Wow. Well, I hope he's telling the truth about standing up for female staffers, and not just hopping on the #MeToo bandwagon as a means of getting back at Crown Media for his dismissal.

Conservatives cannot exactly brand Ford a liar, because doing so would incur the wrath of #MeToo followers, which would be tantamount to political suicide this close to the midterms. Furthermore, although they've trotted out the glowing endorsements ("We're women, we work for Kavanaugh, and even though we're saying this before any allegations make the news, we just want everyone to know what a gentleman he is!") and the usual boys-will-be-boys justifications, something about the defenses on Kavanaugh's behalf feel very half-hearted to me, as if they know we've heard all the excuses before and are not buying them. So, what's left for his supporters to do? Mistaken identity, and the pictures to prove it. Crap that is straight out of the "Law & Order: SVU" playbook. (I'm halfway expecting to see Ice-T and Kelli Giddish arresting Garrett.) I'm not ready to say "KENNEDY FOR PRESIDENT" just yet, but let's just say I'm keeping an eye on him.

Typical, self-entitled, white frat boy "humor." By all means, let's reduce women (or "frat mattresses," as they're called) to objects, and sexual assaults to punchlines, because God knows we couldn't get it up if we tried. Now y'all understand why I'm so dismissive of folks like Joshua Morrow? #BrosB4Hos Among other things. I never understood why female GH fans went crazy for him (as Jagger Cates) BITD. God, no wonder why I thought "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" was a load of crap.

More like, they start running out of psychos. But seriously, I couldn't make it all the way through the Pollocks' stuff, because their stories were so plot-driven that (IMO) it made the characters exasperating to watch.

Yet, people would swear up-and-down that it had absolutely nothing at all to do with the color of Obama's skin. I don't blame Obama for "moving beyond the United States," as DD said upthread, and becoming more of a global humanitarian. Don't get me wrong, I believe he still loves this country. However, I think any individual who endures the kind of racist b.s. that Obama endured for eight years -- often, from his own constituents, the people whose interests he had to put before his own -- has to reach a point of thinking, "Well, forget y'all, then!". I think Obama knows he will never attain the level of respect that other, previous presidents have attained in their lifetimes, so he has chosen to move onto making a difference on the global stage.

I keep fearing this'll end up like some episode of "Law & Order: SVU," with Kavanaugh in tears, saying he was drunk and scared and didn't wanna hurt her like that because he really loved her but all his friends kept teasing him and if he could take back that night he would. (Cue Mariska Hargitay's standard "WTF am I witnessing here?" reaction.)

To me, "The Talk" lost all rights and claims to "sisterhood" when they (meaning, most likely Julie, and/or Les) forced out Leah Remini and Holly Robinson Peete. I'm not a fan of either person, but something about their exits has always felt unclean to me.

I know I'm not surprised, lol. Maybe we don't need to delay any further, but I still find the GOP's position galling. My favorite part: Finally, refer to Christine Blasey Ford by her name. She was once anonymous, but no longer is. Dr. Blasey is not simply “Judge Kavanaugh’s accuser.” Dr. Blasey is a human being with a life of her own. She deserves the respect of being addressed and treated as a whole person.

For sure, she'll get roasted, but even her ordeal won't be as jaw-dropping or cringeworthy as how they treated the very black Anita Hill. I mean, they did everything to Anita short of comparing her directly to the whore of Babylon.

No, I WANT her to broadcast a message to that effect on the network. In fact, I want her to face an audience filled with every single one of her husband's accusers and say those words exactly. And I want her to stand there and remain silent, as his accusers say or do to her whatever they're going to say or do to her. If she has the courage to imply all these women are liars who are talkin' smack about her man, then she also has the courage to stand up to them (and for her husband) when they exercise their right to clap back. But she won't do that -- and you know why? Because, again, she knows his ass is guilty as hell. But, you know, I almost feel sorry for her, in a way. All those other women had to do to keep their jobs or advance in their careers was allow Les to force himself on them. But Julie was the one who actually had to marry him.

There's only one word to describe CBS and Chen's actions here...and that word is "chickenshit." She KNOWS her spouse is guilty -- "as guilty as homemade sin," as my crazy aunt would say -- but, rather than face her now-ex-co-hosts OR the live studio audience -- who, no doubt, would demand some answers -- she chooses to exit via some candy-assed videotaped message, where she doesn't have to confront anyone, or answer any tough questions. If she truly believes Les is innocent of these charges, and now wants to devote her time to defending him and protecting their son, then why not go live and say as much? You had no qualms about appearing live for your big "I am Mrs. Norman Maine!" moment, to say that the statement you made on Twitter (which was ridiculous even then) was the only statement you'd make on the subject "today, tomorrow, forever"? What has changed? Furthermore, what kind of network is CBS to give such an idiotic move a pass? Whether or not you support or Les, there's no mistaking the fact that his spouse and the network are under intense scrutiny. Do they really think a videotaped message will not add fuel to that fire? Honestly, Chen was better off not coming back at all.

It isn't a "cynical, horrible" choice, but I'm not sure I would have written out the character that way. I think I would have had her die on the operating table during knee surgery instead.

You are absolutely right, racism and pedophilia are not the same in degrees of harm. I apologize if that's how my statement came across. To the shock and amazement of absolutely no one. If only she were out at BB, too. That wouldn't surprise me. Woody's career was already in crisis before the movement began. Aside from "Moonlight in Paris," his movies haven't performed well at box offices in a very long time. #MeToo only exacerbates the issue.

Look, I think Woody and Mia are two, very damaged individuals; and I think their damage has undoubtedly shaped the lives of their children, both biological and adopted. You don't have to know what happened on that day in August, 1992, to see it. I just think it's telling how so many are outraged -- outraged, I say! -- over Woody's marrying his stepdaughter and (allegedly) molesting his other daughter -- but hardly anyone batted an eye when the African-American community complained about the lack of AA actors in his movies, or the stereotypical roles for the ones he does employ. (I, myself, have counted only two actresses of color in Woody's movies. One played a maid, the other a whore.)

Why is it that some people accuse the Democrats of being as racist as others accuse the GOP of being, then turn around and make statements such as this? Has Keith Ellison's skin suddenly lost all its melanin? If the Dems are, indeed, racist, don't you think people from within the party would be working to rid themselves of this man, too? Because, there is no such thing as a man who's been raped, right? RIGHT?
