AMC: The show will be CANCELLED

Featured Replies

AMC will be cancelled. I just know it. The show is imploding before our very eyes. Every single week brings another confirmation of gloom and doom.

Since AMC will be no more in probably about a year or 2, I thought some of the longtime fans (and not so longtime fans) can leave some of their favorite memories and/or stories from the past.

Some of mine:

-Chuck & Donna in Switzerland

-The Travis/Erica/Jackson triangle

-Brooke & Adam’s love/hate marriage

-Billy Clyde Tuggle’s obsession/stalking of Dixie

-Natalie & Trevor shipwrecked on the island

-Janet From Another Planet (everything involving her)

-Erica & Dimitri in Budapest

-Brooke’s Tempo investigations

-Kendall’s introduction

-The tornado

-Erica’s drug addiction

Why would say that All My Children will BE CANCELED. There are many rumors that Mct is leaving and so on. But could we just have the facts. Is Mct leaving? Is burton coming? Just set the rumors straight once and for all. All my children just have the potential never doubt it.

I agree. Brian Frons was hired to be ABCDaytime's Angel of Death, to usher the soaps out of the schedule and into oblivion.

Too upset to share warm memories; too filled with contempt for Disney.

It is not THAT bad, when you think AMC is bad look at DAYS a year ago, hell 6 months ago. That show was a mess, JER was destroying it. It took awhile but they got rid of JER and the show is coming together. In time McT will be shown the door and HOPEFULLY Frons will as well. AMC is not going anywhere, if it does it's going with the whole lineup of AMC, GH, and OLTL to SoapNet when and if ABC pulls the plug on daytime. Thanks to SoapNet the soaps will continue on after broadcast shuns them. They might go on with a lighter budget and move to the west coast (OLTL and AMC) but they will not just be cancelled into oblivion. If they did SoapNet would go down the tubes, how many viewers will the real in with old eps? Not many.

If you told me this 6-7 years ago I'd laugh my booty off hehe. I don't even watch AMC These days anymore its beyond watchable now. Its hard to realize this was the same show me and my friends would skip class to go to my house and watch AMC. I use to sit in class and think OMG WTF Is going on today hehe. I really don't get why ABC Would keep this man (frons) in a job that he isn't doing good. AMC Used to be a soap with love,Family,Character driven storylines, people you wanted to cheer on and people you hated but still deep down you loved em.

Family of mines that use to watch AMC since day one that have passed away wouldn't even recognize AMC Today :(.

AMC RIP 1970-2007

I don't think this show could ever be good again.

1.ABC Would have to get rid of Frons(I don't see this happening anytime soon).

2.Getting rid of MMT(I can see this happening, but whats the point? Frons said day one he is someone who is very much in control and wants to be involved.

Wow. Those of you saying it's not bad, what show are you watching? What ratings are you seeing? What news reports are you reading? What cast list are you looking at?

I'm not saying it's not bad, I'm saying it's not THAT bad. As tired as I am with the whole show I still am holding out for some sort of hopeful anouncement. Come Jan 1st if there is no news, I'm out.

Okay here's my two cents...well may be three....l'll start by saying I'm so much more a reader of the boards than a poster. I get too caught up in the drama... and angered by the negativity so now I just read.

I think we all agree AMC is in a bit of a slump. But any true soap fan has watched many many slumps over the years.....will watch them rise and slump again.....they are soap operas!!!!!

Imagine what it takes to tell new fresh relevant stories everyday for 40, 50, 60 years!! It cannot be easy.

It makes me sooo angry when people say they are going to stop watching because it's not at its greatest, and it infuriates me when people say a show should be cancelled for ANY reason!! We know the genre is WAY UNDER appreciated in the entertainment industry....we fans must never.

Soaps are unlike ANYTHING! In the gifts they give their viewer....what else can you spend a lifetime watching, gives you characters that become our life long friends, people we see more often than many of our extended family members stories that can shape our lives...nothing!

And if one (or more) of those life long "friends" leaves, be it the decision of the show or the actor...it's sad but you must take it as part of the history that makes up this wonderful genre. Mistake are made(TPTB) people(actors) want change.

I'm devastated by the loss of Julia Vincent Teri.... and I will write and call ABC/Disney as much as I can to let them know...which is what we should all do. Soap fans have lost their voice!!!! I think in part due to these boards...while they are a great way to reach other soap fans, they are a breeding ground for negativity. If all that energy, anger and time was devoted and pointed in the right way I think we could get what we want.

We are soap fans and we rival ANY fans of ANYTHING in the world. We must NEVER be fair-weather fans!!! If you stop watching because things get slow or set dates that you will stop watching by if things are not "fixed" you were never a TRUE FAN you were somebody that watched the show! I would watch AMC if it was an hour of Erica looking out a window silently.....heck I'd watch if it was ?? I don't know ...Annie, anybody!! My point is I will never stop watching!!!

Imagine your horrible doom prediction happened, (really to any soap) and it's replaced by some new reality show format or new talk show or something and it TEMPORARILY does well. You thing the other networks would be far behind in cutting their soaps??? I don't! I truly think in today's entertainment world the end of just ONE more soap could be the undoing of them all!

Then where would we be?.....on these boards??? saying remember the soaps?? How great were they I really miss them!...now we get to watch the girl on (insert new talk show) who is afraid of light bulbs or does not know who the father of her baby is...or the boy that lives off bugs on (insert new reality show)??? I do not want to see this day do you????

So SUPPORT your soap.....they ALL need it!

Nice but if the ratings don't drop, no changes will be made and why should we the viewers sacrifice our time for shows we don't likew anymore? the decisions to tune out have not been easy.

It makes me sooo angry when people say they are going to stop watching because it's not at its greatest, and it infuriates me when people say a show should be cancelled for ANY reason!!

Huh????

Why should I continue to watch 100% crap? I don't like the idea of torturing myself for an hour everyday, thank you. I pray that the toilet ratings (which AMC deserves) will be a wakeup call for them to change. I have stood by AMC through other awful periods. But you know what was different then? There was at least something to enjoy (however small). AMC is so dark and gloomy. There isn't one bit of light. And I never said AMC should be cancelled, I said it would. I could be wrong, obviously. Maybe changes will be made and I will enjoy the show again. But if these changes aren't made immediately, I don’t see AMC lasting any longer than 2 years.
