American Idol: Discussion Thread

I went to American Idol website to see what next week's theme is and it's made for LaKisha.......inspirational week. There are a lot of songs for her to sing including Wind Beneath My Wings, The Power of One, The Impossible Dream, I Believe I Can Fly, etc.

All three of the divas should do great as I believe that Melinda says this is her favorite genre, too. I hope Jordin can get the emotion going mature enough to sell hers.

This should be the girls week, but it's down Phil's alley, too.

I'm excited already.

That is what I thought, too, but Phil has been endorsed by the Christian Music Association and who knows how much that will raise him. He was very, very good Tuesday, too. I think Chris got sympathy votes this week and most likely won't next week.

It was nice that LaKisha was the motherly figure to soothe Sanjaya. They are close friends as I have heard she sort of mothered him anyway.

Accordiing to an exit article on Sanjaya, he is or has hired a bodyguard. He definitely wants to stay in show business, even do modeling or acting on Broadway. I'd post it but I don't have who published it, just who wrote it. Also, he says in there that he did read the blogs and was aware of the controversy surrounding him, but he wanted to stay as long as he could and just be positive and stay true to himself. He credits Simon with teaching him the most.

Ya'll know that I love Sanjaya and so it's really neat to read all the positive articles about this amaziing young man. There are too many I've read to post them here but one was a comparison in alternating paragraphs Cho and then Sanjaya sort of the negative and the positive. Sanjaya is such a great role model for young people. He has been invited by Peoples Mag to attent the White House Press Conference Dinner....can you imagine ever that this youngster would be there? He really has made a great impression.

So glad the judges slammed Lakisha. As I've said, there's something about her I just don't like. I think she has more ego than it appears.

Melinda, Jordin and Blake will be the final three, no doubt... with Melinda/Jordin as the final two. Jordin as the best vocal from any Idol on any season? That's quite a statement, I'm so looking forward to it! I'm also looking forward to Phil singing "The Change," which is one of my favorite Garth songs.

Jordin will probably win then if she is coming on so strong and Simon has already told her he could see her winning. I think Phil will out Blake. So the final three, if LaKisha's fans don't keep her up will be Jordin, Melinda and Phil. If the fans post sympathy votes for LaKisha, she will last this week, but if they use good judgement and vote for those who do well, she will go, I'd think.

    Thanks for the spoilers Darcy.

Usually I would ask that spoiler tags be used but Idol never tapes ahead or has spoilers come out (unless it's song choices) so there is no need for precaution this time. I am happy for Jordin, Blake, and Melinda. They are the top 3 for sure and I still see a top 2 with Melinda and Jordin with Jordin winning, just as I said from the beginning. I think Lakisha's time is up. The audience always loves her but the judges usually sway voters and she nearly got the axe next week. With Sanjaya gone, there is no safety net for anyone. If she was as bad as the judges thought, then she will be gone tomarrow night which is a surprise given the theme tonight. I look forward to seeing it for myself. I am glad they dodn't usually tape ahead because I wouldn't want to know everything every week.

Jordin--YES! She is so amazing, especially since she's only 17. She and Melinda were both simply fantastic. I also liked Chris's performance of "Change the World", and I had been a little nervous about that because I love Eric Clapton. Since I wasn't familiar with Fantasia's song, I thought Lakisha's performance was fine; however, she's so overshadowed by Melinda and Jordin that I am nervous for her. Although I liked Phil better last week, tonight was pretty good, too. Blake was my least favorite. First of all, "Imagine" is not a very challenging song and like Simon said, you can't do much with it. I also can't watch him; something about his mouth bothers me.
