I disagree. REG and TSJ create so much buzz for this show. IMO, they carried the show last year. IF OLTL can offer DavidFumero a fat contract when all of his s/l have failed miserably, then they can off REG and TSJ who is the draw for this show the moon and the stars. I can think of about 3 more ABC actors the powers have wasted money and time on and they have produced NOTHING for the network. REG is the second year in a row ONLY current Emmy Nominated actor from the show. She deserves to be rewarded with a contract to her liking.

REG might deserve the Stars, but she deserves the moon. SHe has 3 fan bases and Evangeline is one of the most popular characters on the show. REG made ME hot again after being damage greatly when he first came to OLTL from PC. Jolie was a dud, but REG and ME made JoVan a hit and hot. REG made DF decent. SHe is not a miracle worker. But, Evangeline did make the ever so boring and stupid Cristian watchable. Now, with Todd and TSJ,REG has succeeded in bringing raw and real chemistry to the screen with yet another acting partner. How many actresses on OLTL can claim success in every pairing she has been in? Only one IMO. REG deserves the moon and a contract worthy of her talents.

BTW, I agree. TSJ is more deserving that ME. When John came back in Nov. THe show tanked during Nov sweeps even with a ME return. He is not the draw any more, it is TSJ.

I never understood the appeal of Evangeline. She's written as too much of a damn martyr and is wholly one-dimensional. Her relationship with Cris was laughable. If she goes I won't bat an eyelash. I hope she takes Cristian with her.

You need to get over Roger Howarth ok! Todd as played by Trevor St. John is no more a "candyass" (btw I find that term offensive and kind of bigoted as well). I liked Roger Howarth and I like Trevor St. John. If Trevor leaves, I hope Roger Howarth returns. But if I had my choice, I'd pick Trevor over Howarth.

It seems that the only time you post on SON is to attack Trevor St. John and post love for Roger Howarth. Kinda reminds me of that old poster who really, really, really loved ATWT's Tom Hughes.

Exclusive Q&A: Renée Elise Goldsberry Leaves One Life to Live

Don't you just hate when great news is followed by bad news? Last month, the fabulous Renée Elise Goldsberry was Daytime Emmy nominated once again for outstanding supporting actress. A short while later, word got out that her One Life to Live contract won't be renewed. Lady lawyer Evangeline Williamson will soon leave the Llanview canvas by slipping into a coma! Sound familiar? Goldsberry granted her first, exclusive exit interview to TVGuide.com via e-mail. Here's what she has to say....

TVGuide.com: Congrats on the Daytime Emmy nomination. Were you surprised?

Renée Elise Goldsberry: Thank you for asking about the nomination. The second nomination! In a row! That announcement made me happier than you can imagine. I literally did the happy dance for about an hour when I found out.

TVGuide.com: How is it to be up against such formidable competition in your category, including daytime icon Genie Francis?

Goldsberry: To me, the nomination is about being recognized by your peers. I don't spend any time thinking about beating out any other nominee. I feel more connected to them than competitive. We've been honored together in an amazing way.

TVGuide.com: Which OLTL material have you submitted for Emmy consideration?

Goldsberry: I submitted Evangeline's lowest and happiest moments — the episode when she lost love (finding out that John was dead), and the episode when she found new love (the evening Christian and Evangeline agree to make love for the first time.) I am very proud of both of these episodes. I think they are just beautiful.

TVGuide.com: What do want to say about leaving OLTL?

Goldsberry: Yes, my contract expired on April 1. I have finished taping. I don't know when my last air date is, but I did work until the contract expired. And since we have not been able to come to terms on a new contract, Evangeline will go into a coma. And out of all that has been reported about this negotiation, that is the extent of what is true.

TVGuide.com: I've read a lot out there about why the contract negotiations fell through. Some suggest you want too much money, while others say OLTL denied you outs to do other projects. What's your response?

Goldsberry: It is hurtful when I hear of people reporting so erroneously about the negotiation. But I don't believe in discussing the details of contract negotiations publicly, even to prove them wrong, so I won't comment about that any further. I will say, however, that though we are at an impasse, there is no bad blood between ABC and me.

TVGuide.com: How interesting that Vangie will be comatose. Vangie's pal, Nora, also went into a coma when Hillary B. Smith's contract was up back in '05....

Goldsberry: Yes, Nora and Evangeline have a lot in common. They are both defense attorneys turned prosecutors. They were both blind. And Nora also suffered a coma that took her off of the canvas for quite some time. Hillary has often jokingly said that Evangeline is a big copycat. It seems she's right again.

TVGuide.com: How do you feel about leaving Llanview in this way?

Goldsberry: It is difficult to let a character that is so much a part of me just fall asleep. I'm sure it is difficult for all parties. It's been an awesome four years. I celebrate every day I had playing Evangeline. We created this groundbreaking character. And by "we" I mean everyone involved with her — the network, the writers, producers, directors, co-stars, and the fans. The opportunities she ran away with in Llanview and all of the opportunities that I've had at ABC are nothing short of miraculous. I believe they were truly divinely orchestrated. That's why I am confident that if it is meant to be, I will play Evangeline again — and if not, I will do something else that is also important, and the show that I have loved since I was a child will continue to be as wonderful as it has always been. I believe — even in the darkest hour — things really do work out for the best.

