Good job to Days for holding on and doing very well in demos. It is in a good position for when Hogan takes over to take over B&B's slot.

Good for GL-I hope they beat all of ABC. Frons must be having a fit.

Good for Y&R although I agree with Dawn that the show is a little overhyped. It is good and was awesome last week but I am tiring of some of Latham's stories. The Brad stuff stinks and I used to love Phyllis/Nick but now I am bored. It is still in the top 3 for me but Days and ATWT are above Y&R for me right now in terms of holding my interest.

I am very worried about Passions. The show rocks and is getting nothing return. It sucks they have no history to fall back like the other shows because that is what pulls shows through bad times and Passions is so young that they may have pissed off to much of its core audience. This sucks alot :( .

Too funny, I was going to post this when I saw it this morning -- so you beat me to it! :) Actually, there are two things here a rating point is equal to HH, not viewers. Viewers are counted individually -- that's why ATWT is higher than DAYS and GH usually. (You have more people watching together in one house.) Also, the other factor is that the population of the US continues to grow. So not only do you have more HH (new families), but more viewers. ITA that # of viewers is relevant stat, not HH. (Primetime ranks shows by viewers, not HH.)

OMG...GL got a 2.5 on Tuesday???? :o WTH happened on that show? I can't for the life of me remember! I remember thinking the Wednesday episode with the Coopers was pretty funny considering how I've started to dislike them..but I didn't expect them to get "good" (in GL standards) ratings that day!

Wow! Aside from Y&R, GL has gained the most viewers over the year while other soaps decreased or didn't gain as much. Last week, it was soo close to beating AMC..GL's still got some fight left in it.

ATWT is in horrible shape right now IMHO. I mostly watch for Maura now.

I don't think Y&R is overhyped barely anyone speaks of it, and the ratings are obviously due to John's death, not even Cassie got this high, but that's a different ball game.

BTW I think GH is much better than B&B these days.

Well, I'm hoping Days takes over #2 because Bell has totally ruined B&B and most of the characters on the show. He's always been in the #2 position because of his cushy position behind Y&R. I've always said if you move B&B to a different timeslot, the ratings would plummet.

Holy crap!! :o Since when has ATWT been doing well in that demo?! I'm so used to seeing it in the bottom 3. GH seems to be losing a lot, so maybe ATWT will be in the top 3 next week! :D

And yay for GL getting a 2.5! I'm really impressed w/ their ratings. Due to time-constraints, I'm kind of taking a break from soaps, but I'm still glad that GL and ATWT seem to be holding steady in the ratings. That's always good. :)

I don't think the show is horrible. It is very boring though IMO. I don't like what's becoming of the show. It's sort of disorganized, and it's starting to remind me (dare I say it) a little bit of GH in terms of the storyline-telling.

ITA, though, that w/ ATWT and GL I will only watch for certain characters. I wind up FFing the bulk of the episodes (if I bother to tape them, which quite frankly...I don't think I'm going to be doing from now on.)

I watched AMC on SOAPnet and couldn't w/stand 5 minutes. The camera-work is awful IMO. It gave me a headache. I had to switch channels. I hope the other soaps don't follow suit.

I am happy for the DAYS fans for the way the show seems to be rebounding.I am a new viewer and I believe things will be better when Hogan joins.

I think ATWT will move up due to the location scenes next week and the wrap up of the slasher stryline. Plus,CBS is doing something right and promoting it like crazy.

I have been dissappointed with Y&R and the whole Nazi/Art/kidnapping story. The Dru/Nei/Carmen story is not as good as I thought it would be.Please Drucilla, stop lurking around and start "smacking" around,LOL!

The last week though have been good with some outstanding Emmy worthy acting in the Abbot storyline.

Until JER stops with the recycling of the SLs, the constant re-writing of history and characters just to make the plots work and gets a better writing team and starts giving the viewers some pay-offs people are not going to tune in. I've waited over 3 years for Sheridan to get her son back and over 6 years for Luis and Sheridan to get married and they're further apart then they've ever been before and I'm sick of it!!!!!

WEll I disagree with you on both counts. ATWT has some boring stories just like all shows do, but it is not in horrible shape. Up until yesterday it was the only soap I could watch.

