I am sure the holiday helped some because all of the soaps (well most) had their best day on Monday, but Y&R had the best. I think the holiday and the fact that Carmen's killer was revealed that day.

I am really surprised that GL did not go up that day. They had the big Friday cliffhanger with Alan being shot but no one seemed to care. And it was so well done too.

I am so happy for GH!!! They so deserve this!

I am not surprised at all by all these drops in the ratings.. last few weeks were actually okay for most soaps, so I excpected a drop..

But is that 4,8 for YR correct? Because if it is, they lost like 900 000 viewers from monday to friday... :o

Hopefully, next week is better for soaps!

Yes it's correct. Whenever a soap has a unusually high number for a day I make sure to triple check before I post.

I'm really surprised that DOOL isn't doing better. What happened? When Hogan took over I really thought they would be a ratings contender but it seems as of late the numbers are dropping. I don't watch the show but maybe someone can explain. Are the storyline dragging? Are they featuring characters no one likes?

Presidents Day helped all of the soaps at least salvage most of their numbers. That helped Y&R big time because I don't see that day getting that number if not for the holiday.

Good for GH but B&B did help them out by dropping -3. I can't get all jumpy over that when it took a major B&B drop for GH to get it. GH dropped too and I think it may also drop this week. The Q stuff may get good ratings but the rest of the show has been slowly sinking back to the crap I don't want to see. AMC has fallen back to earth and next week will be even worse. The balance on all soaps sucks right now. I count GH too because they only balanced things for one month. If Alan wasn't dying, they wouldn't have even did that. They still did a horrible disservice by nothing Robert and Anna even make minmal appearances during the month.

The only ABC soap that I can root for is OLTL. I have watched it alot these past few weeks and it is better and their balance is improving steadily.

That 2.1 on Days is alarming. That was a very good episode. If anything, I thought Thursday would get a low number. As I said before, Days can't have 3-4 days where things happen and another 1-2 days where they don't. That is why I am hoping the rest of this week is good because yesterday's show was slow as hell. At least Days is tied for 6th, not that that's consolation.

A bad week for all soaps but it was expected and, sadly, next week will be even worse. We will probably see all soaps back to their normal numbers in the next two weeks.

Is the last week of sweeps always bad? Days was shocking. I didn't think it was as bad as the ratings even though I think overall it's really bad. Wretched that B&B is sinking and they have Eileen Davidson and Days could sure get a boost if she were back.

I'm so confused. Days has 13 writers that, as far as I can tell, it's their job to write good stories. They do this full time. There is no reason any show should be lagging or boring for weeks at a time with so many resources pumped into making a good product.

What do they do all day?

Last week was a bad week for all soaps. Congrats for GH making it to #2. Let's hope they can keep it up.

As far as DAYS goes, I attribute their drop to the fact that they aren't showcasing the characters fans want to see. Even though I like the people I'm seeing now, I miss my Hope/Bo, John/Marlena and others. I understand the need to tell other stories...but get with the program damn it!

They'll bounce back. They always do. The show isn't bad, not by a longshot. They just need to fire off on all cylinders.

Wow none of that sounds good at all. And Days still at #3 in the 18-34 and #6 in 18-49 for another week is not good either.

As Errol said last week this is just giving more credence for NBC if they decide to get rid of Days early and these demos are not going to make Days look appealing to another network even if Days does get a lot of coverage in magazines.

Hogan & Corday have got to get on the ball and quick. They can't wait anymore.

Well I don't know if Eileen will matter that much to B&B's ratings but these ratings still don't reflect here. Most fans don't even know she is coming. Right now I don't even remember her being mentioned on the show at all. So we will just have to see in a few weeks if her coming impacts B&B's ratings or not.

Right now B&B jsut needs to get their stories together. The show is still good but another almost incestuous relationship is not what they needed.

I still think that B&B's fall was more due to Y&R's fall as it's leadin. B&B is greatly helped by Y&R and I think GH would have beaten it last week if Y&R had not risen so much. B&B was good the previous week but GH was better.

