  1. The GOP rep stating that whichever police officer searching for him had better be armed and single was a lovely touch.
  2. GOP lawmakers skipped town to avoid a vote. Then the governor called the police.
  3. I think it's a bunch of nothing. Everyone involved were adults. Was it seedy? Maybe. But nothing that the GOP likely hasn't done. And the GOP clutching pearls when all that would have to be said is, "President Dump on third wife, cheated on previous wives, five kids by three different women. The end." would highlight the hypocrisy beautifully.
  4. Good for him. He was one of the best damned writers that show ever had.
  5. Trash begets trash. Kellyanne Con-Job is trash working for Trump, Supreme Trash. All of this said, nothing will happen. Corruption from top to bottom. I would say I feel sorry for George Conway, but he stays married to the blonde bimbo, so...meh.
  6. Just spied the late Mark LaMura on an old episode of Law & Order talking with fellow ex-soap actor (and main L&O cast member at the time) Elisabeth Rohm. Airing on Sundance.
  7. No love for Santa Barbara here? When it was good, it was awesome! (And when it was bad, a la the last year or two, it was painful.) still, it seemed to get a lot of love and a cult following for only 8.5 years on the air.
  8. Obviously, it is not a soap, but Paul Gleason will forever be known to the Generation X contingent as Principal Richard Vernon in The Breakfast Club.
  9. Lot of talk of recasts on Santa Barbara in this thread. Another recast - besides Eileen Davidson - that I thought just never worked was Wanda DeJesus as Santana. I get life played her a cruel hand a lot, but DeJesus played Santana much too brittle, hard, and cold, IMO. Yes, she wasn't as weepy and clingy as Gina Gallego's version, but DeJesus' version seemed to go too far in the opposite direction. And her "romance" with C.C. I never bought, especially since he had involvement in the whole Brandon mess. (I recall reading here or elsewhere that Jed Allan didn't get along too well with her, too.)
  10. Melanie Smith, that is. Never knew that about Bette Davis! How cool! Don't know if anyone knows this, but Smith was in an episode of Silk Stalkings not long after she left, playing a dirty cop. (Yeah, the show was cheesy, but it was fun!) She did a pretty good job in the role. Then she kind of faded away, or so it seemed.
  11. +1,000
  12. Welcome to Talibama, a.k.a. American Gilead: https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/alabama-senate-passes-nations-most-restrictive-abortion-law-which-makes-no-exceptions-for-victims-of-rape-and-incest/2019/05/14/e3022376-7665-11e9-b3f5-5673edf2d127_story.html?utm_term=.df01f96e681a
  13. As I type, I just spied Michael Zaslow on a Law & Order episode from all the way back in Season 5, "Scoundrels", on Sundance.
  14. That pic sort of harkens back to Annie Lennox, too.
  15. Robert Mueller makes a liar out of William Barr six ways to Sunday.
  16. I agree. Janis Paige, while no doubt a great actress, was far too young to play Minx and should have been another Lockridge relative. The Cassie stuff still could have played out as it did and denied her Warren, etc.
  17. And there was something about "Capridge Water" at some point.
  18. I was just going to respond with this. LOL! When the revival series began in 2003, his character Alex Turnan, went poof! McCall was suddenly still Dee Dee McCall, engaged to some other dude. (Of course he turned out to be bad or die or something and Dee Dee was again a cop with Hunter, this time in San Diego instead of LA.) So Alex doing a fade was celebrated by many.
  19. As an aside, I remember learning that Gordon Thomson was going to be Mason #3 by E!, of all things. The channel, before reality hell, used to have a newsy format, and host Ken Taylor did hourly soap segments, and it was during one of those where GT's photo was shown and it was announced TL had left rather abruptly. I was surprised, but I remember just being glad that Mason would be a brunette again. LOL! If I recall, it was E! that had that Pure Soap show with Shelley Taylor Morgan, too, later on. ETA and a bit OT: I found a current pic of Shelley Taylor-Morgan from an article about some radio show she was hosting back in 2017. The face is still pretty much the same, but wow...bright hair! Funny, though, that I always remember her more from Hunter as Sgt. Kitty O'Hearn than I do from the soaps. (Her first episode was on just last night, when Hunter went missing and she teamed up with McCall...and the villain was played by Joe Mascolo! A sort of Days reunion.)
  20. Cassie came on around 1990, so she was not a Dobson creation. However, they seemed to paint her as some wounded victim, which forever makes me angry. LOL! All of her machinations NEVER came out.
  21. As I said, I think TPTB realized they goofed with ED as Kelly, so Katrina was brought on to try to redo the Kelly/Eden dynamic. Alas, it failed miserably. I also recall reading the Dobsons first wanted Mason to fall for Katrina, too, to be attracted to her goodness and innocence a la Mary, another mistake by the show no one could ever fix. (And I am a huge Mason/Julia fan, but I know that killing Mary always left a black mark.) I feel bad for saying this, but when the Dobsons returned, it was as if they could not accept their characters had gone on without them and had grown and/or changed, so they wanted to reset the show back to 1986 or so, and that just wasn't going to ever happen. Hence their second stint being pretty much a disaster, maybe minus the 1991 Capwell Dinner. And I realize Eileen Davidson is popular around the board, but I recall her inaugural interview in the now-defunct Soap Opera Weekly magazine after being cast as Kelly left a sour taste in my mouth as she disparaged the character, saying now that she had the role, Kelly's IQ points would go up. That did not sit well with me. So, in a perverse sort of way, maybe karma came back and got her, because she really didn't do so well in that role. The show had a gem in Carrington Garland and cutting her loose for a "name" to desperately save the show will always be yet another black mark.
  22. Saw this and was wondering if it was the same tragic Jonathan Brandis that took his own life. Per Google, it was. Per this site/page detailing Brittany Murphy, his prom date in high school was the equally-tragic Brittany Murphy. (Scroll down.) Jonathan's page. Edited to correct and add links.
  23. Well, CC on Santa Barbara had recast after recast until TPTB got it right with #4 in Jed Allan. Maybe other shows hoped to finally hit the casting bull's eyes - and just never did.
  24. LOL! CC could have been SB's answer to Stefano DiMera, with family members crawling out of every crevice! (If I remember correctly, Louise Sorel did return for one last hurrah, and the final story for her was hinting that she and CC had a retaliatory fling around the time that Lionel/Sophia did...and that Warren was CC's. Glad the show ended before it got that far!)
  25. I agree with you, but - it's been so long that I can't remember - was it ever established that Grant had more kids besides Madeleine and Courtney? (I know soaps do/can retcon, but I just wondered.) As it was, we didn't know Grant had kicked until Mason used a ruse of a memorial service for his uncle to spring the second remarriage on Julia.