Y&R has it's moments but I find it overall very boring most days. I used to love the show, but I have not loved it in a long time, and esp. don't right now. Last week was good, but before that it was only good at times, and this week it has been a borefest again. I tried to watch it on SoapNet, but couldn't get into it at all.

I agree. What the hell kind of writer drags a storyline on for 6 freaking years?!

PASSIONS needs a new HW right now, or by the end of this year, viewers are gonna be so upset.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the show is down at a 1.0 by the end of the year, either.

    • I assume they did at some point during the finale...
    • Kelly was a horribly-written character overall. Just think, two Emmy-winning actresses (including Cynthia Watros, Nina, GH, and Annie, GL) couldn't make it work. Pamela is campy, but so are Dani, Vanessa, Leslie, and Joey. And, I don't want to be too judgy because my love for camp changes depending on the show. OLTL, DAYS, and some eras of GH had me rolling with the camp. However, Passions was overkill and I hated it. And, here, I can take it or leave it. It's ok in small doses (note to RC). I see this show as more of a serious drama.
    • I think one of the reasons that pilot didn't get picked up was because Vicki L was associated more with being Thelma Harper and playing older then she was playing her own age.  It was a blessing it didn't get picked up, or we would have been deprived of the syndicated era of Mama's Family.   Also, worth noting a Pre Night Court Marsha Warfield and pre Perfect Strangers Rebecca Arthur in the cast.  All talented women, but stuck with a bad script. And the other pilot had a pre Fran Fine.. Fran Drescher as the best friend.  I think that pilot might have been picked up if Karen Valentine and Fran Drescher switched roles.
    • So, on rewatch....did Rick and Mindy never have sex?
    • Cady had a fairly posh accent or manner as Rosanna - the character was a 180 from Dixie when she went to ATWT, and it was a huge success initially. As someone mostly only familiar with the nagging, miserable or clueless Dixie of the mid-late '90s and early 2000s it was what convinced me Cady could act. I thought she was incredible in her first run. Later, in future stints, her hair and story and performances were all over the place but a lot of that was down to the show for me. She brought some of Rosanna back with her to Dixie in her ill-fated return and a lot of people didn't like it, which I understood but I did think the character needed some change. I think she's had a little bit of the same persona and arch performance in every role she's played since, including Jennifer Horton at DAYS or Kelly at Y&R, who later became a maniac and was easily the worst work I've ever seen Cady do. It has kind of infected her overall mannerisms, I'll allow that, but I do think she brought Dixie back together as herself while still evolving the character when she returned to AMC again in 2012-13. Nonetheless, for me the upshot is that this is a character where Cady's kookier recent performance style suits the role. But I can understand it grating for people.
    • Yeah, Loretta Swit's passing stings. My late dad LOVED the show (he died last November) and watched it religiously. In first run and repeats.  And I was literally born the day after the show's premiere, so I grew up with it! I know many loved later, softer Margaret, but I loved Early Hot Lips. In real life, I'm all for less misogyny, but to me, the early years of M*A*S*H were just funnier. May Loretta Swit rest in peace. Thanks for all the memories connected to my dad!

    • I agree that she isn't Dixie or Rosanna and shouldn't be acting like either. I just found it strange that she had a naive Southern character and a wealthy urbane character in the past and didn't experiment with accents before (unless I missed it, correct me if I'm wrong). She used to do improv characters on YouTube. She's probably doing something similar here.

    • And here I thought I'd never think about Lauren Tewes again after her brief appearance in Twin Peaks Season 3.
    • I may be the single person who does not mind Transatlantic Campy Pamela. I think it perfectly suits this sort of Absolutely Fabulous-esque supporting character she's playing much more than it did when Cady tried weird and often broad stuff at AMC* or Y&R, or later stints at ATWT. She's not Dixie and she's not trying to be. I will freely admit some of the other chances she took at other shows often came off stiff, hammy or downright mortifying (Kelly Andrews, come on down). (* - and I say that as one of the few who was somewhat into Cady trying to make Dixie more cosmopolitan in the Rosanna Cabot mold in mid-2000s AMC, just to liven the character up again)
