mean anything rude by PR, but I just can't see how you can defend the possession storyline as "realistic" when this is also the same show where Vivian was implanted with a mood-altering microchip in her tooth, and where Hope was transformed into another woman because of a lunar eclipse...

Following the logic of those stories, a force-field and a self-destructing island seem just about right to me.

I think it's safe to say DAYS threw out realism in the 80s. It's never been brought back. No use.

LoL, my favorite part is when we see Bo, Hope, Patrick, etc. with their backs turned towards us, facing the giant television screen suspended high in the air while a very fake looking blue screen makes it look as if there's a window with sharks, etc. swimming by the underground lair. Lame as hell!
