Not sure where to put this thread...but here goes:

Ok I'm not a big View watcher at all - but I figured I'm home, so I'll watch Rosie's 'comeback'. Well, she fit in pretty well - except that Joy is certainly trying to cause drama - asking questions regarding her thoughts on Tom Cruise, why she came back, and other pushy questions. It just seems like she's kind of being a !@#$%^&*] to her, and Rosie is doing a good job deflecting/ignoring it. Rosie did did already say though, within the first 20 minutes, "And you thought I was going to have problems with Elisabeth!", after Joy made fun of something she said.

It just isn't a good idea to put two comics together on a show like this, as Joy obviously seems jealous or is being a !@#$%^&*] IMO. I get the vibe that Joy is weary of Rosie being able to 'lead' the show.

My prediction is Joy is the next gal off this show and there will be a verbal fight this season that people will talk about between Joy and Rosie.

Omg - they just gave everyone in the audience a CRUISE. I wish I were there :( haha

THE VIEW officially jumped the shark today.

The set looks SO ugly. There isn't enough white to contrast it. I enjoyed "the home" look for the show. It looked so cozy and warm. Now, it just looks like a new set for WHEEL OF FORTUNE or something.

And Rosie pretty much put everyone off except Elisabeth(and that's because Bitsy's flattered that Rosie wants to munch her muffin). Didn't get Joy/Rosie hate vibes, but I taped it, so I'll look back at it in a minute or so.

Barbara looked SO pissed during the Jessica Simpson interview because Rosie wouldn't shut the hell up. You could tell Barbara was smiling, gritting her teeth, trying to hold it together, but girlfriend looked totallly pissed. I bet she was thinking, "I wish I'd chosen someone else."

THE VIEW won't last long enough for a Joy or Rosie replacement. I bet this'll be the last year for the show.

Now...on to Katie Couric's trainwreck...

Rosie is doing a good job for the first episode, but she has to watch herself JUST A BIT during guest interviews, she seemed to be kinda ALL OVER the place during the Jessica Simpson interview and even broke into a bit of song right when Simpson was talking...I mean I know Rosie is theatrical and stuff, but she needs to tone that down JUST A BIT. You could tell Barbara and the rest were a TAD annoyed by that.

Overall though, The View's ratings are going to go up up up with Rosie's arrival, you can tell she cuts throught the bullshit and just says what NEEDS to be said, she is great at cutting the tension and keeping things under control.

Another thing that is great is that there seems to be a little more direction, it isn't constant screaming over each other anymore.

Rosie seemed a little awkward. I suppose things will flow better with time. But I don't think she fits with an ensemble very well. She's too..... umm..... BIG. No, I don't mean her weight. It's just that everything about her is too BIG (if that makes sense). She doesn't fit the "Meredith" role. Meredith was a reporter and she was great as the moderator. Rosie is all wrong for that.

Loved the background, the blue and the orange was very modern. Loved Rosie, and how she talked about every subject that was talked about her in the media, and I love how she cuts through the BS and gets to the point, as she always does.

Jessica Simpson as the first guest, that's another story  Man her songs sucked. Had to FF through that.

    • Daytime belonged to CBS. They would have been making a lot of $$$ with that lineup. For context, this is the lineup at that time. Only one soap on ABC (GH) and NBC (TD) which was still an anthology at that point. So it wasn't until the opposition added more soaps that they became competitive. NBC CBS ABC 10:00am Say When! • Per recent Twitch live: Wraps filming his new film on Friday. Begins a new film on May 19. Will resume regular Twitch streams soon. Has a lot of projects coming out later this year. His current project has kept him in Tennessee longer than he was meant to be.
    • Has BTG been using flashbacks much? Of course, as a new show there aren't many f/b worthy moments but I think they can get by w/o having to use/recreate the Leslie reveal scene. What other 'soap' tropes have they employed or ignored so far? We've talked about the lack of traditional cliffhangers with lingering camera shots. They have done a couple of fantasy scenes. Has anyone apart from Dana had talk to themselves scenes? Montages?
    • Thank You!!! @rsclassicfanforever and to anyone else who contributed to the vaults over the years. I have dipped in/out and gotten my life watching Y&R early years. I never would had the appreciation for characters like Lorie Brooks if not for the Vaults, so again, Thanks.
    • Another lot of skipped episodes to look forward to when the time comes on Videoland. So annoying. They have skipped so many, especially in  season 15 where they skipped 19 episodes throughout the season. Is it just me or is the vault down? It's like a different error message this time so it's hard to know if it's me this time.
    • thank you for uploading the rest of season 12!!! I hope i can get them soon the links down! Thank you again for posting the B&B classic episodes to revisit!!!!
    • Hmm, okay.  BTW, my only problem with Kai & the surgery story is where is this guy's family? And, another BTW, I think I may have inadvertently added to that rumor from last year about a male descendant of Justus Ward. You see, that is an idea I could really get behind! Like I would pay to see those scenes. And, true, I did hear it ... [sheepish grin]

Yes they can. While rare, its not like soaps in the past havent said F that and used flashbacks of a scene even when a recast has been done. OLTL used to do that
    • Well, I am glad to know that & for it to make sense, so thanks for the info &  the perspective, also. At the end of AMC 1.0, I thought the new young talent was really quite good, but I missed Eden & NuBianca just ... well, I wasn't 100% sold on her & Bianca was so important to me. But then, Tad & Dixie were also important & yep, there's another problem, for me I mean. I'm not your typical AMC fan but I hung in there anyway. I know what you mean because it wasn't as good as it once had been but it was still Agnes's show in Pine Valley. Some of that is a bittersweet nostalgic clinging to the past, I guess. By that time I'd been through so many show cancellations. AW, Santa Barbara, PC, The City, GL, ATWT.

Betsy Snyder, when she was at DAYS was part of the WGA winning writing team before she died, tragically far too young.
