Nice try, making it sound like the whole thing is a fraud. This is one event. I'll even link: https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/erik-wemple/wp/2017/06/26/three-cnn-employees-resign-over-retracted-story-on-russia-ties/?tid=pm_opinions_pop&utm_term=.f5d15632aed2 But in fairness, these three SHOULD LOSE their jobs for this. But this does not negate the rest of the investigation. In any case, I'm not sure why I'm bothering. Maybe hoping for some light to come through. But forget it. I'll re-initialize the filter for the sake of thread harmony.

Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
I'm admittedly biased since I am/was a ride or die Mason/Julia fan, but I'm glad the show never hooked Cruz/Julia up. A platonic friendship was refreshing. AW also did it with Cass/Felicia. There was too few of such relationships. Besides, had Julia/Cruz hooked up, Julia would be tossed like yesterday's trash in a blink had Marcy Walker wanted to come back. As a Julia fan, I think she deserved better than that. Not to mention destroy Julia's other friendship with Eden in the process. (Heck, Samantha had Eden as her middle name with Eden's "death" back around the time Samantha was born.) But the Kelly angle would have been soapy, especially since the show played up a rivalry between Eden/Kelly once CG came on as far as Robert went. I think that dynamic could have really revved up had Cruz been in the mix. Still, in the end, I think Kelly would be sacrificed, too, with the above "Eden returns" scenario as no way would the show not reunite their flagship pairing. So maybe the whole thing played out as best as it could. Frankly, as it was, Cruz/Kelly was a disaster and should have never been attempted with a freshly-recast Kelly (and a miscast, at that) in Eileen Davidson.

Ever so thankful for the ignore feature.

I say the blue states should say f.u.c.k. it and secede from the red states.

I think it is pretty much done. Handel is pulling away.

Seems Karen Handel is winning against Jon Ossoff in Georgia, from early results. Anyone surprised? Yeah, me neither.

I honestly think there should be a "voting license". Kind of like a driver's license but a test for voting. If you can't answer coherently about any issue outside of slogans or propaganda, no vote. I know it'll NEVER happen, as the right to vote is in our Constitution (much as that document is spit on in this administration!), but there should be such a test to assess cognitive thinking and brain function before anyone steps into a voting booth! Or suffer the consequences. (And wow, are we suffering now thanks to the brain dead.)

I may sound pessimistic, but I think Karen "I do not support a living wage" Handel will take this. Georgia, when push comes to shove, consistently goes red. I realize Trump won by a small margin, but...he still won. The only upside is, this seat has been Republican for decades, anyway. And while "close but no cigar" means nada, I still consider the fact this race being so close is a win in and of itself considering past history.

Eh, let him. 1. It will only increase the heat on Trump, basically shouting he has many things to hide and 2. even if he does fire Mueller, I read that some in the House (or Senate) are ready to reinstate him as special prosecutor should that occur, and then Trump has no say, anyway. And we all know what happened when Nixon went down this road, don't we?

Funny that even with the 12 billion investigations on Clinton, the end result was always *crickets*. Somehow, I have a feeling the end result for Trumplandia will be a lot messier. I mean, when even his LAWYER (for Russia) is now under investigation? Come on...

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
I recall reading somewhere, and maybe I'm misremembering this, but I believe even though OLTL hit the ir before AMC, Nixon had actually written the original AMC bible before OLTL. So, if indeed AMC was essentially first, there may have been a sentimentality factor for Nixon there.

And let us take a moment to reflect on the fact that Oompa Loompa is now trying to return former Russian compounds in Maryland and New York to his buddies. He's a corrupt POS. And one who has zero empathy and just needs constant validation. My folks have told me Watergate took 2 years before Nixon left. I'm not sure we can take 2 years with this arsehole and his filthy administration.

Yes, but in doing so, I think it would just make the investigation dig deeper. An innocent man would not try to stop the testimony otherwise. And the sane contingent of American citizens would continue to support said investigating. So, for Trump, it's almost delightfully "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't".

The Politics Thread
At this juncture? I'll say it: Blue states should secede from their red conservative neighboring states. Separate but equal nations. Let the GOP have Trump and all the corruption that goes with him. And no, I'm not naive and know that applies to the left, but I cannot fathom it is even a quarter as prevalent as it is with this bunch. The only question is if red states would sink without blue states around to bail them out. But let's see... Because from where I sit, the "United" States of America is already dead.
