Right?! Is there a better example of GOP hypocrisy? The party of fiscal responsibility was running around saying "Meh, we don't have to pay ALL or our bills and we certainly don't have to pay them on time!" It's another example of how damaging magical thinking and anti-intellectualism can be. It's the same thing that brought us UnskewedPolls and talk of a Romney landslide. Even now, they aren't admitting that they lost this battle just like they lost the battle to make Obama a one-term president (which was their NUMBER ONE goal), the battle against Obamacare, and the SCOTUS case against Obamacare. Instead of accepting the fact that they lose, they come back with corruption and voter suppression. Republicans know they can't win on their ideas, so they either rig the game instead or try to destroy the system altogether.

That's very, very true. It's their way of pretending that that they are acting in someone else's interest when in fact it's all about superPAC donors.

True a majority didn't vote for a hostage crisis but at the same time look at how many people don't vote at all. Or don't pay attention to anything political. Look how many people don't understand simple things like the separation of powers and therefore they think the President is in charge of everything. Look at how many people were livid over WWII vets being turned away from memorials or vacationers not being able to go to national parks, yet couldn't have cared less about NIH clinical trials or WIC. These people all hate government yet cry like babies when their own part of it doesn't work. Look how many people truly believed that defaulting on our debt wouldn't have had a serious effect on the economy. It's the ignorance and hypocrisy that makes us a joke.

We are a laughingstock and we should be. I don't mind when people from other countries throw shade because we deserve it. Part of what drives and emboldens the tea party is the myth of American exceptionalism. It keeps people from recognizing our problems and for looking toward other countries for solutions. Look at health care. Every civilized western nation has some form of universal health care but not us. We're so special that we have people fighting for a system where getting sick can bankrupt you.

Here's the reason it's time to stop trying to find common ground with the hard right wing: http://dish.andrewsullivan.com/2013/10/04/why-theyll-die-on-this-hill/

No he's not. He should do what conservatives do and just write the checks. Let Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly be the face of this movement.

I blame that on turnout. The right wing always does better when fewer people vote. That's why the NRA decided to go after a recall election instead of organizing against Giron in the next election. Morse was term-limited. Plus there were new voting regs that severely limited mail-in voting which a lot of the electorate uses. The gun safety side needs to be in this for the long haul. We're not just talking about legislation, we're talking about culture change. It took decades for tobacco to lose it's grip on the culture, the same is true for guns.

No he broke into her house because he didn't feel like obeying the rules. Sorry, I refuse to give Sanford a pass just because he "only" stole from taxpayers and walked off the job once. This isn't about the affair and the fact that people keep concentrating on that is part of the problem. I couldn't care less that Sanford is a slut. I care that he was so selfish and immature that he abandoned his job, was derelict in his duty to the people who put him in office all in the name of "twu wuv" and used taxpayer funds to do all of it because apparently he's little more than a 14 year old boy. There's no excuse for that. None. Sanford DID play the voters not tried, did and he will do it again because it's easier for puritanical voters to be squicked out over sex than admit that they were duped by a psychopath like Sanford. Twice. You can't give Sanford a pass then go after Weiner. Well obviously one can but it's intellectually dishonest. Both are disturbed whores but only one let it affect his ability to do his job. Frankly I don't blame Weiner for staying in the race. Sanford got re-elected, Vitter broke the law and he's still got his job, Weiner has nothing to lose. There are a lot of other slimy whores in public service: Schwarzenegger, Clarence Thomas, etc...but Mark Sanford is in a class by himself.

Worse than abandoning your job and leaving the country in secret at taxpayer expense? I don't see how the two are remotely comparable.

Sanford is far worse than Weiner. He was worse before any of these latest issues. Sanford abandoned his job. He left the state and the country (and his family on Father's Day no less). He lied to his staff and used taxpayer money to finance his slutting around and once he got caught he gave one pitiful interview after another about how true love made him do it. Just this year he violated the terms of his divorce agreement to break into his ex-wife's house. He's a pathological narcissist with no concept of responsibility or accountability and he should never have been allowed anywhere near public office ever again. He's not qualified to be so much as a WalMart greeter. The idea that Weiner is somehow worse because of the quantity of his offenses is like saying that TEN speeding tickets are somehow "worse" than ONE rape.

Honestly I have no problem with the concept of polygamy. I find the practice is often abusive to women but IMO that has more to do with the religious doctrine that leads to polygamy. If a group of people of any make up want to make a lifetime commitment to each other, fine. It sounds like a paperwork nightmare (wills, power of attorney, etc...) but if they can make it work, more power to them. That said, if polygamists want their practice to become law they will have to fight for it just like gay people and interracial couples did. Granted I'm not going to stand up for polygamy the way I did for same sex marriage but I wouldn't stand in their way either.

Oh yes, I remember that guy: UnskewedPolls.com. Nothing makes me happier than reminding neocons on the internet how they fell for the Romney LANDSLIDE!11! talk. He fleeced those idiots good. That sad thing is that those are the people who when faced with evidence that refutes their beliefs, simply choose to believe harder so no matter how many times they let themselves get screwed, they just keep coming back for more. Trickle down economics, austerity, abstinence only education, etc.... all examples of ideology that has failed over and over yet the simpletons keep insisting that we just need to do it more.

I saw they ran some video of Reggie and Jack. I know MBJ chose to leave but AMC really screwed up by letting the character of Reggie drift away. It's one of my biggest soap fan resentments.

I'm not accusing him of a crime. I'm accusing him of betraying the public trust. I don't care that he paid back the money. He left the country and either nobody knew where he was or his staff lied for him which would mean he made them a part of his sickness. He. Left. The. Country. He abandoned his constituents and his responsibilities and there's no way to pay that back. That's unforgivable.

Personally I couldn't care less about Sandford's whoring around or how in lurve he was. The unethical part comes from the fact that he left his state and the country without telling anyone. If there had been a disaster in his state a la West, TX or Moore, OK, the residents of his state would've been screwed even as their tax dollars paid for his psychotic, nookie chasing ass. For that reason, I think Mark Sanford should never be allowed to hold public office (or any job other than fast food) ever again. If you want to cheat, fine, cheat but do your damn job like a professional.

LMAO! She is TOTALLY pulling a Givens. Tika's one of those former soap actors where I revel in her success as a "!@#$%^&*] you" to the shows (and people running them) who didn't think they were valuable.