TVGuide.com: So what's next for you, Renée? Film work? A real, honest-to-goodness vacation?

Goldsberry: In the short term, my husband [attorney Alexis Johnson] gets a housewife for the first time in our marriage. (I wish I could say that dinner is always ready when he gets home, but it's only been a week. I'm not that good at this yet.) Long term, the sky is the limit. It's hard to say exactly what is next because God is surprising, and He always thinks bigger than I do. But what I ask for is peace about whatever comes. And I get a fresh dose everyday.

Looks like she's gone. I feel that if REG wants to try other things she should. I've watched this show almost from day one and have seen many talented actors come and go. You got to strike while the iron is hot and I think she'll do well with whatever she does!

If Trevor leaves then the show will go on as it has for over 38 years.

I diagree that Todd and Evangeline carried this show last year.

Evangeline was never anything but a more "holier than thou" version of Nora.

Sorry but it is about longeivity. So it's not okay for them to give Michael Easton everything under the sun, but it's allright for them to do that with TSJ and REG? Oooooooookay

I wouldn't be doing the happy dance just yet. Just like Nora woke up out of a coma, so could Evangeline if a deal is made. I have no problem with people not liking Evangeline, todd, or even TSJ and REG as actors. but, it is their right to earn the best living they can for their families and Just like any job, you will ask for a raise, ask for perks, in other words, you know your worth to a company.

REG and TSJ are true class acts, IMO and if they leave, I will miss them and I will say my goodbyes to OLTL also. No other characters besides John interest me on this show. REG and TSJ is the only reason I watch. They are truly gifted performers. I like ME, but I can do without seeing him.

Vincent Irizarry throws in quick a mention that he was dating Catherine Hickland when he first heard about Marj.  I wonder when this was.. She was married to David Hasselhoff for a good bit of the 80's. And then MEK for most of the 90's. Fun fact... David Hasselhoff played Michael Knight on Knight Rider. Then she married an actor named the same as her first husband's character.

    • I agree with a lot of what has been mentioned before me. I think BTG desperately needs another family.  Character ages still throw me. There have been several times where I still think Martin is Vernon and Anita's child and then a character says something and I'm like oh right. It doesn't help that he hardly socializes with his parents or Kat. I do not care about the secondary characters... Ashley, Derek, Vanessa, Doug, Pamela, Joey, Jan, Mona, the gym dude can all go and I wouldn't care. The exception being Shanice. There is a decent hospital set and police station set but most characters have other jobs. They could have easily had characters interact at work and make it seem organic. Instead they had Derek showing up at someone's work let alone a police officer to talk about his quarrel with Ashley. Also, falling into the trap of having stories that soaps no longer have the budget for. That fashion show was tragic and so was the award gala. The potential trial between Naomi and Bill being dropped was probably due to lack of a courtroom set. However, how soapy would it have been if Bill had a heart attack at the trial and Naomi feeling guilty. It would have also been a way to easily redeem the character of Bill to Naomi but also Dani and Chelsea who would face what losing him would ultimately mean.
    • Not too upset with Martin and Bradley being married. It's a first for daytime, so I love that BTG came out of the gate breaking barriers. I hope that the show plays on their past in the most soapiest ways. This doesn't have to be Martin's first marriage. What if Bradley's parents were some real grifters or con artists? Does he have siblings?      I agree with/ @Cheap21    Kat gives me a smart businesswoman.  With everything she is currently dealing with I can see her becoming a shark in the boardroom. So I'm looking forward to that business storyline.
    • That's what happened with Hope Williams Brady on DAYS.  Started as rich princess, went to the police academy.   Became a cop.  Now consults for the I.S.A.
    • I know Curlee/Demorest tried to give Roger a conscience in regard to raping Holly, and Zas is magnificent in those scenes with Alex. But he kinda ends up blaming Adam and the fact he (well, really the writers) ignores raping Rita and being responsible for her and Ed's child's death make it less than convincing.  I do think during 89-93 they were careful to not whitewash his past with Holly, but his occasional bouts of conscience always seemed to be overridden by his obsession/lust for her. The only purely good thing I can ever recall him doing is helping Maureen during the blackout, and even then, had she lived, he would've found a way to call that favor in. I've kinda resisted saying it, but it's kind of clear to me Long was determined to have her own version of Erica Kane, and God help us all, it ended up as Reva Shayne. Although at least Kim could act. (Sorry LaLucci fans) Honestly, I'm not even sure CBS soaps ever a character as larger than life as Reva.
    • Regardless, I'd still like to see more episodes from the 80s...there is very little of Charlotte Greer, Kirklands and Greenberg's out there sadly.
    • A black family having a white maid would be a good subversion of stereotypes. Also want to say that while the overall show has many flaws, the biggest one that's legitimately stifling is the lack of a rival family.
    • I also do not like the bits I've seen with Delia during Labine's 83 return. I am glad when she came back for the last time in 1986, she allowed Delia to move on from Frank.
    • Thanks for the well-detailed reply. I'm fairly early in my viewing, so I have some time before it goes nuts. Thanks a lot! @kalbir and @DRW50 thank you so much. I am just approaching 100 episodes, so I'm good for now.
