Does Christel Kahil's Lily act snobby to you?

Victoria Rowell also married and had a child with a white man too.

Sidney Poitier has been married to a white woman for many years.

Quincy Jones was married to blonde actress Peggy Lipton, had two daughters, and then dated Natassia Kinski.

Diana Ross was married to a white man for many years as well.

There's more interracial dating and marriage out there than we think. We can't assume that someone who "acts ghetto" won't ever be interested in someone of another race.

I was waiting for it

To you, Michael and Davetta had great chemistry. You cannot speak for everyone, Taraija. You certainly cannot speak for me, because I have to disagree with you on that one. To me, Davetta and Michael had zero chemistry. I felt that that the couple was forced and they lost a lot of popularity since Davetta stepped into the role. They've had basically nothing to do after they got married. They became boring, unlike how they were when Christel was playing Lily. I was interested. They were great together. It didn't seem forced. I started hating the couple because of the lack of chemistry.

Taraija, if you are talking about the chemisrtry between Davetta and Victoria and Victoria and Christel, I toally see your point. Davetta had tons more chemistry with Victoria than Christel does. However, Christel has more chemistry with Kristoff than Davetta ever could. Davetta never came off as Neil's daughter as much as Christel does. You can see the chemistry.

WOW Drew, you are so right, and i think a bit too rational for some. You have thought this thru and have hit upon some GREAT points. I as a female did not get along with my mother for quite awhil, and tried NOT to be like her. Who would want ths in Lily I don't know. Lily has more chemistry with ALL the males in her life. I thinl it's great.

Lily(as CK portrayed her) had the most AMAZING chemistry with MG, and THAT'S th reason we have this couple> Without the instant connection fron the very beginning of this couple - WITH CHRISTEL!! - this couple would have disappeared like so many others. Give the girl some PROPS!. She made this couple with Daniel.

Her relationship with her mother should now be SECONDARY to that with her husband! So who cares about her chemistry with anyone else BUT the men in her life now? And with Christel We will have thatmuch better than with DS.

WELCOME BACK CHRISTEL, and know that the more I see you the more I know I'm glad you're back.

Bring on the Daniel/Lily stories PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And that's a comment I don't have a problem for. DruRocks simply doesn't like Lily, or teens for that matter. She's not enjoying Christel's Lily and I respect her for that. She's not going off and verbally assaulting Christel in a personal manner.

EXACTLY!! And even DruRocks may come around when Christel gets more AIRTIME. She's barely been on, and she's being judged as if everyone knows what and how she's going to do things.

She's older and wiser now, as a human being, let's give her a chance to take her place back. It's not her fault whatever happened with the other girl.

I mean DS came in AFTER CK had already created this couple as Y&R's new hot couple. There would have been no Daniel/Lily were it not for what she did!

Then the writers decided to write Lily older and more mature and sexy, and DS was hired! It was already set up for her. AND she is 4 years older than Christel. DS came in as a 22 year old WOMAN. Christel was in the role from the ages of 14 yrs.- 17 yrs old. Obviously finishing High Scholl while doing the show, as a 15 year old Lily!!!!

So now CK is just now turned 19 years old (11/30/06 was her birthday), and she is stepping back into the role of Lily as a married WOMAN, who is being written differently for. (well except that jack smith the creator of the couple is now gone)

Let's get more shows in the can for the new/old Lily before final judgment is passed. And please when we do so, let's NOT attack a young LADY personally!!!

It's NOT her fault what happened. she was just blessed that SHE was asked to come back when they decided to let the other girl go.

To answer the question posed in the original post in this thread...HELL YES! I can't understand why TPTB prefer this version of Lily over Davetta's unless they are going somewhere completely bizarre with the character. Not only did Davetta have wonderful chemistry with MG..she had it with VR and KSJ as well as Adrienne Leon. I almost liked Colleen in scenes with Lily when Davetta was in the role! :o :o So bring back Davetta! :)

NO,NO a thousand times NO, Christel Khalil definitely does NOT act Snobby.

She acts like the teenager she is, and most of her scenes so far have been with the other teenagers.

I think when we see her in more romantic stories with her husband, we will see the other side to Lily and

Christel's protrayal of her.