    • Of the so-called "contract" cast members, I'd venture to say these are recurring: Bryton James, Camryn Grimes, and (possibly) Michael Graziadei.  I've suspected since 2018 that Kate Linder and Christian LeBlanc are recurring.  And I believe we all know Miss Ordway is, because she said so. lol.
    • Dante blaming Gio instead of his dweeb son and the other dweeb was just ridiculous. Gio's paternity story is going in circles with no reveal. I've already started fast forwarding Drew and his stupid ho Willow's story. Kristina's story is beyond dumb with no great payoff.
    • Sarah (with the English accent) isn't just some random character.  Sarah was once the housekeeper for Eliot Dorn and Margo Huntington.  One of the following 2 scenarios happened a few months ago: (1):  One night, while Margo wasn't at home, and while Oscar the Doorman wasn't at his post, a burglar sneaked into the private elevator, rode up to the penthouse, stole several thousand dollars worth of Margo's valuable diamonds and pearls, and tied-up Eliot Dorn and Sarah the Housekeeper, ensuring that Eliot and Sarah couldn't pursue the burglar back down to the lobby or phone the police to apprehend the burglar. OR --  (2): Eliot Dorn was SLEEPING with Sarah the Housekeeper, and the two of them conspired to steal Margo's jewelry and went on a lavish spending spree and then tied THEMSELVES up to make it look as though a burglary had occurred in the penthouse. Margo Dorn currently believes Scenario #1 occurred, and she's rather annoyed that the "incompetent police" haven't located her stolen jewels yet.  Eliot and Sarah know that Scenario #2 actually occurred.  When Sarah stopped by the Unicorn and saw Eliot kissing Raven Swift, Sarah snidely said, "Oh! This must be Mrs. Dorn!  Nice to meet you, Mrs. Dorn!" Sarah knew good & damn well Raven isn't "Mrs. Dorn" because Sarah worked for Margo Dorn on a daily basis for many months.  That was Sarah's not-so-subtle way of announcing, "I'll be paying a visit to District Attorney Logan Swift and letting him know that his wife is sleeping with you, and I'll be paying a visit to WMON to let Margo Huntington know that you're sleeping with Mrs. Swift!"  lol.
    • The AMC hate came from Jamey Giddens/DC and their industry friends, IMO. For whatever reason I always felt they targeted the show, and it was wrong. AMC ratings were decent and even went up under Pratt (Yet, he was fired). The ratings were also good under Broderick and lowered out after her interim.  There was no reason to be upset with the show other than it being slow. They literally played it safe and did the best they could in 2010 and 2011.
    • I have very detailed synopses of all 1976 storylines for the soaps from the Daytime Serial Newsletter. Please let me know if you are interested in a particular show and I will post it in the appropriate thread. As I stated they are very detailed, so I don't want to clutter up threads if posters are not interested.

    • Surely we (and Billy Flynn) are not going to be saddled with a character named Aristotle Dumas? This isn't 1970's Edge of Night.
    • What annoys me a little bit about the "day players" is they sound a bit too "Brooklyn-ish" sometimes.  Obviously, the show was taped in New York City, and the actors are all New York actors, but Monticello is supposed to be located in Illinois or Ohio.  Occasionally, they grab actors and actresses for small roles who have VERY distinct New York accents, which contrasts sharply with the main cast, none of whom have noticeable accents (except for our dashing European gigolo, Eliot Dorn, of course).  The heavy Brooklyn accent works fine if the character is a bookie, or the owner of a pawn shop, or a guy who's selling stolen guns on the street corner.  But when it's a steadily recurring character -- such as the first Mrs. Goodman, who worked for Miles and Nicole -- it's pretty jarring to me sometimes.  And you'll see it often -- such as an "under-five" character who witnesses a car accident, or a character who witnesses a shooting, or the occasional desk clerk, or waiter.
