I once read that the difference between New York soaps and Los Angeles soaps was that the New York soaps were all about the theater and the Los Angeles soaps were all about the looks. Maybe that applied in the 1970s but not so much in the 1980s and 1990s.

Robert Newman returned November 1986. Maybe Kyle as well. Larkin Malloy departure 1987 but I don't know the exact month.

Sheri Anderson run on GL was November 1986 to July 1987. From the ratings, Pamela Long could not return fast enough.

So in your opinion, the 1970s were the peak of daytime dramas and the decline began in the 1980s? From a ratings perspective, I say the real issues began in the late 1980s with Nielsen people meters and the writers strike, and everything culminated in the aftermath of OJ.

I don't think Dani age has been established but if we go by Karla Mosley real age (45 in August), it's possible Dani could have a who's the daddy storyline.

Season 5 Knots Landing got corporate with Lotus Point, ventured into James Bond/action thriller territory with Wolfbridge, and also got glamorous. IMO going corporate and glamorous was done in response to Dynasty blowing up and becoming a pop culture phenomenon. Greg/Abby were originally co-conspirators with benefits and the marriage was more business/political power couple. Their booty call hookups didn't turn into love and the marriage didn't either. Someone once said that Abby wanted to be Greg more than she wanted to be with Greg. That's pretty accurate I'd say.

Bill Spencer Senior original characterization was a more villainous version of Stuart Brooks. James Storm is on until 1994 and after that he came back for short arcs in 1997 and 2001. Bill Spencer Senior died off screen in 2009 and then came the rewrite son Dollar Bill. B&B is briefly mentioned in this interview but I got the impression James Storm was reluctant to talk about it. Maybe his relationship with Bill Bell changed or he has beef with Bradley.

Bill Bell's best rivalries were all female rivalries. I can't think of the last good female rivalry.

The P&G shows were not in a good place creatively at the start of OJ in June 1994 and they were effectively over in the aftermath of OJ. By the end of 1995, the P&G shows were the bottom tier (the Bell shows and Days were the top tier and ABC big three were the mid tier).

Andre is going to be in pain when he finds out about Dani and Bill elevator hook up. I really hope Andre doesn't turn to Ashley. Silk Press Sheila showed a vulnerable side when it came to Eva. Maybe its a way to make her less of a one-dimensional villainess and extend the character's shelf life.

I wouldn't know. I didn't watch any of his run.

Michael Laibson became EP in May 1995 and he is EP until December 1996. Megan McTavish became HW in July 1995 and she is HW until October 1996. GL entered cancel territory in 1995 and many consider 1996 as GL's nadir. Things got so bad in 1996 that there were two weeks GL finished behind Another World (July 29-August 2 and September 9-13) and two weeks GL tied Another World (September 16-20 and September 30-October 4).
