  1. From what I can put together, the 1980s had several actors with interrupted runs. Michael Zaslow: 1971-1980, 1989-1997 Maureen Garrett: 1976-1980, 1988-?, ?-end Christopher Bernau: 1977-1984, 1986-1988 Peter Simon: 1981-1984, 1986-1996, ?-end Maeve Kinkead: 1981-1987, 1989-1996, 1997-end Robert Newman: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end Jordan Clarke: 1983-1987, 1989-1993, 1996, 1997-end By 1989, I believe the longest-tenured cast member without a departure was Jerry verDorn.
  2. I break down the primetime soap era (start of Dallas to end of Knots Landing) as Up to Spring 1982: Building the foundation. Fall 1982-Spring 1985: Peak. Fall 1985-Spring 1988: Tanking. Fall 1988 onward: Off the rails plus budget mode. Of course individual shows vary and I've broken down each show in their threads.
  3. CBS moving Murder, She Wrote from Sunday to Thursday was straight up sabotage. Les Moonves knew exactly what he was doing.
  4. Thanks @P.J. If my math is correct, Jordan Clarke runs were 1983-1987, 1989-1993, 1997-end.
  5. Did Jordan Clarke have a departure sometime between 1985 and 1989? I know Robert Newman had three runs: 1981-1984, 1986-1991, 1993-end.
  6. So Kim Zimmer had beef with a rookie in both her original run and her return run. 1987 Kim Zimmer was 32 and Michelle Forbes was 22. 1995 Kim Zimmer was 40 and Cynthia Watros was 27. Aging star having her shine stolen by a rookie 10 years younger and a rookie 13 years younger, not surprised there was beef. I wonder if there was any beef between Kim Zimmer and Beverlee McKinsey.
  7. The final season had a darkness and sadness surrounding everything and it was painful to get through. There were times I was like "make it make sense". Sign of the times. Hired on the cheap to fill both the good mother role and family conscience role.
  8. JC wrote negatively about ES and brought up the beef w/ MTS. I don't recall her saying anything negative about any other producer or cast member.
  9. JC memoirs Not Young Still Restless she writes negatively about some people. VR memoirs The Women Who Raised Me from what I remember did not really delve into her time on Y&R. VR "novels" Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva and The Young and the Ruthless: Back in the Bubbles its pretty clear who some of the characters are based on.
  10. 1996/97 CBS moves Touched by Angel from Saturday 9 pm to Sunday 8 pm, where it pretty much inherited the Murder, She Wrote audience. `TOUCHED BY AN ANGEL' HAS PUT CBS EXECUTIVES IN RATINGS HEAVEN Touched by an Angel becoming a Top 10 show was a rare bright spot in that 1994-2000 CBS primetime mess era.
  11. Hahaha, dead. I still remember when Sharon threw Nikki's past in her face "you started on a pole and ended in a bottle". We saw Nikki go from climbing the pole to the OG ho turned housewife then snooty lady of the manor and now messy matriarch/grande dame.
  12. 100% this. Murder, She Wrote deserved to have a proper final season farewell on Angela Lansbury's terms after all she did for CBS primetime. Sadly Les Moonves denied us this. In a way Angela did call everyone out through the episodes that shaded both Friends and CBS. Angela did not give a f--- about being elegant and classy with her shade. She was hurt and rightfully so and I don't blame her for reacting the way she did. It was difficult to watch when Angela tore up and it made me sad and angry.
  13. I was not expecting the Tide shot though 🤣 Silk Press Sheila was so checking for Andre. I'm like "damn girl you ready to risk it all for that man".
  14. Oh how I wish Angela Lansbury would have called out Les Moonves and put him on blast.
  15. I got the impression Andre was opening up to Dani about his feelings, that's why I thought he was about to admit he was in love with her. Dani has no idea that what's good for her is right in front of her face. Tomorrow we might get a love scene set to an R&B slow jam.
  16. Was Andre about to use the L word with Dani?
  17. Larsa "my ex is publicly bashing me". I wonder if she knew about Marcus posting on IG "she's back where she belongs" with a street emoji.
  18. May 21, 1990 was CBS Monday comedy finale night. Major Dad season 1 finale, Newhart series finale, Murphy Brown season 2 finale, Designing Women season 4 finale. The comedies that were in the 1989/90 Top 10 had their season finales earlier. April 23-29, 1990: Empty Nest April 30-May 6, 1990: The Cosby Show, A Different World, Cheers, The Golden Girls May 7-13, 1990: Roseanne May 14-20, 1990: The Wonder Years
  19. Chance aged normally from 1988-2001 but I think he was aged a bit with his 2009 return as a war veteran and police detective.
  20. Nikki is now a messy matriarch/grande dame and her styling reflects that. For age 69, MTS looks pretty good.
  21. Pre-TGIF, ABC most successful 1980s Friday 8 pm comedy I'd say was Webster. Full House wasn't a hit its first two seasons but it started showing growth in its third season which overlapped with the launch of TGIF. Funny thing is, Full House became a Top 10 show with the 1991/92 move to Tuesday.
  22. 1995 CBS was sold to Westinghouse and Les Moonves arrived at CBS. I pointed out 1995/96 Murder, She Wrote as sabotage in the Tank Jobs and Sabotage thread.
  23. When I watched 1999 Daytime Emmys in real time, I was like "Daytime Emmys will never top this" and that's exactly what happened (at least IMO).
