If Trump were to lose the election (and frankly, I think that's a big if at this point), he'd act just like Betty Broderick did when the prison guards tried to pull her off that bed. It would be hilarious, mortifying and shocking to watch, all at the same time.

IIRC, SB's original EP, Jeffrey Hayden (?), quit around the same time, so it's possible the Dobsons, having worked with MEB at WT, seized an opportunity to bring her over to their show.

I understand one's need to hold fast to religious beliefs (no matter how...misguided those belief would seem to others). But, like you said, @Vee, it wasn't as if Carlotta had always been homophobic, for lack of a better word. Plus, I think when you're an actor, you kinda know that portraying characters who don't necessarily hold the same principles as you...well, it comes with the territory. Otherwise, you're in the wrong line of work (or worse, you're doomed to act solely in faith-based films forever).

The Russians have always viewed Fearless Leader as nothing more than a clown puppet, operating strictly for their amusement. Unfortunately, either his minions and followers are too thick-headed to realize we all have become Putin's court jesters, or they don't care (or both).

She was, although I'd say that JFP had the better aesthetic sense. The music, sets, wardrobe and even makeup during Bunim's tenure at ATWT often veered toward the garish.

That IS nice to hear...but I wish I hadn't just read that. Because, now, my mind has gone to thinking "What if the Dobsons had joined Y&R after Bill Bell's death?" and I really don't want to go there, lol.

As...eccentric as they are, I wish the Dobsons would return to daytime. If not as HW's, then maybe as breakdown or script writers. They were just too good at what they did, and Lord knows this industry needs them more than ever. I love the looks on JFP's and (I think) Steve Kent's faces when Bridget made that comment. It's like they were saying, "Really, bitch? You wanna bring that up now?" Then, they just stood there, looking dumbstruck and crestfallen as hell, and just waiting for it all to be over.

Bridget Hursley Dobson is a very complicated woman. Brilliant, but complicated. About the only storyline from the Dobsons' GH stint that gets mentioned is the "Who Killed Phil Brewer?" mystery.

Just as she found it too incredible for Jabot, a cosmetics conglomerate that caters to women, to be run by a man. Which is why she killed off John Abbott. I dunno, maybe she was right about there being no cosmetics companies being run by men, but was killing off John the way to fix the situation? Plus, she had John stick around for awhile as a ghost (and Jack's conscience), because she saw "Six Feet Under" do the same thing and loved it. But, I'm like, "that's a horse of a different color, Lynn." I mean, how long did she expect "Ghost John" to stick around before viewers got tired of the gimmick (and of him)? As I see it, LML would have been better off pursuing her real passion, which was writing for sitcoms.

When *I* think of the '80's, I think of those prisms that Stefano needed to heal his brain tumor, lol. Again, though, I ate up that [!@#$%^&*], because (thanks largely to EP Al Rabin) DAYS remained a thrilling, romantic show. It certainly had more passion than GH, which seemed to be all about the action-adventure stuff, but not much heart.

It's like what @KMan101 said: '80's DAYS might have been dumb, at times, but it still had heart and a sense of community. You felt like TPTB as well as the cast cared about the work they were doing and truly wanted to entertain the audience everyday. You don't have to bring back the lavish sets and costumes to make me fall in love with this show again; just give me stories that show you still give a damn about us and what we expect.

If it were Jess Walton's Jill, then, yes, having her involved in the political arena would make sense. Heck, even Brenda Dickson's Jill getting involved in politics would make sense (although, I think Brenda's Jill would rather use her financial clout to back candidates and get them to do her bidding, rather than run for office herself). OTOH, if Deborah Adair's Jill had tried to run for office like Nikki did, she would've been laughed out of her first-ever debate. You have to understand, too, that LML came from KNOTS LANDING, which, as far as I could tell, never had a passive, unambitious female character like Nikki (although Val Ewing came awfully close, lol). For the most part, KL's front-burner ladies -- Abby Ewing, Karen Mackenzie, Laura Avery Sumner, Claudia Whitaker, even sexpot Paige Matheson and Linda Fairgate -- held down full-time jobs. The only major exception was Paige's mother, Anne, who was a catty, scheming bitch, who wanted to marry money, so she WOULDN'T have to work.

With some exceptions, Marland tended to act as if the 1980-1985 era had never occurred.

Nikki was a "lady of leisure," because, unlike Jill, she didn't have any discernible talent(s), other than looking good and arousing men sexually. (True, she could play the piano, but I don't think she was meant to be as proficient at it as Leslie Brooks was; and the fact that she never used those skills to make a living, not even as part of her stripping act at the Bayou, has me wondering whether Bill Bell ever meant for that part of her life to be developed more fully). And, to me, that was part of the problem with getting Nikki involved in politics.

Meg Ryan likely felt the same way as you. Yeah, a big problem with ATWT at this time (which I tend to blame then-EP Mary-Ellis Bunim for) is that the canvas is littered with characters and actors who are certainly young and telegenic, but who lack purpose or strong ties to the Oakdale community. Unless someone was part of James's storyline or the Betsy/Steve/Craig triangle, they might as well have been an background extra or under-five. Watching that particular episode from '83, I'm amazed by how little of the show remained by the time Marland returned as HW just two years later.

Dan Rather would "go to Hell and back" to interview Beyonce, but I have a feeling she would bore him (and us) to tears rather quickly. Neither she nor her husband are all that interesting. Thanks for the link, Vee. Ugh. Candace Owens is so cancelled. We don't claim her. We will NEVER claim her.

I hope so. For all our sakes. People on the left need to realize there is no such thing as the perfect candidate. The sooner they do, the better off the rest of us will be.

And Democrats, of course, will cave the moment even a whiff of impropriety emanates from the investigation and pressure Biden into quitting the race. Because, we're still in the Purity Clearing House Sweepstakes, don't you know? Say what you will about Bill and Hillary, but those two never backed down from any challenges coming from the GOP or even one of their own. We need more street fighters like that in the Democratic Party.

I loved Ariel's reaction to Cricket and Ernie's conversation as she walks over to the telephone to call Karen. The look on her face -- "You two are the most boring people on EARTH!" -- is priceless. I mean, even the way she rips up that paper was a nice commentary on the ridiculousness of that entire scene with those two. (Ernie's worried about soiling an unwed teen mom's virtue? Really?)

More and more, I think about @marceline's words: that this all could end in warfare, violence and bloodshed.
