OLTL Discussion: Week of January 29th

I agree with you Jess. My dislike is more for the character than the actress. I certainly don't think Christine Chambers is as bad as a lot of people on here seem to think. On some of the other boards, people are speculating as to how she will pull off her scenes with KDP on Monday, and I just don't know. Sure will be fun to watch, though.

OLTL has really been kicking it in on all corners since January. I applaud them for taking this effort. I hated Spencer all along but Paul S. has been really good to watch and has made this climax awesome. I have also grown on Marty... A LOT.

The big surprise for me is tolerating John!! I have enjoyed the John/Nat split and even John and Marty. Go OLTL!!

I'm looking forward to Monday too. As far as Christine Chambers, I don't think she is bad. I do, however, think they are making the newbie mistake with her. OLTL tends to cram newbies down people's throats until it just chokes em. Christine Chambers is getting more than her fair share of screen time and that stirs criticism.

There seems to be a healthy pace with Talia. When Layla first came aboard they overdosed us on her, and then she disappears. It seems that if Antonio doesn't have chemistry with a woman the moment they meet then boom, that woman is on the backburner. That's the case except for Jess. That boring couple has been together since before the ice age.

I like that they are taking it slow with Talia, I like her so far. Couldn't stand Layla when she first came on but now that they toned her down, I like her as well. But, unfortunely I'll never care for Christina Chambers, she just doesn't play Marty well, would rather of had SH back or no Marty at all.

Did anyone else do a WTF when Antonio told Talia that one lie is a deal breaker for him?? I wonder if he ever told Jessica that one lie and he's out the door? Talk about a lack of committment. I can see leaving if someone cheats on you, but how many marriages would survive if one lie was the deal breaker?

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
