2007: The Directors and Writers Thread

That's sad to see Jeanne Marie Ford go.

So how many talented writers does ATWT have now? The team has been on a steady bleed ever since MADD got rid of nearly all the male writers.

ATWT does make some of the most unique and daring hires though in their writing department. More than GL. Laiman, Whitesell, Cwikly, etc, etc, all big names in the industry. A part of me wishes GL would go the same route. The last two big names to be on their writing team was back in 2004 and it was Gillian Spencer and Lorraine Broderick.

It is sad to see Beth depart DAYS. I'm really nervous about this firing, and Judy Tate's possible hiring. It could make or break Ed Scott's DAYS.

My opinion has changed a bit about Scholz and Cohen. I never really liked them cause they wrote for both PC and GL at a time when both shows were going down the tubes.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Meg Kelly's firing, and a seasoned DAYS vet writer hiring in the spot of Co-HW.

August scriptwriters:

Peter Brash: 5

Richard Culliton: 5

Susan Dansby: 2

Jeanne Marie Ford: 5

Mimi Leahey: 1

David A. Levinson: 1

Judy Tate: 4

I don't have an opinion on Leahey and Levinson, and I said what I had on the others for now. And, Michael, you're right about MADD firing those male writers! Spot on! How could I forget that.

To TOUPS:

What has "VOLA" got to do with anything I said????????

I really don't understand why people keep bringing her up to me?

I mentioned her one time after seeing her at a Short Film event in Venice Beach

and now people act like I'm her frigg'n agent.

As for "lies", I haven't lied about anything.

Everything I've said about Ed Scott suggesting Leann lose weight and about Jeanne Marie Ford

being disliked by Hogan and stabbing JER in the back is PURE UNADULTURATED FACT.

As an editor, Jeanne clashed with Hogan something terrible and instead of firing her (as Hogan wanted),

Wyman made her a script writer. She's not the most socially liberal person like Chris Goutman or Sheffer.

I don't see how any of this has anything to do with VOLA.

Let me see if I've this straight:

AS THE WORLD TURNS

Written by

JEAN PASSANANTE

LEAH LAIMAN

LISA CONNOR

COURTNEY SIMON

PETER BRASH

RICHARD CULLITON

SUSAN DANSBY

DAVID A. LEVINSON

Am I close?

If I am, then I can understand the panic (although, I'm all for streamlining writing staffs). Most of this team is solid, but the fact that some good writers are being shown the door over Passanante and Laiman scares me.

I don't know how well Judy Tate will do at DAYS. Really, I think most of Hogan and Meg's writing staff is comprised of writers (Backus, Bradbury, Donato, Johnson, Rayfield) who, for one reason or another, don't belong there. But, if these changes will improve DAYS's overall quality, again, I'm all for it.

I have no doubt Milstein will return to B&B. Just as I have no doubt Ed Scott will replace her w/ either Janice Ferri Esser or Natalie Minardi Slater.

With the changes, here's what ATWT's writing team will look like:

Jean Passanante

Leah Laiman

Lisa Connor

David A. Levinson (who will also sometimes write scripts)

Courtney Simon

Susan Dansby

Richard Culliton

Peter Brash

It's a small staff but ATWT should be having new additions pretty soon. ;)