It's so mind-boggling to me that some are forgetting why CK was asked back to replay Lily.

Something negative happened with DS, let's not forget, and she was fired! So what good does it do to ask for her back?-

which I for one do NOT want.

It's so counterproductive. If you have a problem with how Lily is protrayed - although - I still can't for the life of me see how

anyone can judge this girl's performance agian when she's barely even aired - then truly you should express your problem with her,

and either ask to have her adjusted, or ask for a re-cast.

But it's very obvious that DS won't be back This decision was not made lightly.

To answer the question I say no.

I have liked both of the girls who have played Lilly equally as well, and I think CK is doing a good job so far. I just don't see what many people are saying they see.

I jsut haven't bought into all the backstage drama of this. I have read the stories about CK and VR not getting along, and that CK is hard to work with. I have also heard some say that DS was the same way. For some reason I just find it hard to believe that if CK was the same way as DS they would have brought her back or vice versa.

We may never know what actually happened, but right now I am just enjoying the show and forgetting all the backstage drama. CK is not my favorite actress in the world, but she is capable, and as long I find she is doing a good job - all the backstage mess doesn't matter to me at this point.

I especially enjoy CK yesterday in the scenes with Colleen. I felt she captured a teenager very well.

I would have to say yes. This is one of the many reasons I've never liked her portrayal of Lily. She comes across as bland, boring, prissy, and weak IMO. Those are just not the things I see a child of Dru's being. I no longer care what happens to the Daniel and Lily relationship; and the Dru/Lily relationship has basically vanished into thin air since she came back. It's pretty obvious that there is no love there. People are going to like what they like, and that's their right. I love DS any day of the week over CK. That's just how it is.

ITA with you steveframe, you don't see what people are saying, because it's not true. It's like the emporer's new clothes, some people are seeing, or expecting to see what they are being told or led to believe.

When Christel left last year, her character was just starting to take off in the Daniel/Lily storyline. Everyone was falling in love with their characters.

When the role was recast, the writers decided to write Lily diferently, older, and more mature. DS was given credit for this, when it was dictated for by the story (Lily got married, and moved away from home), and the fact that they wanted to differentiate the recasted role.

So we know there would have been no DAILY couple for DS had it not been for Christel's out-of-this-world chemistry with Michael. Then she came into a sexier Lily part, and some people are acting as if this is a testament to some superiority over Christel, It's not.

When we start seeing Lily with Daniel, I'm confident the great love for Christel will return in full force.

I think it's great that some think they prefer DS, she did a good job as Lily, now they need to give Christel a chance to portray this "new" Lily before final judgement is passed. Christel has just turned 19 years old (11/30/87).

Let's remember also DS came into this hot role that was already set up for her as a 22 year old woman(she will be 23 in jan/feb),

Christel Khalil left this role as the child she was,( she played Lily from 14-17 years old.)

Let's be fair and realistic.

I don't care what material is given to an actor/actress it's what you do with it. I never liked CK's portrayal of Lilly back when Lilly was a young teen and I still don't care for it the second time around. I don't think it's fair to say that the reason DS shined is because she was given all this "mature" material. She shined..because she captured the very essence of a Barber/Winters offspring. CK never did that even in her best days.

I think what some are failing to see is that some of us didn't know anybetter because all we ever saw was CK's Lily, now that we have had a taste of DS's Lily...it's an "aha" moment for us as to how Lily should have been portrayed all along.

I've given CK plenty of time the first time and this time to show me how Lilly has changed, grown and become this emerging married woman. All I see is the same silly, eyerolling, whiny schoolgirl who was stupid enough to fall for Kevin Fisher's antics.

I don't think anyone has "seen enough" of Christel's portryal to judge it.

She Has barely aired since she's been back, and until this week even when she aired, she did not utter many lines.

Yhis week it's been about her with Colleen, and they are acting like HighSchoolers.

We have not seen her with her husband, and we've barely seen her in any big way with her mother.

So how can any fair comparison's be made at this point?

We know CK has the acting chops, and this is proven with her bookings in Hollywood,

her EMMY nominations at 15 and 16 years old, and her winnings of Performer of the Week by SOD - TWICE!!!!

