Diane is about the only thing even worth watching Y&R for, but this story about Phyllis and Nikki is silly has had no momentum since it started. Basically DOA.

Nope, which was bad because Katherine of all people was used to prop Billy for his drunk antics there 2009-2011 during the MAB years. I believe he sobered up during his DID story back in 2019 and has been for the most part since.

LOL. To be fair Hope’s scandals haven’t been brought up either, and both Steffy and Hope’s very angsty relationships with Wyatt have been swept up the rug and ignored for quite some time now. That being said it is whiplash to see Steffy being friends with Hope to at the same time having sudden regressive fits of rage to the Logan family. Yeesh. There’s a great deal of some psychological drama to be examined here, but Thudley severely lacks his father’s talent in that particular department.

Back in the day when Corday was in the press trying defend the writing of Langan, Higley, Reilly and Sheffer I use to think the soap press needed hazard pay for the way he would spin everything 😂. But that was a time when Corday could easily throw various writers and producers under the bus for stuff he actually rubber stamped. I believe at this point Corday is just bidding his time.

+1. I loved Eve and the story of her losing it as well. I just remember some in the media and on the net back in the early/mid-00’s unfairly gave her the label. I clearly remember one critic going as so far as to call her the female “Ted McGinley”. Yeesh. People were so stupid at the time.

Wow I figured RS as Quinn would stay their until the very end I guess she saw an easy off ramp to get off the show. Even though it’s Rena’s decision it’s interesting Quinn lasted about average for a usual Thudley pet, which was nine years. Amber, Nick, Jackie etc all lasted about the same more or less. Wyatt is MIA, Bill was on his last grasp, HT Katie MIA etc. I hope Sofer does well on her next venture. She’s come a long way from her infamous “show killer” days of Melrose Place and Just Shoot Me.

Of course right after she wins an Emmy. Of course. Like @Chris B was saying there’s been of rumors of MM leaving going back to even last summer. Amanda has been a major flop, and the same regime that has already fumbled with Loren Lott and Sasha Calle just has never been that invested in Amanda and are ignoring the fact they probably need to get Leigh-Ann Rose on contract before it’s too late. I get MM didn’t want to play Hilary again, but letting the character be so flat and boring is plain lazy on the part of JG and crew.

LOL Phyllis has been in denial about what exactly happened and has been dancing around that fact anyone tries to ask her what happened. At least there seems to be dire warnings that Phyllis is about to implode as she did back in May as she blatantly ignores wise advice being given to her. Amen to that the last part. Logically it would made more sense if Summer was homesick, exhausted from working with Angela Marchetti, and wanted be back in a family owned business again and explore their options. That’s when the Wiley family approaches Kyle and Summer in help the struggling and once fabled Wiley’s Department Store back in Genoa City. Or Kyle and Summer came back launch Sephora style Jabot counters in a popular discount chain while also relaunching the men’s line for Jabot, with giving Diane high level administrative duties on the men’s line while Phyllis feels left out. At least the number of extras are increasing again. The Top of the Towers actually looked crowded lmao.

How the heck did Li Shin even end up with so much power at DiMera anyways? I barely remember Wei Shin having the same role or wielding the same amount of power.

LOL. Stafford looks good for her age but what gets me is the show always puts Stafford in these ridiculous one sleeved dresses while Stafford has spray tan splotches allover her body. I use to love MS but haven't been able to stand her for many, many years now but I still think it is a lazy disservice they would allow that on screen without any attempt to cover it up or have some type of professional touch up.

That could be interesting. I could easily see there being great contention when both Nikki and Nick learn that Dylan and Diane had been lovers while throwing a wrench towards a possible Shick reunion. Dylan could also help with Chance’s woes as his new police partner over their shared experiences ie fighting in war, having to be in witness protection etc. I say could because while it sounds reasonable on paper something tells me it would easily play at flat on screen on JG’s Y&R.

This thread here reminds me of when seventeen years ago when World of Soap Themes (WOST) became a pay site for a $25 annual membership to keep the site going. There was a lot of backlash but I paid it because I wanted to see the classic and other material (YouTube was in infancy) and the discussion board was amazing. Now in 2022 I am already paying for Peacock most likely to negligence on my part about ending the free trial as an entire running soap opera is about be put behind a paywall. This will never not be surreal.

LOL about Brooke, Steffy, and Thomas. Does anyone remember back in 2004 when Brooke was stuck playing caring stepmother by begging 16 year old Thomas to stop sleeping with Amber while Steffy and Phoebe were surprised when Brooke helped them on their chemistry homework? Lord what a laughable period.

GL and ATWT ended before streaming really took off, amazing how much has changed in the last 13-12 years. I know PlutoTV Soaps has been running for almost a year now but they’re only airing 2018-21 Y&R and B&B reruns. Who the hell wants to watch the last 3 years of either show? 😂

LOL. I didn’t watch much of OLTL at all but I clearly remember his meteoric rise and fall seemed to run parallel with MAB at Y&R. In 2008 there was widespread praise for both Y&R and OLTL; IN 2009 everyone seemed to be in agreement they were the two worst soaps on the air. And I clearly remember Carl your rants against him back then, it wasn’t til I have seen his Days work that know I understand and see why the hatred of him much much better. Never saw his GH work but I remember there was a massive celebration on this board when he was fired lol.

Yep it’s a hard reality about to hit us within the next month. And internationally of course Australia’s Neighbours sadly just ended as well after a 37 year run last week so US soaps aren’t the only ones in troubled times. Ron has a lot of love for these shows and for daytime, but he also has a lot of ego and a lot of bad impulses. He made this situation himself. He's not the first once-beloved HW to fall apart in daytime because of their own excess multiple times, but he just might be the last. He did it to himself. Nobody else did it to him.

Same here. It be a shame to see it ultimately cancelled a year from now….hopefully Days can become a limited series or drop a batch of episodes once a month to binge watch, as streaming five days a week seems very improbable in the long week. Overall it’s unbelievable to me that one of the historical big 3 network’s is finally dropping soaps for good. I knew this almost happened to ABC a decade ago but still the end of an era for sure. At least Days still has the last laugh over that shitty Jeff Zucker’s dire “prediction” back in 2007.
