  1. GR's still with the soaps, though, so he doesn't count.
  2. Trump certainly knows how to deliver those Friday cliffhangers. ;)
  3. Same.
  4. Same. No matter how they might feel about the policy rollbacks, the truth is, implementing those rollbacks would be cost-prohibitive in the long run.
  5. So, I've just watched the scenes where Carolee, overhearing (in classic, Marland-esque fashion) that Steve and Ann have married, loses consciousness, collapses onto the floor, and retreats back into catatonic, "Mary Ellen" mode. Oh. My. God. In all my years of soap-watching, I have never wanted a story to end as badly as I want that story to end. How much more plot-driven tedium did TPTB think they could put these characters through (not just Steve, Carolee and Ann, but most of this unexceptional cast) and still make the audience gaf about their predicaments? Not even Douglas Marland's writing made this show work for me, it seems. The production values are bad even by late-1970's standards; most of the acting is amateurish and too low-energy; and even the better writers seemed to give less than their all here. Sorry, sports fans, but I think TD was just a bad, cursed show. On the bright side, however, Dr. Brandt doesn't appear (at the moment) to have an unhealthy obsession with his patient. If the Pollocks were still writing, you know that's just where the story would have gone.
  6. What a childish and petty thing for a governor to do. You have my sympathies, citizens of Maine. I hate how so many people's livelihoods have been caught in the metaphorical crossfire of this ongoing shutdown. Nevertheless, I want to see the Democrats stand firm against Trump's outrageous demands; and I, for one, believe Pelosi is just the person to do that.
  7. Good. Keep pushing 'em, Nancy. Everything Trump touches dies. Including a child's belief in Santa Claus.
  8. Between the delays and the interminable flashbacks, it's as if the Pollocks have been ghostwriting the entire time. No way should Marland have taken this long to get any momentum going on the Steve/Carolee/Ann or Paul/Stacy/Matt/Maggie, etc. stories. Did the network and/or Colgate-Palmolive interfere and prevent him from wrapping up stories and/or creating new ones? Was his trepidation a result of his having no prior knowledge of the show? Seriously, what did Jackie Smith's daughter allegedly see in his work on this show that convinced her mom to lure him over to GH? I doubt her daughter even watched TD, because, really, what would have been there to captivate any new fan, let alone one as young as she?
  9. I wish someone had said that very same line on the show, lol.
  10. 2018: another crazy, f'ed-up year in America.
  11. And so very 2018.
  12. Well, I watched it. (What can I say? I'm a glutton for punishment.)
  13. Here's an article on SB's co-creator, Jerome Dobson, and the book he published on Amazon back in August: https://www.mdjonline.com/neighbor_newspapers/northside_sandy_springs/community/buckhead-man-known-for-soap-operas-finds-new-creative-avenue/article_9fede6d6-6a74-11e8-bec7-0b61bccb0ff8.html
  14. Of course, Nicholas Kristof is correct: it's the American people, and not just Trump and/or his cronies, who must pay the price for his reckless leadership. That's why, in some respect, I'm not entirely looking forward to Mueller's final report. Because, if they think it's bad now.... Same. About the only thing I'm sure of is that I won't be voting Republican in the 2020 election. And even THAT could change in the blink of an eye, lol.
  15. I've just watched the scenes on YT. Marland might have realized at that point how the stories were dragging, so he killed her off in order to get something going. The Kyle/Maggie story is why I wish TPTB had kept Dr. Dan Allison around as a John Dixon-type figure, rather than kill him off. Imagine how much richer the story might have been, had Maggie grown closer to Dan, who would show a rare, tender side to his personality, as he helped Maggie cope with her and Matt's problems. Why must Carolee's flashbacks be so damn long? Did Marland watch TD when the Pollocks were writing -- and flashbacks practically took up entire episodes -- and figured that was the way to go?
  16. If that tweet isn't proof that Trump is a narcissist, who suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder, then I don't know what is. Also, "News" and "Media" is kind of the same thing. I don't feel Beto is ready for the WH either. Even Obama did a stretch in the Senate before running for commander-in-chief. Besides, I'm still uncomfortable with the idea of another white guy saving us from ourselves, even though the Trump administration and its' disastrous effect on our country probably guarantees I won't see another Obama as president in my lifetime.
  17. Agree. Like I said, or rather suggested, the minute Congress gives in on the wall, Trump will bitch about the next bright, shiny object that's outside his reach. (In fact, once he has the wall, he probably won't give a second thought about it. Again, just like my brother.) He'll never be satisfied. If my folks had stood firm just once with my brother like Congress is doing right now, then maybe my brother wouldn't have made so many shockingly stupid mistakes, thereby sparing us more than a few sleepless nights in the Khan household.
  18. Trump is my older brother, and the Senate and House are my parents. He ain't gonna shut up until they give him what he wants. ("Well," I would always say, "that should keep [my brother] quiet for the next minute." Trust me, it wouldn't be any different with Trump should Congress finally give in.)
  19. No wonder Trump and Putin belong to a mutual admiration society: neither man thinks much of African-American voters.
  20. I imagine a scenario where Trump is carted off to a sanitarium after he fires everyone including the cleaning lady.
  21. Me neither. To him, "compromise" means "you give me what I want, and maybe I'll think about giving you some of what you want." I just hope they don't add insult to injury by offering those gov't. employees who won't get paid for the holidays memberships to the Jelly of the Month Club.
  22. Dr. Phil? I'm kidding.
  23. Well, it's happened. A reboot...of a reboot. This is where the universe implodes, right?
