These are about the only two stories that I have any slight of interest for on Y&R at all and I am quite sure the show will find a way to ruin that. The rest of the show is trash. The surrogacy story is a repeat of that wretched Lily & Mac story back in 2010. Exactly like B&B it is all recycled month to month. There is absolutely no progress or development at all.

Regarding James Stenbeck I had always wondered what would have happened if the show gave Stenbeck some type of reform like Roger on GL or Carl on AW while maintaining a hard edge or transitioned to a Victor Kiriakis type of antagonist. I believe Herrera could have pulled it off. Instead we ended up with a Stefano DiMera type supervillain over time. Herrera did have a dry sense of humor, and that helped bring energy to the proceedings of his later returns as absurd & poorly written as they were. I don’t think daytime ever got to see another side to him though as his other roles on Y&R and as Dane on Loving were just as inimical as well.

I believe that week in 1991 for B&B was Eric & Brooke’s splashy wedding.

LOL at the Holden clones. I think the worst one Marland introduced later on was Hutch. Beau was an interesting addition to the show. Neil Maffin wasn't a bad actor, and while the angsty folksy/pop singer is a cliche, he was at least different from the other young guys on the show at the time. I also liked his relationship with Pam Dixon, who was a believable, sympathetic, intelligent heroine. I think because of the strike or the change in producers he got lost in the shuffle, and he had that strange exit where he sort of got involved with Nella Franklin and they left town together, but not romantically? I wonder if they cut him because they thought Duke was that "type" and they didn't need another.

Same here. It’s the same thing as what happened Nate/Elena affair, something that should’ve easily stretched out was rushed so fast. Ugh. I like Jack & Sally’s friendship would be funny if it develops into something even more.

Yep that is Tina Huang (current Trask not the old one) reprising her role as Dr. Campbell who last appeared for Steffy & Hope’s pregnancies.

Thanks to bad writing over the years we will never know the full potential of Abby Newman. The bad thing is out of the three adult Abby’s we’ve had Ordway is still the best. Both Erin and Rylan(who I loved on GL) just were absolutely dreadful, and no else competent had been cast. It’s a shame Boaz wasn’t permanently replaced by Gaston. Ordway’s best work remains when she was handling the demented young Max. Maybe if Ordway had been given more challenges like that she grow as an actress more. Again another case of a Y&R outsider failing to understand the show. I have a lot of respect for Dansby but her previous work on both ATWT and Y&R was only enough to be considered adequate. Not a miracle like some had hoped but better than Dansby’s own past; we should at least consider ourselves thankful Nate & Elena was consensual and we didn’t get a Doc Reese type character on Y&R as well.

Stafford also often has some VERY visible spray tan lines and yes splatter marks from the tanning spray on her skin. I am shocked she and the show don’t do a better job of trying to hide such details or that Stafford would allow some shoddy tanning work go unchecked.

I remember there being controversy on the web when one of the soap mags or something called Amy Carlson “Best Recast of 1998” when Carlson subbed for Ehlers and it opened up old wounds...22 years ago instead of being united P&G soap fans spent energy arguing about who was the best&worst of the three 🤦

The funny thing about RC’s Mike is how they initially teased him with getting paired up with Marlena in late 1994 to the point maybe a dinner date was involved? I can’t remember except Mike being indirectly involved with DiMera at the same time. RC Mike and Carrie interacted briefly for Alice’s funeral in 2010 but as I recall because Mike had been revealed to be an abusive/neglectful father during the 2007 Jeremy story the show left his 2010 return be open ended and have him be undeserving to be there ie he didn’t get to see Alice before she passed.

I can’t imagine HT Victoria playing out any of AH’s stories for the most part at all. Maybe the initial Brad and JT affair storyline but HT getting hit by a biscuit? Just no.

I had mentioned a few pages earlier how a March 1990 ep made Stingfield look quite older as Blake however a year later this episode does a much better job of styling her better a year later. Eh I never cared for Uncle Stavros though...I think they should’ve kept Pops Cooper around instead.

All three debuted the same day? That’s interesting! Catherine Mary Stewart looks styled too old for he age lol. I remember her best from the movie Night of the Comet.

Michael Crawford is another character difficult to keep track of his stories, timeline, and appearances. Of course he was Jill’s lawyer & lover there 1985-87 but he also had that elusive Mandy Kemper on the side. Then by ‘88-‘89 he was back again in Jill’s life to the point that Jill was hoping to get married to him and of course was involved in the Skip & Carol adoption story and then fades out for good sometime in early 1990. I wonder if Bell ever had long term big plans for the character.

Didn’t see it mentioned but it definitely deserves to be but Cecile’s 1995 return on AW was absolutely dreadful. I had been watching some AW from that time period lately and it’s just as bad as I remember, maybe even worse.

Thanks, I think I remember reading that now. I remember watching SB’s premiere on the old WOST website so long ago and found Richman to be a bit underwhelming. I do think he was adequate as the Carrington family lawyer though although the show phased him out over time.

RIP. Richman was the original C.C. right? I always wondered why the show went through so many actors before Jed Allen took over the role.

Oh yes, the fight at the Embers!! I was happy ED was the one to resolve the story and actually breathe life into it.

Actually Perry’s Rosanna had become a complete bitchy villainess by the time of her final run in 1999 I could easily have seen Perry’s devolved Rosanna with at the very least HB’s Craig, although Perry wouldn’t have the depth that McClain brought to the role at the time. Personally for myself on Y&R I can’t imagine either ED’s or BED’s Ashley ever hooking up with Cole and be in a triangle with Victoria. That would be beneath both Ashley’s but of course it happened under SS’ Ashley. I definitely can’t see Davetta Sherwood’s Lily ever getting paired with Cane at all LOL. As for B&B I definitely can’t see Nancy Sloan’s Katie be in anything that Heather Tom has done in the role, Sloan was too noisy. Likewise I can’t imagine any of the previous Thomases kiss a mannequin or fake in their death in a possible vat of acid. Their 1992 scenes together at Christmas and for Andy & Courtney’s wedding felt extremely awkward.

Even as late as 2005-2008ish I remember this still being true, especially for GL & ATWT.

I forgot Parros was on Y&R, was that his first soap role? I wonder if he was cast for being on Knight Rider at that time? My Y&R anniversary book says 1986-87 for Parros tenure but as previously discussed the cast listings in the book often very inaccurate so he may have left earlier.

Is it bad I tuned in for my long awaited Thomas & Vinny reunion? 😁 Zoe is the real nothing character in the quad from hell. Carter sparks with Paris, and Zende sparks with Paris, but neither sparks with Zoe. Plus Zoe is rude and annoying. I’m glad Finn called Liam out on his BS it is too bad Finn didn’t punch a few teeth out of Liam’s mouth but i guess mannequins can’t throw punches lol.
