I saw the picture of Brenda Dickinson in DruRocks' posts, and I'm intrigued by Jerry Douglas' quote that he "couldn't stand her." :lol: Can anyone give me the scoop on Brenda's exit from Y&R and what may have occurred between her and Jerry Douglas? I don't recall Brenda ever appearing on another soap. Was she blackballed from the industry? I always liked her interpretation of Jill Abbott the best.

I may have got it wrong, but from what I watched on The Young and the Restless: The E! THS, she got fired after having too many illnesses on the set, and she couldn't come to work. There was at one point, she had an infection, and had to leave work early, and the execs got tired of her calling out all the time, so they replaced her.

she sure wasn't wonderful in her 80s appearances that Dru uploaded. Wretched acting!

Regarding Jerry Douglas - she made numerous public complaints regarding the show always sticking her with "geriatric" men. A true class act ... :rolleyes:

Ugh! Yes I think it is. They can't be much different in age, yet one looks so much better...

I've only seen scads of her work but if the stuff I've seen of her in the 80s is indicative of what she became, I'll be thankful for Jess Walton.

From what she said on the E! behind the scenes of Y&R show it sounded like she was one of the many unfortunate women who suffer from horribly painful periods with severe cramping and bleeding. She said they would basically make life as awful as possible for her by scheduling her on the set all day even though they didn't use her. They also would force her to come in on days off and then not use her.

LOL! After Brenda was gone Jerry admited that he hated working with her. And it's clear as to why. If you check out the "VideoBash" forum, there are some Brenda clips there and you can see she took her acting to a whole other "bizarre level." She was practically a "Joan Collins" with all her hysterics. I have no idea what BD was on, but whatever it was, worked against her.

I admit that I did enoy the banter between her and Kay, but was relieved when Jess Walton replaced her. In fact I believe TPTB had JE waiting patiently until Brenda's contract was up so they could replace her.

And yep BadZoe that was pretty much the story that went down. It was a "he said, she said" type thing. It got to the point where Brenda was missing too many days due to illness. As it seems though she was too much behind the scenes. I believe Thom Bierdz called her a "handful." Jerry also stated (jokingly) that he felt like strangling her at times because of her behaviour. The whole quote under my signature was basically a response by JD when he was asked which Jill he preferred working with (Brenda/Walton).

Basically she sued for wrongful termination, and I believe everything was settled outside of court. Ever since then she has been pretty much blacklisted from the industry.

But anyways here she is TODAY out and ABOUT!

      Thanks so much for posting this. Since they had retconned Roger/Holly's relationship after his return as being "Roger was always in love with Holly" when it was actually the other way around, they kept up this narrative in this video. Understandable, but it still bugs me. Holly was never his "heart." That's baloney. He only married her to be in Christina's life and was screwing other women like Diane and Hillary the whole time. Peggy was truly the only woman that Roger ever loved, and that wasn't even a very healthy relationship. Holly only really fell out of love with Roger after she realized she loved Ed while they were divorcing. I'm glad he reminded people that the rape scenes were taped in a day. It's amazing what they accomplished with very little rehearsal. That scene still has great impact after all these years. And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask. Alan's insanely over-the-top reaction to his return when Roger had absolutely no hold against him anymore. Yikes, one of the worst things Long did while she was still writing the show, though she absolutely had a tough task bringing back a guy who fell off a cliff.

      Breakdown writers can pitch stories and obviously they have influence over what is included in the breakdown but MVJ is the final decision maker. It depends on the faith you have in MVJ if you feel Carlivati is going to be a problem. I don't think a throwaway having a book author named after him is a sign he's taken over the show. Most people didn't even catch the reference.

      Oh wow. After reading your post, I realized that they had "Carl Ivati" in the script AGAIN yesterday June 6.    Eva said she was reading his latest, and Tomas said "Work's been so busy, I haven't had time to get into his new series". Then Eva proceeds to tell him that "the first book is called 'Mercy and Goodness' and it's all about how the couple first met and how they got separated".   She goes on and on about how great it is. And she says she has the book in her hotel room if he wants to borrow it. She says it has twists and turns. And meanwhile Kat is snooping in Eva's room to look for the helmet and gloves, and finds the book and dismisses it as "basic". I saw that whole scene -- but I wasn't paying attention to the name of the author.  And when Tomas said the name, I heard it in his accent so I didn't hear "carlivati".  II was mainly trying to see if the acting had improved with the actor playing Tomas, and I think he has improved somewhat.   I only see it when typed out. So they had several scenes yesterday about a "Carl Ivati" book?  Barf! Well at least Kat had the good sense to dismiss it as "basic". Ron Carlivati wrote the breakdown yesterday!   Featuring himself in it! Addressing to the collective "you" whoever you may be: Some of you, months ago, said Oh Ron is only doing breakdowns.  The story comes from MVJ, so he won't influence things, you said. May 27 started it, with Christopher Dunn breakdown and Lynn Martin script. But they didn't need to continue it June 6 with Carlivati breakdown and Jazmen Darnell Brown script.
