Gay men or lesbian women can copulate with members of the opposite sex if they so desire. The human touch, regardless of sex, naturally arouses a person's passions. If Tom really cared about his image so much that he would want to have a child with a woman to disprove some of the rumors, he physically COULD have sex with a woman and obtain a biological child from that sex session. Either through human touch or fantasy and human touch or -- whatever. But it could happen. So I tend to agree with Kirk's assertion that Tom could be sterile. Granted, that doesn't mean he's not also gay, which may be true or may not be, but sterility is the more likely culprit (if we use the Nicole Kidman/Keith Urban baby argument).

Hell, everyone in the industry knows the messages that images can communicate -- especially after the great interpretations that have been gleaned from artfully posed photo shoots for "The Sopranos." So to me, and this is just me, by the way, I don't get "controlling" from the image. Actually, when I saw it for the first time I IMMEDIATELY thought, "Damn, Tom has Katie looking down in the direction of his penis, but Suri is obstructioning the view. It's like Tom is looking down not at Suri, but his penis, which he and Katie are proud of for allegedly helping to create Suri." The suggestive pose is a message of verility, fertility and pride. I don't doubt that Tom loves Suri (regardless of her parentage), but that's the message that photo communicates to me. By having all eyes point in the direction of his groin, it brings home the message that Suri is living proof of his ability to procreate.

SFJ, it was confirmed by Nicole herself and in official court documents that she was pregnant. During her split from Tom, she emphatically stated that she suffered a miscarriage and Tom left her. It's not a rumor. It's true.

Oh, I believe you now. As long as it was a miscarriage. I just don't see Nic aborting. (Obviously, I didn't know there was a miscarriage so when you sad "was" pregnant, I was thrown for a loop).

I remember thinking that he HAD to have been shooting blanks and knew that he was sterile, which is why he divorced Nicole when he found out she was pregnant. Otherwise why would he up and leave her like that? I always wondered who the baby daddy was.

So that leaves me to wonder...who is the biological father of Suri? Is she his, or was Katie artificially inseminated? I think Suri does look a lot like Katie.
