MTV reuniting 'Real World Vegas'

April 11, 2007

MTV and Bunim-Murray Prods. are reuniting a "Real World" cast to document what happens when they live together again in their former home.

The cable network and producers Bunim-Murray Prods. said Tuesday that they're going into production this month on their first-ever reunion series for the "Real World" franchise.

"Reunited: The Real World" will reunite the original cast of "The Real World: Las Vegas" in their former home -- the "Real World" suite at the Palms Casino Resort -- to see what has happened in the five years since the seven cast members lived together and to document what happens when they reunite.

The show is set to premiere on MTV later this spring. "Real World" was created by Jon Murray and Mary Ellis-Bunim. Jim Johnston also is executive producer, and Ken Chien is the supervising producer of "Reunited." Drew Tappon and Jacquelyn French are executives in charge of production for MTV.

Why did they have to pick Las Vegas? I can't stand most of that cast.

They should have picked an earlier season, although I'm sure they probably couldn't get an entire cast together....

I believe The Real World Las Vegas was their highest rated season ever, hence why they're doing this crap.

MTV seriously needs to cancel this show, it's beyond played out.

I read MTV opted for the reunion of this cast, as they did a marthon of the Vegas season a few months ago, and they were surprised by the high ratings that it received.

Yes, Vegas was their highest rated season ever. It wasn't my favorite season, that's for sure, but I did watch. It wasn't horrible, just lots and lots of sex. It's going to be interesting to see the cast again, five years later, see how they interact with each other in the suite.

As for The Real World being played out, I don't agree. I feel that it has become nothing but an eye candy show, something that it definitely wasn't in the first probably 9 seasons. And I hear they're tying to get back to that, what the concept was in the beginning. According to the casting call for the 20th season, producers want roomates that have goals and want to accomplish those goals in a metropolitan city, so I think they're done letting the cast live the easy life and they're going to push for them to go out and do stuff like they did in the first season.

I heard that they wanted the Austin cast to get back together. That probably would've been more interesting. As I remember, the reunion show was pretty heated.

Anyway, I'll definitely check this new concept out. I really didn't mind Vegas.

The Real World is trying to get away from just the "eye candy" and "let's throw pretty people in a house and see what happens."

MTV is very committed to the show and with so much fluff on MTV now, The Real World producers are gonna have to go back to what made The Real World special and different. I think the future seasons will work out well.

I think RW sucks and as stated is played out. I tried watching this season but couldnt after the first 3 weeks and have barely been able to watch in recent years despite trying to force myself to do so. I wish they'd just cancel the show

And on a related note, anyone watching this season of RR? I saw the first episode and then the 2nd online and that was it. I hate the new format and they messed the show up. Who's bright idea was to put it on at 9pm on Tuesday? That killed it for me and I refused to watch after that. I see they fixxed it by moving it but its too late now.

Aww, I like the throwing of the pretty people into houses to watch them go ape-[!@#$%^&*] format. Since Canada's only had a widely accessible MTV outlet for the last year (minus a canadian MTV and MTV2 that were briefly available on premium cable tiers before vanishing), it's all we've gotten to see of TRW.

If the Real World producers did go back to casting every day young adults, with goals and personalities beyond booze and sex, I'll definitely watch again. I don't know why they can't get folks in the 22-26 range, or at least a little more mature.

And wow, a reunion of the Vegas cast, huh? I might just watch ... I actually didn't mind the season. It was such a trainwreck to watch I loved it, although it wouldn't of been my first choice for a reunion series. I'm also probably one of the few who liked Steven (he actually made me like him even more in the short-lived E! series Kill Reality).

The Real World has turned into such fluff, and I used to be one of the show's biggest fans.

"Las Vegas" was the beginning of the end for the show. That's the season when the show really took a nosedive. Yes, people watched... because it was all about sluttery and drinking. Free porno! But it wasn't good. It wasn't quality.

I'd LOVE to see the New Orleans cast reunited... that was the ultimate!

this actually wont be a season of Real World. The next season is currently being filmed in Asutralia and the 20th season (gawd, I feel old) is being cast. The tentative title of this season is Reunited: The Real World Las Vegas and will be a spinoff miniseries that will be taped for 3 weeks and will air for 6 episodes. This is the first and if successful more will appear. FYI, The Las Vegas crew wasnt the first one considered for this. The producers wanted the RW Austin cast but negotiaions fell through on that

Ugh, the Austin group were even more insipid.

I think it would be great to see the original NY, San Fran, LA or Miami cast spend a week or two back together in their old house.

I heard about this! I hated this cast, but it could be interesting. This season had tons of drama.

I would have rathered Boston or Miami!
