All: Missed Opportunities of Storylines on Soaps

When a character is killed off or a character is written off as suddenly leaving town sometimes untapped storyline potential goes unrealised.I have an example this.On ATWT,to me it is almost unforgivable for this show killing off Paul and Emily's baby girl.I mean this child had the lineage of a Stewart,Ryan, and Stenbeck in its gene pool to me there was so much future storyline right there that was left untapped. If I wanted to rewrite history on this to make it work,I would have had James Stenbeck payoff of Meg Snyder to fake baby girl ryan's death, telling emily the baby is dead. Then James would have spirited the baby off with him.I wouldn't put it past James to fake his grandchild's death. He did the same thing with baby Cabot making everybody think the baby died in the cabin explosion. Then once the truth comes out that baby girl ryan didn't really die and Meg is exposed Paul and Emily will go out for blood on her.Now the child would be named Liza Barbie Ryan Stenbeck. Can you imagine this child growing up and terrorizing Oakdale for years worse than James Stenbeck ever could. She would be the granchild of Barbara Ryan and James Stenbeck for crying out loud.

Hattie on DAYS. I loved this character. Both Andrea & Deidre played her well and I would of loved to have seen Hattie try to take over Marlena's life.

Totally agree about baby Jenny!

James knows all, they could have had a nurse working at the hospital that was really under his thumb, and when Paul and Emily brought Jenny in, she could have found a barely there pulse that Meg missed, perhaps her hands were freezing b/c of the ice storm, and spirited her away...

Or hey, Craig was in the hospital that day...

That kid is a goldmine of potential story!

Days of our Lives missed really great potential.

For example:

Tony and Sami pairing in 2002, can you just imagine what kind of storyline that would be. All the Brady's would suffer a heart attack the day they announce their engagement.

Brady/Dimera feud in 2002. The HW really had things moving. Tony had that diary of Stefano's. Colin Murphy was somehow tied in, the history with the boat explosion killing most of Stefano's family. John's paternity(I think he's Shawn Sr's son with Daphne Dimera). Colin Murphy could have been Andre's son with Molly Brady. So much potential and then suddenly..... Poooffff...... HW's fired ;)

I always think killing off young characters is a mistake. Killing Bryant Montgomery was such a huge one, in terms of long-term potential. I didn't really like Todd Rotundi, but the Bryant/Craig dynamic could have run for years. I mean, imagine if GL had killed off Phillip the first time Grant Aleksander left the show.

Biggest missed opportunity of story on GH - IMO

Zander is Alexis' long lost son. They were setting up and then dropped when it when they mentioned Alexis' locked box. It should of been Zander's birth certificate that she kept in the lock box she kept in the closet.

I guess that's why I'm a little p'turbed that SAM is her daughter - she got Zander's story! I really hate this show!
