Seems like TPTB don’t do much press anymore. Maybe they don’t feel like it’s valuable or that having the actors promote on social media is enough, and there are fewer outlets who care about soaps (especially with Michael Logan no longer having his TV Guide megaphone). But it *would* be interesting for someone at CBS/Sony/Y&R to enlighten us about their strategy. The excellence of these episodes is a win for them during a difficult time. Why not shout about it? Totally agreed on a Sheila week, even if KB is a bit... problematic these days.

I loved that story. Can you imagine a character getting that kind of love today?

I know it’s a somewhat common trope, but almost every show with a black family did the goody-two-shoes striver with the “hood” sibling they were responsible for keeping in line. Almost always a pair, as if writers could only see us in that binary. Some were better written than others and evolved past that initial conceit. Incredibly rare to have a black family of 3-4 or more siblings. Y&R: Olivia/Dru, Neil/Malcolm OLTL: Hank/RJ GL: Gilly/David ATWT: Ben/Isaac I feel like I’m forgetting someone.

No one watches this anymore but..

Decent Part 2 of the reunion. I didn’t watch Nene’s video, but she seemed so dejected and resigned before she walked off that second time. Like she wasn’t agitated, just kinda over it. Certainly Kandi dog-walked her in that little skirmish, so she may have also been worn out. Porsha’s text from Kenya was a big nothingburger, as expected. Waste of a good cliffhanger. Yovanna’s on next week. I take sadistic pleasure seeing her as the communal punching bag, because she’s so fücking pathetic and thirsty. Funny that, of all people, Corny Canadian Tanya was the only person to draw even the slightest blood with Kenya. Love her or hate her, Kenya came prepared for this reunion. Nene certainly was not. Loved Kandi’s comment to Tanya: “You’re coming into this situation with us. We can’t rescue you!” Sink or swim, bitch. Take a drink every time these ladies say “Cookie Lady.”

Cameron is so sweet and mellow (and gorgeous) and seems absolutely head over heels for Lauren. Jessica is just a disaster in a way that makes for great car-crash viewing. I won’t say anymore because...

I got sucked into watching Love Is Blind on Netflix, which is a whole hot ass mess (looking at you, Jessica), and Lauren and Cameron are the cutest couple I’ve ever seen on a reality series.

I saw that too (very weird clip for Darrow, but then again, SB could be weeeeeird). It feels like the Emmys had a run in the early ‘90s of rewarding true supporting actors and not category frauds (Darrow, Barrow, Thom Christopher, Gerald Anthony, up until Deas’s first win for GL - we all know he wasn’t supporting given how Buzz ate the show).

I think that was the first Daytime Emmys I watched live. ATWT won Best Drama without winning anything else? What a darker (in color) ceremony than the previous year’s. The clip selections were terrible (especially if they were going to show so little of them). OT: What was the emergency that took Finola back to London? And man, Peter Bergman can cry at the drop of a hat, especially when mentioning his wife. I suppose that’s a... nice quality?

Notes on that: Loved Kim kissing each of the GL writers as they walked to the stage (although it freaks me out in this post-COVID world). Her acceptance speech was wonderful (“I love to chew the scenery”), and her clip was the best of that bunch. She did indeed come back one day. Forgot that A Martinez won that year. What an eccentric show Santa Barbara was. I sort of agree with JFP that it would be a great show to bring back in some form, if only because offbeat works these days. Holy sh!t. Fiona Hutchison’s outfit. They showed Michelle Forbes as the background when Julia Barr won. KSJ, Kin Shriner, and Stephen Schnetzer were GORGEOUS. Cady McClain knows how to bring the melodrama in her Emmy speeches. Her speech when she won for ATWT years later made me uncomfortable. Edit: I watched her ATWT win, and she was actually very composed. She’s just a bit off-putting for me. That little Andy Kavovit had swag. Sad for little Bryan Buffinton. Must be sad to lose when you’re one of two in your category. Not a good year for Y&R. Terry Lester seemed so happy with the SB crew.

Interesting reorganization of the Primetime forum with the streaming services integrated. I do wonder why Fox and FX/Hulu are bunched together when the latter two have been shuttled off to Disney.

I would bet on Jaida. She’s more consistent, professional, and well-rounded than Gigi and Crystal. Jackie was robbed. I would have loved to see her compete. She offered such a fun, unique perspective, and I thought her lip syncs were fabulous. Like Michelle said, she was Gilda Radner. It’s all shameful because Sherry, in spite of being a disgusting creep and an awful human being, was very talented. (That save when she flubbed her line in the one-woman show: “I just had a horrible stroke and none of you did anything about it!” Hilarious.)
