Members MichaelGL
That's sad to see Jeanne Marie Ford go. So how many talented writers does ATWT have now? The team has been on a steady bleed ever since MADD got rid of nearly all the male writers. ATWT does make some of the most unique and daring hires though in their writing department. More than GL. Laiman, Whitesell, Cwikly, etc, etc, all big names in the industry. A part of me wishes GL would go the same route. The last two big names to be on their writing team was back in 2004 and it was Gillian Spencer and Lorraine Broderick. It is sad to see Beth depart DAYS. I'm really nervous about this firing, and Judy Tate's possible hiring. It could make or break Ed Scott's DAYS. My opinion has changed a bit about Scholz and Cohen. I never really liked them cause they wrote for both PC and GL at a time when both shows were going down the tubes. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Meg Kelly's firing, and a seasoned DAYS vet writer hiring in the spot of Co-HW.
Members Sylph
August scriptwriters: Peter Brash: 5 Richard Culliton: 5 Susan Dansby: 2 Jeanne Marie Ford: 5 Mimi Leahey: 1 David A. Levinson: 1 Judy Tate: 4 I don't have an opinion on Leahey and Levinson, and I said what I had on the others for now. And, Michael, you're right about MADD firing those male writers! Spot on! How could I forget that.
Members ChangedBYSon
To TOUPS: What has "VOLA" got to do with anything I said???????? I really don't understand why people keep bringing her up to me? I mentioned her one time after seeing her at a Short Film event in Venice Beach and now people act like I'm her frigg'n agent. As for "lies", I haven't lied about anything. Everything I've said about Ed Scott suggesting Leann lose weight and about Jeanne Marie Ford being disliked by Hogan and stabbing JER in the back is PURE UNADULTURATED FACT. As an editor, Jeanne clashed with Hogan something terrible and instead of firing her (as Hogan wanted), Wyman made her a script writer. She's not the most socially liberal person like Chris Goutman or Sheffer. I don't see how any of this has anything to do with VOLA. ***SHRUGS***
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Who knows? Maybe Beth will pop up on ATWT soon... Or maybe Bradley will sway her back to B&B, she was there prior to coming back to Days.
Members Sylph
Quite possibly she might go to The Bold and the Beautiful. Nice to know GH and B&B are the most stable shows.
Members Faulkner
ATWT losing Judy Tate is pretty dire: she's one of the show's few writers of color, and we all know diversity isn't exactly ATWT's strong point these days. Tate was pretty outspoken at the WGA Writing Seminar about her anger over this fact.
Members Adam
ATWT's staff has just been turned upside down this year and yet Jean is still pushing out the stories. Just leaves me aghast and speechless and shrugging my shoulders

Members MichaelGL
Goutman is so blind when it comes to Passanante. He's firing everyone except for her.

Members NYC123
I am not watching ATWT for a while until Jean is gone which will be in like years!
Members Soapsuds
Seriously what is up with that? Does anyone know why she is still there?? Come on it's obvious she is a hack!! Agreed!!
Members Y&RWorldTurner
As much as I hated people like MADD, I think it was a bad decision for P&G to get rid of the Executive In Charge of Production position. I know that if someone competent were in that position now, we'd definitely have two overall great shows out of GL and ATWT.
Members Khan
Let me see if I've this straight: AS THE WORLD TURNS Written by JEAN PASSANANTE LEAH LAIMAN LISA CONNOR COURTNEY SIMON PETER BRASH RICHARD CULLITON SUSAN DANSBY DAVID A. LEVINSON Am I close? If I am, then I can understand the panic (although, I'm all for streamlining writing staffs). Most of this team is solid, but the fact that some good writers are being shown the door over Passanante and Laiman scares me. I don't know how well Judy Tate will do at DAYS. Really, I think most of Hogan and Meg's writing staff is comprised of writers (Backus, Bradbury, Donato, Johnson, Rayfield) who, for one reason or another, don't belong there. But, if these changes will improve DAYS's overall quality, again, I'm all for it. I have no doubt Milstein will return to B&B. Just as I have no doubt Ed Scott will replace her w/ either Janice Ferri Esser or Natalie Minardi Slater.
Administrator Toups Posted September 2, 2007 Author Administrator Share Posted September 2, 2007 With the changes, here's what ATWT's writing team will look like: Jean Passanante Leah Laiman Lisa Connor David A. Levinson (who will also sometimes write scripts) Courtney Simon Susan Dansby Richard Culliton Peter Brash It's a small staff but ATWT should be having new additions pretty soon.