Supposedly she was the youngest one ever to accomplish this feat, an honor given each week by the Digest to ONE actress from all the soaps, for the ENTIRE week!!!!, whose acting has excelled for that week.

With such talent evident, I'm sure we are in store for the same great performances from Christel Khalil as we saw from her before!

And add to that the incredible chemistry with her husband. BRING IT ON!

This is about what sums it up for me as well. I tried CK before as a Winters and NEVER felt she was right in the role and more than that, she was annoying as all get out. I saw her a long time and then her she was Dru's kid and to that I said, "Dru who?" Is there another character on the show called Drew now has that isn't Dru's kid. And it's not just about "mature" material either. Lily came back the same girl lying to her family, sneaking around with Daniel, prematurely suggesting marriage to Daniel, and scheming with Colleen. The difference is Davetta in the role you felt a maturity into how it was portrayed on screen. People want people the feel something for. Detest for a character is fine when it's the show's intention for you to detest the character. Hence Gloria. Lily should be a likable character that you care about AS AN INDIVIDUAL and not because she's attached other characters. Yes Davetta was lucky to come into a pairing and family of well liked characters but so did CK minus Daniel before and she still didn't fit the bill of likable. In Davetta's Lily, there was relatability, rootability, credibility, and believ

I don't claim that CK has no talent. She does have talent but for all those pimping her talent this is the same girl who sat a year with no one strongly pursuing her(that we've heard of) after 3 "Meryl Streep" worthy years she put in Y&R. Don't get me wrong. I don't put down people who return to the business especially after I've seen them do other noteworthy things like Victoria Rowell, Shemar Moore, and a few others. For someone who said that said that CK will be apart of Y&R for years to come, well sorry, I'm not surprised because I don't see people beating down their doors for the young starlet who has plenty of years to go in the industry. I didn't hear buzz on boards for a 4 month period when she left. Yeah I know she has fans but I didn't see an industry clamoring for her return but I did get an industry who questioned if there was a need to get rid of Davetta. So CK was an original but so was Terry Lister and loved him but CK is not Terry Lister. And though Terry is gone, Peter Bergman is doing a great job and though many may still love/appreciate Terry and what he gave in the role, majority are quite happy with Peter.

Everyone has an opinion and is entitled but I care more about the opinions of overall viewers WHO liked Lily, the Winters, and Daniel/Lily. Or should I say, I would care if I was a producer of a show about those that cared about Lily and ALL HER RELATIONSHIPS. Not those that ff, mute, change the channel, or have an indifference to the character or whatever actress plays the part. I'm talking about the ones that care about LILY as an ENTITY and that came for MOST with Davetta. I know SOME Davetta fans say that she plays Lily like Dru's kid while SOME say CK has better chemistry with Daniel/MG. Well portrayal and how you come across is important and not to say chemistry is not but that is MORE subjective than acting portrayal imo. Like I said before, so CK has to be tied to Daniel/MG because that's the stongest point her fans have and even LML herself. So what happens if MG leaves? Then CK's is dependent on another Daniel that she has chemistry with because that's her biggest recognition on the show? Chemistry with Daniel/MG? Davetta's Lily was Dru's kid and one thing I don't see changing is her being Dru's kid or a Winters. And what Lily needs to be overall is a Winters over Daniel's wife. Daniel's wife may not be a "forever" situation but Dru's kid/a Winters shouldn't be changing. But if it did, maybe that would explain CK's Lily NOT seeming like she belongs to that family.

I will tell you that for those that have become strong Davetta fans, once she's doing something else, I think they won't care too much about this situation anymore. BUT you do have those Y&R viewers that just either care about the character of Lily, want to care about the character of Lily, or just want to enjoy watching the show and it seems like a good amount of those, still won't be enjoying CK in the role of Lily.

I don't think many question that CK has talent but what they don't feel is that she fits the part of Lily. Some never thought she did. That would be me. Some settled cause she was what we had. Then some got to see what lots envisioned and don't want to go back to what they never felt was right. Rod Steiger and Marlon Brando are great actors but does that mean that Rod should have been the Godfather? So maybe both should have played the role to get a fair assessment. But that's right, we as viewers did get to see two good actresses play the role and one is favored over the other by a majority and not just on this board but on plenty of others.
