  1. I wonder if that’s our Oscar final 5 or if Regina King might break in.
  2. Faulkner replied to YRBB's topic in Off Topic Lounge
C’mon now. This is great comedy!
  3. I deleted my last post as it could be perceived as spoiler-y. But I’ll take Franco all day, every day over Peter.
  4. Just saying that she could perform it well if they did, which I didn’t see when she was playing the Gabi alter. She seemed limp as that “character” to me.
  5. I sympathize to a degree, as it was an unexpected tragedy, but they did absolutely nothing with the cast they *did* have on the canvas (BJ and CK), and that’s unconscionable to me. CK may not have been back full time at that point, but she was around. And, to this day, years later, they’ve done close to nothing to honor Neil.
  6. Use it as a jumping-off point to generate renewed energy in that part of the canvas and really honor his legacy in a way that carried the show forward. Plant a seed. Get Neil a secret in his will that Devon and Lily have to uncover. Something. Y&R hadn’t been in the public eye like that in years, and like you say, I had modestly hope that the outpouring of support would have at least inspired them to recognize the goldmine that they’d ignored for years. To no avail. And, to add, of course they used those scenes to win the show Emmys.
  7. Given that he’s trending No. 1 on Twitter for a show that doesn’t even air here, he’ll be monetizing his BS somewhere else very soon.
  8. Not to be morbid, but, with all of the eyes on the show during that tragic time, that was an opportunity to pass the baton, but nope. Unlike with Jeanne Cooper’s real-life passing, no story really came out of it. (In actuality, Neil had been so thoroughly diminished that there wasn’t really a baton to be passed.)
  9. She’s just doesn’t work at all. Get rid of her. For a 30-minute show, B&B feels awfully padded with filler. Is this really how this Vinny/Thomas story gonna play out? These plots are so anticlimactic.
  10. I’m gonna need Paris to slap the lip gloss off her face and snatch that ugly, gaudy-ass costume jewelry from around her neck (is it attached to her chemise?)
  11. I can’t say enough good things about Marci’s revitalized take on Abby (if my new profile pic didn’t give it away). Icy yet down-and-dirty. She’d make an amazing villain if they went there. MM is a star who definitely deserves a better platform, but she’s making the most of what she’s given these days.
  12. I just want to be on a fly on the wall behind the scenes. Would be much more enlightening and exciting than watching this show. At least they realized they needed a “secret” to be revealed with the Chelsea faking the severity of her stroke complications and scheming against Adam, but that’s a steaming pile of “who cares?”
  13. Institutions are crumbling one by one, some more slowly than others. I would say “pass the popcorn,” but too many innocent folks will be hurt by vengeful people aiming to hold on to their increasingly flimsy power.
  14. Saw the BAFTA nominations, whose acting and directing nominees are now determined by special juries to address diversity concerns. They are unlikely to be as closely followed as an Oscar precursor. Four of the directing nominees are women, and the acting categories are loaded with nominees of color. Notably, the entire BAFTA membership votes for Best Film, whose nominees are NOT as diverse. (Not even Ma Rainey or Judas and the Black Messiah are nominated there.) 15. From D.C. 🇺🇸
  16. Looking like Zhao, Boseman, and Kaluuya are locks. Carey Mulligan seems to be looking likely as Best Actress, but that still feels a bit open. Supporting Actress is anyone’s guess. We shall see if Nomadland resonates enough with the Academy for Best Picture.
  17. Brandy has signed on alongside Eve and Naturi Naughton: https://deadline.com/2021/03/brandy-star-queens-abc-hip-hop-drama-pilot-1234709087/
  18. It’s likely Drake will unseat Olivia Rodrigo next week with “What’s Next,” with his “Wants and Needs” debuting at No. 2.
  19. It is. I have to remind my mom that she’s not fully vaccinated until two weeks after her second dose, which she’s still waiting to get.
  20. When Roger Howarth is outacting you in scenes, it’s time to reflect on your life choices. I kid re: the above, but Wes has gone completely off the rails. He’s playing to the cheap seats with these big, loud, obnoxious “classically trained” acting moments. But dude the camera’s right there.
  21. 8th week at No. 1 for Olivia and a record-extended 52 weeks (a full year!) in the top 10 for “Blinding Lights.”
  22. WTF was Zende’s MUAHAHA and then a cut to the opening credits? This show is just so half-assed.
